-- I know the budget is a huge problem.

Still, although I love all the returns, I wish the show did a better job with why they're all back one day and gone the next.

-- The 60th celebration at the Square was fine, but also odd. When speeches were made, the crowd and speaker were never in the same camera shot. Felt like the speeches were taped separately and inserted.

-- The speeches themselves were nothing special. I wanted words that really pulled at the heartstrings, but didn't get it.

-- Paulina's speech was particularly bad, with a really weird delivery by Jackee.

Yeah, I wasn’t really moved by the gala either. They talked so much about Tom… but what about Alice? Mickey? And Bill! Honestly, I would’ve preferred the Hortons just sitting in the living room at the Horton house, reminiscing, with more rare flashbacks. No need for a big gala.

I mean, it is called the Dr Tom Horton Free Clinic, so it was kind of... a given he'd be talked about predominately? No?

Lol. Right?  I mean the show could have framed the 60th anniversary in a different way, but the narrative was celebrating Tom and the hospital.

Also, what a weirdly sexist bunch of posts about women's nail polish.  Like, yes, this is Days problem lol.  Stacy Haiduk isn't a good Kristen because she doesn't wear nail polish?  Are we in the 1950's???

It absolutely was; the narrative was there, and they followed it promptly.

Maybe that's back when women had babies at young ages?!?!?

It was not that she wasn't wearing nail polish, it is that she managed to get a manicure in prison

This is DAYS, the show that said you could brainwash anyone with simple kitchen appliances.  An actor's nail polish or lack thereof should be the least of our concerns, lol.

But that's not weird... nail polish is allowed in prisons via commissary. Same with general makeup, haircuts, and hair colouring products.

No.  I recall there was also a mention about how distracting it was EOB's Gwen wasn't wearing nail polish as well.  That it was someone's pet peeve. And, yes, the fact characters can have a manicure in prison is the wildest continuity issue here.

I did not care, just clarifying that was the discussion point. If there are ice cream bars in Statesville I am sure there is a full spa

Gosh, Suzanne is such a classic - truly a beautiful person, inside and out.

I'm so glad she's still on the show. Seems like she may have dropped a hint about the real source of conflict between her and Dee, too.

I am sure "no one cares" and it's not a big deal to some people, but this thread is full of certain posters calling out women's ages, their viability to have children at like 35, and their nail polish, but we celebrate everything Chandler Massey does and applaud any male shirtless scenes.  And then posters walk back being like it's just a joke and weren't serious lol.

Oh, wow... where can I find this interview?

Anyway... Kristen should have a prison lesbian story arc. And then come out and become obsessed with Marlena so we can move her on from the Brady nonsense. Is that secret room still in the DiMera mansion?

I don't know.  The animosity seems to be more recent than the mid 80s.  When Maggie was a victim of the Salem Stalker i remember reading an interview with Suzanne where she said they aired the episode(s) surrounding Maggie death in a theatre and made a big deal about it.  Suzanne was very upset about being fired and Dee comforted her and said that they were making such a big deal about it because it was Suzanne/Maggie.  I cannot find the article but I will keep trying.

That said Suzanne's comments on Soapy about how some of the female cast members treated her during her illness was disappointing to hear to say the least.

Upon reflection, I think you're right, their chilliness toward each other was more recent. She said women on the show in 1984 were not supportive and she still stays away from them. She seems friendly with Susan Hayes so Deidre is the only woman still around from those days, though I guess Kristian Alfonso and Leann Hunley could also qualify. And it might be someone long gone but who is still present in Suzanne's social circles.
