Pretty tame ending, but good episode.

I think for me I'm just overthinking it. Last year when the show started and throughout the rest of the year...Dani/Bill were clearly being written as endgame with Hayley as the spoiler. Probably how MVJ wants it. Even with the Hayley reveal, it still felt that way which makes her scenes hilariously fun for me now. BUT on screen, Dani/Andre were given so much development that resonated and felt organic. And no matter how many scenes Dani/Bill popped up in, Dani/Andre couldn't be denied. So once we got to the episodes where the writers clearly saw that the audience was responding to Dani/Andre AND Dani/Bill, I would have thought we would got an actual soap triangle a la GH Sonny/Brenda/Jax where the sides were even matched. And before they had that weird shift to the backburner, it seem like we were getting a Bill/Dani/Andre triangle like that. I hoped we would get that getting into this year.

But I immediately side-eyed when Andre started to talk about his insecurities again. I know he has his worries about Bill due to history, but it just seem to abruptly come out of nowhere. And this week, Dani just feels off. Cuz would Dani kiss Bill? YEEEAH. However, Dani/Andre have built this relationship on telling each other everything...good, bad, and ugly. So her actions ring false to me just as much as Andre suddenly talking about his insecurities again out of the blue. It feels like the writers are again doing Dani/Bill = endgame while Andre is now in Hayley's spot as spoiler. It would be so much better if they make it an actual triangle, and not couple with obstacle. If that makes sense.

I think Dani and Bill was always inevitably endgame. They will come together and go apart again. And I'm here for it because the chemistry is very real and they are probably bad for each other. Doesn't mean I can't enjoy Andre and Dani for considerably longer.

I feel the same. It was clear from their first scene together with Bill/Dani. The fire and chemistry is definitely there. It's why the Hayley reveal hit so well. Her and Bill was never endgame. And now we know why she was never developed while Dani and Bill got so much development. The reveal and all scenes after that is why I keep comparing them to Marlena/John/Kristen cuz that's what they are giving, making it hilariously funny.

But to find ANOTHER pairing with fire and chemistry with your lead actress. And not to play both without slanted writing?

I get it from GH. I would hate to see BTG fall into that.

Danni did stick with Bill over many years, so even though she claims otherwise, she is still attracted to him. It was only the particular circumstances (and Hayley's agenda) that lead to divorce.

Andre is a viable obstacle and it's good they are writing the relationship as meaningful and not just a diversion for Dani.

How many more months can they get out of Hayley/Bill before it becomes repetitive? Either she will be exposed in a big event story eg taking Bill to St Lucia(?) to finish him off with Dani to the rescue or there will be a bitter divorce with Hayley having dirt on Bill and going for a big payout. That would also have Dani supporting Bill as he realizes he's been gamed.

I'm sure there is something in Andre's past that will surface and provide some conflict for him and Dani.

The secret is to have near misses for Bill/Hayley as they are more interesting apart .The 'happy ending' should be along time coming.

Clearly the writers intended for Andre to be a distraction for Dani and for Andre/Ashley to be a pairing, but that wasn't working with viewers and Andre/Dani was better received. Hayley's evil plan might have been intended to be Dani's route back to Bill, but Andre/Dani being well received through a wrench in that and now they are trying to establish a triangle.

My issue isn't with the triangle so much as IS it an ACTUAL triangle? Cuz IMHO the writing tends to be too slanted versus letting it organically be one. It goes back to the DM Rule about 'if I can look at my screen, see a character, and go...they would NEVER do that...then the writer has failed.' I pointed out for me what stood out as ODD in Andre and Dani to make me side-eye. Of course, I could be overthinking...but it's not the first time for me I had an issue with the building of this very promising triangle.

Exactly. What gave this (Dani/Andre) more substance and potential to be rooted for was the amount of meaningful and real conversations Dani and Andre had outside of the bedroom. Seeing it was clear that the audience was supposed to be seeing Dani and Bill long for each other, surprise, surprise, I rather wanted to see if Dani and Andre could become more than friends with benefits instead...only for Bill to realize what he lost. And for a little while, the writing started to reflect that triangle that I was hoping for. I just hope it continues to do so.

Honestly...once this hits climax...I don't see Hayley just going to jail so I expect her to have a Sami Brady style trump card OR a bitter divorce fight. Which yes, naturally Dani would be there supporting Bill which would cause natural friction between her and Andre.

Speaking of...is the investigation into Andre's past our first real example of a dropped storyline on this show? Because the detective DID say something happened to Andre a year before he got back into town. And Bill did decide to not cancel the investigation...unless I remember incorrectly. I thought Bill told him to keep digging.

I honestly don’t want a triangle. There is nothing in me that finds Dani going back to the man who cheated on her constantly to the point he divorced her for a con artist, interesting or exciting. It just makes Dani look as pathetic as she did in the first month of the show. I like my characters to have some form of self respect.

I realize that. I just think it's overused on soaps, and I also don't believe that partners and spouses abide by it.

I'm with you on this. I know it's a soap, but I do not want Dani to seriously entertain Bill ever again.

And again, I'll bring up the fact that Bill hasn't changed or learned anything. His "reasons" for falling out of love with Dani -- essentially blaming HER -- were pathetic. It made him look even worse to me, and I hate to see Dani give him any kind of attention.

This "I have to talk with Bill because of all the cancer stuff" is ridiculous.

-- I liked the inside joke when Nicole talked about Ted's change in fashion and "looking different" after their marriage broke up.

-- I did not like hearing Carlton and Shanice talk about the desserts they had after their dates with Nicole and Ted. That was all kinds of off.

-- I'm not sure about Naomi's cancer research. Going to the hospital to ask Shanice what she thinks about different doctors? Really?

-- I think Vernon hovering over Anita and her irritation with him are being played well. However, I think it's too much, too soon when Anita has a conversation with Nicole about becoming the family matriarch.

That's why I framed it as trying to build a triangle. Dani rescuing Bill from Hayley's clutches would have been a triumphant reunion and is probably what was planned. But now the writers seem to be trying to make that vision happen while maintaining Dani/Andre.

It is a soap so the characters are written to have wacky logic. Plenty of soaps have had couples reunite even though one or both of the duo did some messed up stuff to each other.

I’d rather they do something different and avoid that trope.

It's a soap. They're all real screwed-up people with major sins. Bill would have to earn his way back into Dani's life and he's nowhere near that yet, but it's clearly designed to be a messy, often toxic relationship designed to power the show for years to come. And in Karla and Timon they have actors more than capable of doing that.

I would still keep Andre and Dani married for at least the year and probably longer. IIRC Dani even bet or came close to betting Joey Armstrong on them lasting a year, which is shades of the story MVJ did with Lucy and Damian Smith on GH in 1994 - betting on ruining Bobbie and Tony's marriage.

I like both couples, and I understand why Andre is better for Dani but she will eventually break his heart. That's daytime to me.
