ARTICLE: Wes Ramsey Back To ‘Days Of Our Lives’ As Owen Kent

Wes Ramsey, General Hospital

Following his shocking appearance last month as Peter August on “General Hospital,” Wes Ramsey will appear as another of his villainous soap opera characters, this time as Owen Kent on “Days of our Lives,” a role he last played more than 16 years ago.

In an interview with TV Insider, Ramsey told the outlet how surreal it’s been to be back in daytime, playing the two roles, noting, “This is another glorious example of something coming up that is very unexpected.”

“Being asked to reprise a role that I played 16 years ago is something I’ve never done before,” continued Ramsey. “That’s the kind of thing that can happen in daytime, and it was absolutely a wonderful experience.”

“When I filmed there 10 months ago, I obviously had no idea that I would be asked to revisit a role that would happen to air weeks in advance of that reveal,” said Ramsey, referring to taping scenes at the “Days of our Lives” studio in Burbank and the tape-to-air scheduling difference between the two soaps. “It’s a great gift to be called back to do something you once did before because it means somewhere along the way, someone making creative decisions liked what you were doing enough to want to bring you back. It’s a compliment and something I don’t take for granted.”

In his return to Salem on Friday, February 27, we discover Owen is the one holding Stephanie (Abigail Klein) and Jeremy (Michael Roark) captive. “Owen is a man who desperately wants to love and be loved and is lonely,” teases Ramsey of his character. Meanwhile, for how the story unfolds, fans will have to just tune in to find out. Until then, Ramsey shares he enjoyed his time working with his new co-stars, including Robert Scott Wilson (Alexander Kiriakis).

“Abigail and I got along really well, and she’s wonderful, a real pro,” praised Ramsey. “We really let ourselves go there and had a ball. Robert Scott Wilson and I got to work together, too, and he’s a great guy and a wonderful actor. He and I really got to step up to the plate together and had so much fun.”

While this stint is expected to be short, Ramsey does look forward to another return appearance, should it arise, saying, “I do hope there’s room for some of this to perhaps be revisited somewhere down the road.”

Well this is completely random at least to me lol although I do remember the original storyline.

@Soapsuds @dc11786 @carolineg Didn’t Gordon Thomson come on the show as Owen’s dad too?

I remember some folks jockeying for Wes Ramsey to be the next big thing back in the mid 00’s between Latter Days and his role on Charmed but nothing substantial ever materialized.

And I would be one of them. I had such a crush on Adult Wyatt.

That said...good to hear if only to keep him away from GH.

I think? He was a mortician or owned a funeral home where Owen kept Stephanie but it was super brief.

He did. The character owned a funeral home. Stephanie ended up in a morgue drawer there at one point.

I am happy this story is finally moving along, though I feel this part of the story is gonna include a lot of Alex huffing , puffing and whimpering about Stephanie, while Stephanie does the same tied to that chair, not very exciting 😑 I just hope Jeremy gets a proper apology after all this is said and done. No matter his past, he doesn’t deserve to be thrown under the bus for this mess.

Same lol. I had enjoyed Ramsey’s work on GL before that too despite the uneven writing (a story about pirated CD’s 😂). I remember there a proposed Chris & Wyatt spinoff that was rumored for a couple years but I think it was just a rumor. I also recall WB/CW nixing the idea because it was too similar to Supernatural.

Thanks. I definitely remember Stephanie being trapped in the morgue with a shirtless JKJ Phillip fighting off Owen saving the days. I recall Owen had also locked up Brady and Melanie in the Kiriakis family crypt as well.

Not going to lie Days randomly bringing back Owen Kent 17 years later just reeks of an Carlivati move lol.

Loved him on GL, too. So...what happened? lol. But I heard that rumor as well.
