Sure, but that doesn't usually mean the person gets headshots and a slot in the show's opening sequence rotation.

I agree; I was just pointing out what can happen with a contract add on occasion. As I said, I don't think Joey is going anywhere any time soon. But I do think that eventually his demise is in the cards.

Additionally, updates to the show's end credits in Season 2, and not a single time toward the back half of Season 1, is also very interesting.

Meaning?

Emma Samms most recently returned to "General Hospital" as Holly Sutton in 2024 for a short-term arc. She was on contract. Although credited as recurring, Erika Slezak played Veronica "Ronnie" Bard on "General Hospital" under a short-term contract, according to her official fan club, which quoted Slezak.

Just want to mention I quoted @ReddFoxx who mentioned Kim Hunter and The Edge of Night which gave me pure life.

For some reason it didn't work correctly on my phone.

On that note, that's interesting information about Samms and Slezak.

No disagreements. Just noting that being included in a show's opening, unless that show is GH (recurring grants head shot/opening placement), seems to mean more to most soaps in terms of an actor/character's long-term prospects, even if it's only for one year.

No real meaning. Just find it interesting.

No worries. I meant to quote both of you. Thanks for tagging @ReddFoxx to the post for reference.

Not sure why GH does what it does exactly, but I get it.

Y&R also shows recurring players in the opening credits, when they appear in that episode.

Y&R has been somewhat secretive about who's contract/recurring, going back to the days when Doug Davidson was taken off contract

The Anita, Tracy and Vernon scenes were the highlight of Tuesday's episode.

I also enjoyed the Nicole, Mona, and Laura scenes.

Vanessa and Joey were pure fast-forward material. Yet, Jon Lindstrom is now in the opening credits. I'd rather have Shanice in the opening and on contract.

The reveal is going to be dragged out so giving Lindstrom a contract was probably a fair option for his time even if Joey is set to end up off the canvas eventually. EON gave Kim Hunter a contract to play the loony Nola Madison for an arc.

Isn't Kim Hunter the same lady that played Zira in those original Planet of the Ape movies from the 1970's?

Yeah, this storyline with Anita is hitting really close to me too. I've had some family members have cancer in the past, and I also had other family members that have passed away from cancer, including an older cousin and an uncle. I myself had to have a borderline ovarian cyst removed a few years ago and I'm currently in remission, thank God.

Who is the heck is writing Joey Armstrong as some sort of sexy lothario? Nothing against Jon Lindstrom but it is unbelievable that Joey is as magnetic as the writing would try to convince us as being. It's also diabolical that we are going to see more of this character who uses Black men as brainless muscle to be ordered around. Not to mention, how Armstrong is portrayed as some sort of omniscient, omnipotent force who has all the agency in every situation, except with his new bleach blonde kitten Vanessa (they're both trash, at this point). Someone needs to challenge Armstrong's dominance and it ought to be the Feds (how is the actor who played Doug McBride doing these days? Wouldn't mind if Doug has been working with the Feds this entire time).

I mentioned while ago I found it problematic writing that a white man had control over so many Black people on the first majority Black soap.

Yes. Her main claim to fame was Stella in "A Streetcar Named Desire" which she won an Academy Award for.

Rewatching from the beginning, Andre's hesitation to do the Forrester Creations feature was very on-character that was established in the serial's third episode, where he refuses to have his photo taken with Kat, Nicole, and Ted.

While the acting has been good when I allow myself to watch, the breast cancer story just isn’t for me. My mother is in remission from breast cancer and it was the scariest thing I’ve ever been Through. So while I appreciate what they’re trying to do, hearing the word cancer over and over and over every episode is just a bit much for me and I find myself looking at my phone until other scenes come up.

I'm glad your mother is in remission from breast cancer. It is very scary. One of my friends was diagnosed with the same cancer Anita has. She's in her late 30s. Fortunately, she's now also in remission.

I hope the show treads lightly with this story. It's at the beginning, but it's starting to come across a bit heavy-handed. I just want there to be some balance. I love a good umbrella story but I don't need to see Vanessa being hysterical when she barely blinked about Doug while on her widow world tour.

