Welcome back, Sami and Lucas!

But it's really too bad that he's not the one that she's engaged to. I'm not really sure about having Sami be engaged to some random guy that's related to Ava though. I mean, what's the point of it all if she's not gonna be sticking around? It was nice seeing her reunite with Lucas, then with EJ. I'm glad that she and Lucas got the chance to finally make peace over the kidnapping. Sami is still seems as grown up and mature as she was the last time that we saw her and I hope that she hasn't regressed. I was never a fan of all that Hurricane Sami crap lol I hope EJ is wrong about why she's engaged to someone else, especially after the way that she and EJ discussed Johnny today. It would really undercut all the growth and development she's had over the last few years.

And I'm glad Kate got to have scenes with both Lucas and Philip, despite Philip making some stupid faces again. I wouldn't mind her getting involved with this possible mess coming up at Titan. She definitely needs more to do than just running the Pub

Speaking of that mess, Maggie putting up the Kiriakis estate as collateral for a loan seems very sudden and random. I really think they should have established that better. But I'm glad that she got to reminisce with Julie. And I love the fact that we're getting flashbacks to things that we've never seen before. Btw, Alice seemed a little tone deaf in that first flashback 😂😂

Too bad that Bo and Hope can't make it back for the gala though.

As for Jennifer, she was still douchy today but I really enjoyed her and Chad going head to head. It was a good fight. They've done a good job with establishing why Jennifer is acting like this. Chad brought up a lot of interesting points about Jennifer today as well. I wouldn't mind there being a custody battle over Thomas and Charlotte.

And, I guess we finally found out how Cat knows Sami.

@AbcNbc247 Alice didn't know that Doug and Julie had been lovers at that point.  They'd kept it a secret from most because Julie was still married to her first husband.  So Alice was clueless about how Julie would react to the news.

They've pulled out some great, less common flashbacks for this week! Even if the transitions in and out of some of them have been... heavy-handed, I'll take it.

I only got about halfway through Tuesday's episode this morning and will have to finish later, but I was actually surprised that Sami forgave Lucas so easily. I assume this is the new regime's way of clearing the decks there. Just very un-Sami to accept an apology so readily. I'm not sure what to make of this thing with her being engaged, except...

Spoiler

I wonder if there's any way that "Dante Vitali" could be another of Dimitri's aliases, and he's trying to use Sami to rebuild his fortune or something?

Maybe something toward the end of the episode invalidates my theory, but I'm trying to make sense of why they threw that in there.

Thanks!

I’d love to see more of 70s Alice. Based on what I’ve read, it sounded to me like she was the bad guy in some storylines.

No, Jennifer, you just ran down Jack's daughter, Gwen, while high on pills.

She could be.  When she finally found out about it after Addie died she wrongly assumed that Doug and Julie had been together while Addie was alive and married to Doug.  She told Julie she hoped she lost her baby (with Bob Anderson), which Julie did.

I won't lie, I was really hoping Sami's engagement was going to be to Brandon. I feel very uncertain about creating a new Vitale, when I thought we were finally rid of Ava for good. With her saying they wouldn't even know each other, I hope that remains the case. Still, colour me impressed they picked up the hinted at Cat/Sami connection. I thought with Sami's last visit that it was dropped. Just for confirmation, that was EJ in the bed right?

Loved seeing Lucas again. I hope he gets reunited with Mike, too. Weird Allie wasn't mentioned though.

Melissa Reeves and Billy Flynn are doing great work going up against each other. I'm so happy Jennifer is able to have these sort of flaws. I'm absolutely against what she's doing, but completely understand why she would do it. If Chad moves back into the DiMera mansion, that is bound to only make matters worse. But screw Justin, it would have been great if she said Frankie was going to be her lawyer.

What can I say about the Julie and Maggie scenes? I ate them up. SSH and SR have never lost it. Maggie is another I really want to see with Mike again, and to reunite with Jeremy too since she's the only one that really cared about him last time he was in town.

I do also hope Sarah is included in all this Horton-ness. She is far too removed from them generally, which makes no sense to me as she's basically the main heroine these days. She also needs to reunite with Mike, and should be another that accepts Jeremy, to Stephanie's chagrin.

Is real-Gwen actress pregnant? What's up with the trenchcoat indoors?

Also, it hit me that it would have made WAY more sense for Ari to be there with Holly and Tate to hear the Horton stories since she's actually...a Horton. I'm not sure if they've had her interact with the Hortons at all since she's been on the show. Her absence for those scenes on Monday were very glaring in my opinion.

That being said, today and yesterday reminded me of how I would probably watch the show on a daily basis again if the Hortons were featured more. I feel like the Dimeras have been the family that ate the show.

My god I’m loving the flashbacks we have been seeing!

Does anyone know who the man is in the scene when Doug told Julie Addie had died?

That was Julie's husband, Bob.

If anything, these rolls down Horton memory lane have only proven how fascinating and complex they are and could continue to be. They never needed the big bad DiMeras to cause problems for them because they were more than talented enough at doing that all on their own.

I assume so—though Wuthering Heights isn’t worth a second read.  Personally, I wish they'd gone back to Cat's love of GTA.  I'd bet EJ is a gamer on the side.

side note: how cute would a Discord romance plotline be a soap?  Two unlikely gamers meet every night online to play, fall in love, and realize that his mother shot her father.

What puzzles me is whether EJ ever clocked Cat. Has he? He’d certainly recognize her.  Or, did he think she was Abigail?  I've never understood why Clyde had her surgery to resemble Abigail, rather than actually look like her, since that is what Andre did when he borrowed Tony's face.

The timeline’s a mess. When Chad saw Cat on video in 2024, she was supposedly in the same facility as John Black, when he was kidnapped in Greece—since they rescued both at once. That’s likely why Clyde got name-dropped during the Thomas conversation. And EJ and Cat lived in the Dimera mansion together for months with little to no interaction.

But EJ returned in June 2021 (after being shot in 2014).

So how long was Cat recovering from her accident?   If they met while he was recovering, but she was already out of bandages. -- Also, in the flashback with Shane, when we learned she was in the ISA, she was in a government clinic.  So why did she switch clinics so often?

ALSO

Given how much they all fear going to court, I assume they're making Jen a witch, so Chad, Thomas, and Charlotte move back to the mansion, giving Rachel more access to Thomas.

You are absolutely correct.  DOOL was extremely compelling when the Horton family was front and center in nearly every episode.  Especially when Bill Bell was head-writing, but even after that as well.  The Hortons were never a boring middle-class core family.  Middle-class, yes, but many members of the Horton clan were flawed in big wonderful ways.  And they certainly did cause a lot of trouble for themselves (and one another).

By the way -- does anyone know if there is a way for non-subscribers to Peacock to view the past few episodes?  Thanks for any advice.
