I like an hour, and a large cast if used well. Guiding Light under Calhoun/Curlee/Reilly/Demorest was jam packed with people, but it felt like a full community and ensemble show. But I also know what you mean, because an hour show needs story. When the story is thin it can be a slog to just sit though characters mostly regurgitating plot points. I still think the half hour is viable and should be used if another soap were to be launched.

I think that Monty and Riche (up to around 1996 or so) knew how to use an hour format...and Curlee too...Marland was also born for the hour format. Unfortunately, so many aren't. I know it sounds silly to complain about this with GH as it probably implies I think they could go back to a half-hour, which isn't going to happen. So ideally, they can find someone who can punch up an hour format.

That was a good cliffhanger. And it was staged really well. Those ending montages are always really good on GH

Trina’s singing was ok. I wouldn’t mind her getting a singing storyline or some kind of musical partnership with Gio, which could cause some kind of conflict with them/Emma/Kai.

I also liked Gio’s guitar playing. And he looked good too 😉😊😊

Yes!! They were always my favorite when the final 5 minutes had a music montage over the whole thing. AMC used to do it a lot, and GL just a handful of times, but they're usually so effective for me. I hope you end up liking this one!

I don’t think it’s all that silly in a world where we had an actual new network soap premiere a year ago! If anything, BTG would have worked better for me at launch at 30 minutes. I know and respect why they didn’t do that, but I still think it’s viable.

Most of Frank's music montages are just cheap nobodies he reuses a lot. That 'love the lovely years' crap he played over Tony's exit still haunts me. The Riche years had actual major artists.

I do miss the foggy docks from the Riche/Guza years terribly.
