General Hospital star Steve Burton confirms he is taking a break from the show to focus on family and will return later this summer.

Don't get too excited, he's returning this summer.

That is honestly a little shocking though. I wonder what they'll do with Britt while he's gone, because they've been pushing the Britt/Jason romance pretty hard.

Jason and Britt stalls again. GH has a habit of slow burning relationships until one of the actors has to leave the show either temporarily or a long-term. Similar thing happened with Spencer and Trina.

I wish they would stop spoiling when actors leave/go on LOA or are returning. Whatever his exit is would have been nice to have as a surprise same with Kirsten Storms return.

Again: KT is doomed.

Sounds like like Bill and Hayley on BTG...they never went on their honeymoon and finally doing so.

In any case, I hope that means that they will EITHER...

...speed up the story so Jason can take Britt WITH him.

OR

With all the blocked filming, they can take a page from the Anthony Geary (RIP) Luke playbook and have Steve film scenes they can drop into episodes so he seems like Jason is still there.

Unfortunately, he won't be missed by me. He hasn't added much since his return.

Jason is a glorified supporting character (which I prefer him as at this point). I don't think his absence will hurt the show.

Between this and the endless Finola vaykay I’m wondering if they’re furloughing some of the higher-paid actors for budget reasons.

I think that's true in some cases, but I'd guess Steve really did want an extended break.

It's not like less Jason is going to make Britt soar with the rest of the canvas!

Hughes is known for taking extended summers, but she didn't the last couple of years. I'm sure #firefrank is spitting nails that this will put off the reunion (in his mind that he thinks the viewers are begging for) with Britt.

I just hope this doesn't prolong the S#!%well story any longer. It's long overdue for an end.
