Next week's previews have me concerned. Most of it was post-Winterfest. I get not wanting to spoil too much of Winterfest, but this leads me to believe Winterfest is like 1-2 days max and then it's over. That's very short for such a big event that's been hyped for months.

The promos for this soap have been nonexistent. Is that because CBS doesn't feel it has nothing going on?

Did they continue today's episode with Nicole meeting the doctor from her blind date? Reading Errol's post tells me no. What awful pacing by MVJ.

  • Not Jacob having something negative to say about Eva, and he barely even knows her.

Notes:

  • I never expected Dunn and Paige to work together, but they are a dream team! Hope to get more from them as we head into 2026.

Jacob is on the outs with his shrew of a wife Naomi so he has to play along in order to get back into her good graces, plus he being the older brother.. he also looks down on those that aren't 'perfect' like him.

Dunn was one of the break down writers I read wasn't staying when season 2 hits, which is a shame because he was a good break down writer that had worked with MVJ going all the way back to her days on Santa Barbara.

-- The writers need to do better, though, with throwaway dialogue. Today, Eva dropped a line that she really didn't care what she wore to WinterFest. Huh? This is a girl who cares about everything she wears, and we can see party choices all over her couch. Then Leslie shows up and Eva is wowed by what she brought her -- just by pulling down the garment bag zipper. She didn't even look at the thing.

-- Pacing continues to be a problem. Ted is just now getting after Tomas for sleeping with Kat and Eva? This should have already happened. Instead, we're all saying "Where's the father in all this? Ted is absent and doesn't care." We get one "gotcha" after another like this -- the show reminding us they haven't forgotten anything. As I've said before, they play this card too frequently.

That B&B style is what's hurting this show more than anything

They continue to lay this Vernon/Sharon thing on thick - so annoying. We know he isn't cheating... and if he really is, that would be disgusting and lazy writing because Ted and Bill already have.

So so tired of this fake Vernon/Sharon thing.

I want WF 2026 to be a grand affair. CBS open up them purse strings a bit lol.

Leslie and Marcel are a good looking match made in hell. Im loving this distraction from Teddy Weddy at least for a bit.

I figured we weren't going to see Dr Rollins until next week. Im no soap rookie.

Kat lets Eva get in her head too damn much. Eva does something, Kat reacts, her family doesn't respond the way she wants and now we got her contemplating moving in with the walking dead. Ugh

Sign me up for Leslie and Marcel.

-- A minute after I brag on the wardrobe and styling on GATES, Eva shows up in a WinterFest dress with cutouts and boots -- and is all kinds of wrong.

-- "Articulettes Strong" was back. Ugh.

-- Ending the show and the week with the stupid "Is Vernon cheating" storyline was a poor decision. We had A LOT of buildup to this WinterFest thing, and it looks like that's not going to pay off.

Cuz you know I had to squeeze in some viewing between work so let me get this off my chest...

TRACY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Look at those anvils!!! Devon and the weather deal with Barbara! Laura's very presence and now Anita bringing up (recapping really) the fact that Kat and Jacob had gone after SPS. Who is about to have total recall on that crazy heffa???

Dunn isn't my favorite breakdown writer, but this episode has a nice build that reminds me of the build for the anniversary party.

Love seeing all the recurring characters that I like so far.

PS. TeamKat

To be fair...the anniversary party was hyped, too, and that was 3 days worth of episodes, not including aftermath episodes I believe.

The show went through so much heavy storyline this year that they set themselves up for a lull at the end of the year.

I don't know if pacing is actually the main issue, or if we're missing some vital steps/scenes.

Case in point:

Jacob/Naomi are now acting all romantic and affectionate proclaiming that couples therapy is working. Say what!?!?! Naomi was a raging bitch to everyone several episodes ago and now she's all positivity? I'm not buying what the writers are selling here. I would have liked to have seen a scene or two of the duo in therapy discussing their issues in order to give more weight to their relationship and obstacles.

Chelsea's whole story/arc has hardly had any sort of focus or attention since day #1 except when it came to her wanting to fire Dani as her momager.. but that was only because it was about Dani and not Chelsea. The whole trople situation came out of nowhere, the whole kidnapping came out of nowhere, the insta-relationship between Madison/Chelsea came out of nowhere, and now I'm expecting to care that the two are fighting about Madison's mom that we've never met or actually care that the two are having problems when we've hardly seen the two in a relationship?

Tomas/Eva/Kat has had focus.. but her suddenly being all starry eyed over Tomas after the way he cheated on her with Eva still baffles me (although her reaction to him suggesting they move in tells me that she isn't all starry-eyed as she pretends so perhaps she's only with him to stick it to Eva). Eva and Tomas' brief scene indicates to me that the writers aren't quite done with that, but she has a good rapport/chemistry with Izaiah so I'm hoping the show doesn't revisit that since the scene between them after they hooked up seemed final to me.

When Derek/Ashley have a more natural linear progression in their relationship... you know you have problems LOL

The scenes of the Dupree's gaslighting Kat about Eva is sadly a thing in most families.  Is Kat being self-centered, or is she being self aware enough to know that the way her family is behaving about Eva is not a rational nor healthy thing?

Just the way Naomi was talking about family and loyalty made me truly see the power and hold that dysfunction has over individuals. Which is what I wish the show would have focused on with her character.. her anger and snapping at Jacob is projecting feelings/resentments she can't express toward her whole family.

I wish the show could show one of the Dupree's, or even one of Vanessa's kids, realizing that the family isn't so healthy and break ties/go no contact since that is happening in 2025 with a lot of Millennials and Gen Z kids.

Can Greg Vaughn act? Because I think Nicole deserves a Hot Guy Winter.

That was a nice shout out to Kristoff St John, mentioning Neil. I gave up Y&R a long time ago, but Neil was always a favorite.

You are so right about all of this. When I saw Naomi and Jacob kissing affectionately, I felt like I missed a month of episodes. I just don't get it. There's no sense creating major marriage drama unless there's follow through.

Agree here, too. Everyone in this family is so lacking in self-awareness that it's unreal. No one can read the room because they're so caught up in The Dupree of it all.

-- I have to return to a comment I made yesterday about the fashion on BTG. I posted all that praise when I saw Nicole. The problem was that after that, I saw fit after fit that didn't fit the occasion. So many characters didn't look like they were dressed for something supposedly special like WinterFest.

Anita looked good, but Sharon and Tracy were dressed in outfits that looked like they were going on a ski weekend. Vernon wore a leisure suit from the '70s. Either that or he was leaving for a safari.

I guess Chelsea looked OK, but I've seen her look better when having lunch at Orphey Gene's. Marcel was supposed to be a bit out of place, yet wore what looked like a really expensive fit from J Crew.

So much was made of Eva's dress, and what we got was an abomination. Looked like someone decided to wrap her in mummy bandages but left huge gaping holes. But yeah, let's also give her wild boots to go with it. Then Leslie shows up wearing pants. Huh?

-- The Christmas decor at the country club is a big letdown. It just didn't scream "wealth" to me in any way. I also rolled my eyes every time a character pointed to something happening OFF CAMERA. I guess we're supposed to pretend WinterFest is something special.

-- An why didn't we see who Nicole saw getting off the elevator at the hospital or see his arrival at the event? I understand making your audience wait, but maybe giving us this or ANYTHING would have made the Friday show decent.
