I really can't believe Winterfest lasted 1 episode LOL. After months of talking about it, planning for it... for 1 episode?

WinterFest was a DUD.

And we didn't get to see what was really happening between Vernon/Sharon? So I guess he decided not to go through whatever he was planning to do..

I was so wrong about Vernon singing at the Fest. Instead, they're dragging out this insipid "Is he cheating?" storyline and substituting "legends" like Keke Wyatt.

Why did so much happen OFF SCREEN?

That's one reason the whole thing was a dud. Why mention the auction a dozen times and never show it? Then Eva takes Izaiah ice skating -- wearing that Ace bandage dress -- and all we get is a 10-second scene telling us that he fell down on the ice.

Vanessa getting drunk and making herself look stupid over Joey of all people was pathetic.

What the hell are they doing to the Vanessa character? These scenes all tell us she's really falling for the Golden Corral Casino Mobster. If at some point we find out she's trying to take down Joey, they're crazy if they think we're going to forget all this crap.

Kat can be annoying, but she is the one dodging a bullet by not moving in with Tomas. He is trying to build his social/personal rep for moving up in the firm and he's using Kat to do that.

Exactly. I don't know how anyone can criticize Kat for any of that. Honestly, though, Kat is behaving differently with Tomas than she did. It's a 180 and she doesn't seem all that interested in him.

-- I cannot believe we got TWO MONTHS of WinterFest buildup and ended up with this.

-- Were there good/fun moments? Yes. But Vanessa's tongue, Leslie's Pepe LePew, and Dani's (harmless) shade at Ashley do not make up for "I can't believe that happened" or "That was so good."

-- The intro of Greg Vaughan was good, but again, that doesn't make up for the lack of anything else.

-- One thing they got right was having a ton of extras, but having someone like Martin missing -- a Congressman who's been talking about a tough re-election campaign -- made no sense.

-- The changes on the writing team are not working out.

  • Amazing work by Zimmerman and Tate handling such a cast-packed day. Nothing felt too overpaced or underdone. Everything flowed effortlessly well.

  • The introduction of Greg Vaughan's Kial felt natural. He fits right into the cast already. And the chem-testing with Daphnée Duplaix (Nicole) is electric already. They have got it.

  • It is cast overload today; it is giving me old-school soap days when we had the collective cast on one central set.

Agreed. I especially enjoyed the infusion of humor sprinkled throughout. Had me chuckling.

It was great and was just nice to have that kind of episode. Loved it.

I'm still catching up. Last week was hectic for me so I fell behind, but whoever said the wardrobe for Winterfest was all over the place was absolutely right. Everyone at that party was going to a different event.

I can't believe that Winterfest is only one episode. It seemed like a lot of buildup for nothing of major consequence to go down. I still need to catch the rest of today's episode but based on the comments on here I am surprised it was cut short.

Any possibility that what we got is a modified version of what was originally intended? Maybe with all the changes BTS they didn't want to suddenly ignore the event considering it had been mentioned so much, but at the same time what was planned as a major reveal was scrapped??

While it was a nice event, I was hoping for a secret or two to come out.

I still think the co-head writer switch affected this because Guza was all about big parties and secrets being revealed when he was head-writing GH and who knows what the new kid on the block specializes on.

Just saw your comment after I posted mine. Also wonder if those changes played a role in how WF played out.

They need an excuse for what we ended up getting. That was not good soap and I don't understand how anyone can be satisfied with it.

Finally sitting down for Winterfest.

GV had me at first frame. Ted can STAY...PRESSED.

Early faves clothes-wise is Nicole, Andre, Dani (it's sooo Dani I can't hate it), and especially Vernon with his suave fox self.

And I hollered (and rewind) Naomi shading Hayley.

It goes look like Andre/Dani/Bill/Hayley are already going to be the focus this week and as they are A story I have NO problem with that.

And I'm enjoying all the extras. Not to mention seeing all the regulars and supporting characters mingling.

Doesn't make sense really to have a bunch of cast together, extra set pieces, and very little of consequence going on. What even was the point?

I must be easy to please, i just finished watching and enjoyed the heck out of todays episode. Sure, I wish there was another day of Winterfest and more drama, but I didn't mind what we got at all.

  • Member

Yeah, I am in the minority as well because I did like it.

HOWEVER, you can't hype that up and then...give us nothing. Granted the synopsis for the week looks great, but that is stuff that all could have happened at Winterfest.

And I really wanted to see Bill as MC.

Otherwise, love the music and getting everyone together. Puts you in the holiday spirit.

I love seeing Greg on-screen though - he already naturally fits

I agree. All things aside, it WAS good music.

Same.

I like Dr Rollins so far and Greg made the character lived in already if that makes sense.

Im all in with Leslie and Marcel at least for however this game last

Very much makes sense. I see why GV was excited to do him.

Same.

Very. I am hoping that this is leading to his exit storyline.

I just finished today's episode and enjoyed it very much, but I will say I was expecting something "big" to happen. I was expecting something to happen between Leslie and Laura. Maybe Leslie elude to running her off the road while making another threat to Laura only for someone else to overhear. Jacob? Marcel? or even Naomi?

I also thought Leslie was going to make a "big announcement" to everyone at Winterfest about how Vernon was having an affair with Sharon only to have Vernon and Sharon reveal a surprise for Anita they were conspiring together to bring to fruition.

Sadly, neither happened.

I did find myself chuckling several times at the humor in the day's episode. The dialogue was great and even Vanessa sticking her tongue out at Leslie was a riot. Vanessa is a wreck and I wish the writers would figure out what they want that character to be.

The Dani/Ashley scene was unexpected and nice to see Dani taken down a notch from her usual over the top performances.

Greg Vaughan was great! I can't wait to see how he fits in. As others have said, I think Ted is a lost character right now. The show needs to figure out what to do with him too. I liked his scenes the other day with Shanice but I don't see them as a couple. I'd rather they explore Ted and June a bit more.

Yeah, even this show was having an event every week starting out if not every other week. I miss that.

-- A big deal was made of Leslie's involvement in the Fest, but we got nothing but a Pepe LePew insult at a character no one cares about.

-- Why not have Tracy and Sharon sing if honoring Barbara was so important? Instead we got Keke singing one Christmas song.
