Beyond the Gates, Trisha Mann-Grant, Ambyr Michelle

In January, viewers were given a behind-the-scenes tour of the set of “Beyond the Gates” when food and lifestyle contributor Sunny Anderson visited the soap opera’s Atlanta studio for a segment that aired on “The Drew Barrymore Show.”

As part of her duties, which also coincided with Anderson being honored with a walk-on role, she conducted interviews with some of the show’s cast members, including Tamara Tunie (Anita Dupree), Clifton Davis (Vernon Dupree), Ambyr Michelle (Eva Thomas) and Trisha Mann-Grant (Dana “Leslie” Thomas).

The Tunie and Davis interview aired on February 3, while the Michelle and Mann-Grant’s interview is set to air on the Tuesday, March 3 episode of the syndicated daytime talk show.

In a clip released last month by CBS Media Ventures, which produces and distributes the Drew Barrymore-hosted talk show, Anderson discussed her experience with Barrymore and Ross Matthews, and shared what she learned, including some soap opera trade secrets, and even how input from the costume, hair, and makeup departments, among others, helps create the show’s identity.

Although details surrounding Anderson’s walk-on role were unavailable at press time, her episode is slated to air in May.

Watch the full segment below.

Filmed in New York City, Drew Barrymore and Jason Kurtz are executive producers of “The Drew Barrymore Show,” which, since its launch in the fall of 2020, has become a key destination for entertainment, information and important conversations.

Now in its sixth season, the talk show features exclusive celebrity interviews, unique lifestyle segments, social media influencers, and feel-good news stories, aiming to touch all aspects of life through Barrymore’s unique, optimistic lens.

Visit the show’s official website for information on tickets and where and how to watch.

Being syndicated on a lot of CBS stations is a factor, but The Drew Barrymore Show is still not the place I would have expected to give BTG such publicity. Hopefully more talk shows will follow suit.

Since Drew became emancipated from her mother when she was 14, maybe she will suggest Eva make a break from toxic Leslie?👀

"Listen here, Little Miss Drew Boo. I know you come from one of those stuck up, think their better families like the Duprees, but just like I don't take a thing from them I won't take nothing from you. You ain't better than nobody because I am THE Leslie Thomas and I am a pillar of the community. You see how quick I get this little show of yours canceled expeditiously if you don't leave my Eva alone. Do I make myself clear?" lol

"Oh, sweetheart don't nobody care about that. I was in all my church's plays and I could run circles around you even on Broadway. And your dead relatives got Oscar nomination while all you can do is play some little brat starting fire or some thirsty heifer begging to get kissed."
