A Murder Between Friends, Joan Collins, Nadia Bjorlin, Jacob Young, Trent Garrett

The new feature film “A Murder Between Friends,” starring Joan Collins (“Dynasty”), Nadia Bjorlin (“Days of our Lives”), and “All My Children” alums Jacob Young and Trent Garrett, among others, is now available as a VOD release on most major streaming and cable platforms across the United States and Canada.

Written and executive produced by Mark Rozzano, the Agatha Christie-style murder mystery follows six friends vacationing at the country estate of a legendary true crime TV star (Collins). Of course, the last thing they expect is to find one of their own murdered. With everyone a suspect, they try to determine who among them has the means, motive, and opportunity. As tensions grow, they enlist the aid of their celebrity sleuth hostess to uncover the truth before the killer can strike again.

Shot over two weeks at Úsobí Castle in the Czech Republic, the playful whodunnit features twists and turns built to keep audiences guessing until the very end.

Additional cast includes Toby-Alexander Smith (“EastEnders”), Simon Cotton (“Emmerdale”), India Thain (“Sharknado 5: Global Swarming”), Czech actress Hana Vagnerová (“Borders of Love”), Broadway actor Jim Borstelmann (“The Producers,” “Chicago”), and social media influencer Espen Hatleskog.

The film was co-directed by Young and Garrett, who also serve as producers alongside Collins, Percy Gibson and Toby-Alexander Smith.

“Just when you think you have it figured out, this clever murder mystery throws you for a loop – over and over again. The iconic Joan Collins elevates this whodunnit with authenticity and humor for a suspense-filled ride,” said Lise Romanoff, CEO and Managing Director of Vision Films, the company that spearheaded the VOD release through a deal with Scott J. Jones and Artist View Entertainment.

“As a lifelong fan of Agatha Christie and TV detectives like Columbo, I wrote the character of sleuth ‘Francesca Carlyle’ specifically for my longtime friend and favorite actress Joan Collins, as a glamorous version of ‘Miss Marple,'” said Rozzano. “I was so fortunate to assemble an all-star cast of friends, who also happen to be the best from Hollywood, London, and Broadway.”

“I couldn’t be more excited for audiences to finally experience this film. This project has been incredibly meaningful to me, not only as a producer and director, but also stepping in front of the camera after a long hiatus as an actor,” added Young. “Working side by side with executive producer and my dear friend Mark Rozzano was a true labor of love from start to finish. Working alongside my talented co-star and longtime friend of 25 years [Nadia Bjorlin] made the journey even more special.”

I'll be watching for Joan. Bless her heart, I didn't think we'd see her do something that's so low budge, but I'll go with it. Nice to see Nadia and MAGA moron Jacob too, I guess.

Dame Joan was Queen of the B Movies in the 1970s - she did Empire of the Ants after all - the scriptwriter is a friend of hers.

Her next movie, The Duchess and I, is decidedly more high profile.

And let's not forget Ab Fab the Movie. Such an unexpected great cameo.

Thank you for the tea. :)

Just finished watching it - I enjoyed it. A very light mystery that adapts an Agatha Christie storytelling trope. Given the budget was very low, something like $1 million USD, it looks quite good. That's the upside of location shooting in a very old Czech mansion.

Joan has more charisma than the rest of the cast combined. Her eyes light up and the camera loves her. She's still got it. The British actors, Simon Cotton and Toby-Alexander Smith, were very good and certainly deserving of good careers on UK television. Nadia Bjorlin was fine but a bit stilted. The pleasant surprise is India Thain, who is the granddaughter of Joan's late sister, the great Jackie Collins. Obviously a nepo-baby hire courtesy of her great aunt Joan. However, she is very natural on camera and a better actress than Bjorlin.

The false note is Jacob Young. He is such a ham they might as well have glazed him and baked him for 3 hours on low. His line readings are really off. He's also let himself go in a very unfortunate way. He's got long hair he's put in a man bun while also sporting a significant amount of extra weight. He looks rough. He was a co-director so might have been haggard from working behind the scenes.

Thank you for this. :) And oooo that is some interesting info about India and sounds like she will be one to watch. Sad to hear about Jacob. And he does love his long hair from what I remember of him on AMC.
