It's crazy to realize that Lynn was the lead vet/ star of her own soap, the GH spin-off Port Charles. I wonder if there was any blow back from Port Charles's failure that kept Lynn off of GH for a decade. Or was Lynn's being off GH when PC ended just the work of Jill Faren Phelps and her hating the older actresses? Jill did send Bobbie and Felicia packing. I guess if Lynn hadn't done the spin-off and stayed with GH, she probably would have been written off GH too during that time, thanks to Jill.

Or maybe Lynn wanted time off to work on her ranch and be with Wayne (until he obviously couldn't work on that ranch anymore. Dementia is a cruel disease!).

I don't think Lucy fit the vision of JFP or Guza. PC did run for six years, so I doubt anyone at ABC would have blamed Lynn.

IIRC both Lynn and Jon had a little expectation that they would return to GH full time and were disappointed when it didn’t happen. At first iI think it was in their deals that they would go back if PC failed.

The supernatural era of PC kind of doomed any interest in at least one of them coming back. JFP and Guza were also clearly not interested in vets by that point, although Guza liked to use Scotty for a couple years at a time here and there.

Had it happened I fully expect Lucy would have reverted to just a schemer, and Kevin would have finally gone full psycho and been killed off after a reign of terror. Guza’s 1996 story with Kevin’s breakdown was good, but we all know his interests lie with deconstructing characters and not building them back up again.

Yeah, I think Jill and Frons/Guza just discarded them entirely. They did not fit into their vision of the show. Maybe Guza would've liked to use them but we'll never know. I do think the '96 story was good as well, if very dark.

I do remember reading both were open to returning, but I believe Lynn said they weren't even contacted by GH. I recall Lynn being especially upset by that. I was rather shocked myself because I just assumed they would be back.

As others were saying I am not sure where Lucy/Kevin would have fit in that era of GH. I think the hiring of Monaco as a different character right after PC's ending made it a lot easier to say we don't really want to deal with explaining the Livvie/Kevin of it all. I know why they hired Monaco, but to discard Lucy/Kevin seems silly since they had a built-in fanbase from both shows.

I knew they wouldn't be back tbqh. It was quite clear by 2003 that Guza and Pratt's GH had evolved into a show with sadly no use or respect for characters like Lucy and Kevin. Once Jill or Frons or whoever let Genie walk and then slaughtered Stefan and Rick Webber you knew everything had changed. I was just happy they got that token appearance in '04.

Fair enough. I can't say I watched the waning years of PC either so I have no idea how hard it would be to even explain Kevin/Lucy by that point. I can see how Lynn and Jon would be disappointed after being team players for years on both shows.

I don’t even remember if they were together at the end of PC to be honest. That show did kind of grind them up. Lucy was a full on vampire hunter. I don’t think wiping out PC would have made their fans happy, but it would be necessary.

My sleight of hand would have been GH characters reading the fictional novels Tainted Love and Tempted for a couple of months and it is revealed they were written by Kevin under a pseudonym. I think Mac would have had a lot of fun teasing him about that. Wipe the vampires into fiction, have access to folks like Kevin, Lucy and Livvie instead of the final true BrendaBot, Sam. Nolan North’s character would have been welcome at GH to stir up trouble too, especially once Patrick and Robin got there. Oh well!

As much as I dislike Kevin/Laura, it has been nice to see Jon again on GH. And Lynn is welcome anytime! I’m glad the show has shown respect to folks like Lynn, Jon, and Kristina Wagner who has had a contract for years! My complaints about Frank Valentini are well posted about. But he has shown these folks and their fans that Frons and JFP just kind of threw out some respect and kept them. I wish they were as well written and used as Tracy is, but at least they are still used.

IIRC they weren't. PC had turned Kevin evil over magic bullshít to unwisely pair Lucy with Thorsten Kaye. Awful. Fortunately by the time 2004 rolled around that was ignored and IIRC GH basically indicated they were back together. Which they allegedly were offscreen for years as well, til they divorced sometime before 2012.

I agree Frank has used those veteran relationships very well for Felicia, Mac, Anna, Lucy, Kevin, etc.

Didn't Nolan North have a lot of negative things to say about PC and/or about soap operas in general? Or am I thinking of someone else? From what I have seen of his Chris I do think he could have been viable in the Scrubs era.