Eva and Isaiah aren't doing it for me, so far. It feels like a couple of beats were missed and a lot of talking. What are the stakes and tension between them?

But I am glad viewers can still watch Season 1 on Paramount.

I've enjoyed the Anita storyline but I do wonder how it'll play long term. If this were another soap with multiple families it would be a different story, but here we only have the Duprees so it makes me wonder how they will develop other major storylines when realistically Anita should be the family's main focus.

I feel like the only options are really Ashley or Vanessa for counter-programming that isn't centered on the Duprees. Bringing on Deanna/Donnell in a regular capacity could allow them to build something there. With Ashley, we've all speculated about the Joey/Dad angle and that could be something that could really tie them all together.

I'm just hopeful they're mindful of how heavy this can get and can balance it out.

That's been my biggest problem is that the show is too Dupree focused without other characters/stories that aren't connected to them being featured at the same time. You can tell the B & B influence in that aspect, but on a half hour soap.. you can get away with that.. not on an hour soap.

And I was glad to see more of SPS/Leslie, Eva, and the Hawthorne men being focused on for a bit because it gave the show a bit of balance and showed that the world wasn't so claustrophobic. I know MVJ mentioned that Izaiah's new job that he recently got was going to be the first step to focusing on the campus.. so let's get those steps in.

I say this after watching 80s/90s Guiding Light, ATWT, and even old school B & B that had such a large canvas and community that wasn't so contained. I hope season 2 will expand beyond the Duprees and show more of the community and world that isn't tied to them.

original release date: Wednesday, January 7, 2026 | writers: Jamey Giddens, Judy Tate | director: Sonia Blangiardo-Goins

Thoughts:

  • The "F" word, Nicole? I love when film and television cannot cuss, but throwing in those hints of words (with reactions) is always a fun time for me.

  • Dani is so lost. The poor dear. Let us hope this breakfast with Vanessa brings her spirits up.

  • Oh, so Ms Jan found herself a new boytoy?! That is exciting! Hoping we get to meet him relatively soon. Surprised Shanice is so cool with Ashley's cellphone usage, although, given her own personal use of cellphones since the serial's beginning, she would be hypocritical to crack down on their usage.

  • Dana slinking into the backroom of the casino is hilarious. She acts as if she owns it.

  • Joey's wa. Dana's shouse. So much going on. But her excitement for Joey agreeing to invest felt quite genuine for her. I am surprised.

  • I will be interested in seeing what the result of the cotillion is going to be. I really am.

  • A tug and a tickle? Oh, Joey. That gives me some giddy feelings... but naming it in dedication to Doug McBride? Oh, that is a bold choice. A very bold choice.

  • Stressed, hormonal, irritable and tired? Oh. I love that. Once again, Dani Dupee knows her way with words.

  • Good on Ashley for pressing her own foot on Shanice's neck and giving her a taste of her own medicine. That is hilarious to me.

  • And here comes Samantha dragging the mood to a screeching halt. Taking after her aunt, I see.

  • Tyrell has big feelings; I am sure they are rooted in his upbringing and his feelings for Jessica, but I am happy that he is expressing himself and that Nicole is allowing him the space to do so.

  • It is interesting seeing Shanice work her way around HIPAA laws to alert Ashley about what is going on with Naomi's mother and family.

  • Arrested in at least six states? Oh. Makes me wonder what Vanessa is thinking about. Hilarious.

  • Marcel is going to double-cross Joey to help Dana. And now that Randy has caught them lip-locked, I can only imagine this will not end well.

  • Ms Shanice... in the hospital? Ooo-wee. What a risky move, if I do say so!

Notes:

  • Alas, another breakdown by writer2. Really hoping he does not stay the entire year. Get rid of the deadweight. At least it is not Jazmen Darnell Brown or Danielle Paige, the best scriptwriters, saddled with his subpar breakdown this go 'round.

  • Love seeing Karla Mosley (Dani) in her mugshot top! What a throwback!
