I suppose FV and CVE were hoping Viki/ES nostalgia would be enough to grab viewers.

I think that's part of it (and maybe they are hoping Erika will return someday), although I wonder how much is just Frank wanting to help someone he's close to after her recent loss and getting to see her play some dramatic material.

Bringing in a relative for Monica along with Ronnie would have made sense, although the canvas is already so full, especially for what the Qs need (a young woman). For long-term story they should have considered it as there's nothing left now beyond more Drew vs Q stuff.

I will just go ahead and say it- I’ve never really loved Wally Kurth as Ned. Even at his most calculating it never suited him as much as romantic comedy and more emotional material with romantic partners. He’s a good actor, but I have always thought Ned should have been more ruthless. The gatekeeper stuff didn’t help, because he always played it like he was put upon. Making him more of a fixer, like a Quartermaine Olivia Pope, capable of really skirting the line would have been better. Plus all his major relationships are drama dead ends. Of all the Q’s, Ned ending up with a scheming gold digger to vex him, Tracy, and the family was something that could have kept him relevant. Olivia and Lois look down on the family, Jenny was a nothing character, and Alexis was just more interesting at the time and clearly not going to be endgame.

Ned should have had at least a slight glance at the situation before just accepting it and also backing Olivia.

I never liked him either. I always thought he was a sanctimonious ass and Ned/Alexis bored the hell out of me as a pairing. And all the singing and the leather pants...

Having Ronnie turn out to be a pure ogre and leaving behind some long-suffering young person as a new character would have been ideal. But Frank continues to expect GH fans to coronate and roll out the red carpet for any OLTL star, and was fine with once again trying to humiliate Tracy to make it work. He thinks it's 2013 and he and Ron are still the toast of the town who 'saved soaps' and own OLTL in perpetuity.

I love Erika and tbqh it's really not that serious for the cast and crew, who by all accounts loved having her. I'm glad she was able to focus on getting back to work at a time she likely needed it. I'm always glad to see her, but I wish this had been done differently. Of course I wish many things on this show were done differently, top to bottom.

I like Wally/Ned fine. Do I think he's a leading man? No, not for many, many, many years. And I always found the singing, etc. cringeworthy. But I do like Ned for who he is (often a pompous, scheming ass) and I wish they used him better.

I don't really dislike Wally Kurth himself. He's a bit smug onscreen but he's a decent actor and does work well with a number of people. My issue with Ned is how he was framed in the years when he was a prominent character. I think that hurt him and the Quartermaines and he was lucky to make it out of that era alive.

I think anything they did with Ronnie was going to be limited in impact, although if Erika had just been a huge bitch onscreen and been killed off that could have been fun. I actually like the idea of her starting out as a relatively decent person and then turning to a scheme due to Tracy being Tracy, but she wasn't on long enough for that to have an impact and then having Tracy written off by her family (again) tips the scales too much in the writing.

If you take ES entirely out of the equation, the character of Ronnie was pointless.  I don't begrudge her for taking the job or even Frank reaching out to her.  But helping out FV's friends has long grown tired for me.  So, it honestly doesn't matter how great Erika is or how great her work is-I am just done with it, especially when it doesn't move any story.

I have always loved Ned, but I can see the singing and leather pants was a bit of an odd fit for a ruthless business man.  Although I did love the Lois/Ned/Katherine arc.

The Gio/Tracy relationship is literally gold, and yet GH continues to downplay it in favor of Gio having a relationship with his half dead schmuck grandfather 🖕

We get more of them than I thought we might get. I just wish she was teaching him lessons too instead of him being a moral voice to her.  At least she is still allowed to hate Sonny.

-- I'm actually OK with the Slezak stuff. I didn't expect much better than this. It was great to see her, and we got some good scenes, ending with Tracy getting the house.

-- Was it great or even good? It was meh, but if we remove all those scenes, I don't think the show is any better. I don't trust that we'd see anything that was "you blew me away" material.

-- The scenes that worked for me today were Tracy/Gio and Alexis/Danny. Lots of emotion, well-played by all of them.

-- The Sonny/D.A. scenes are cringe. Just embarrassing. Nothing we got with the Ronnie storyline was this pathetic.

That goes without saying lol.  Ronnie's nothingness is better than whatever is happening there.

Oh God Sonny and the ADA. My eyes are stuck in the back of my head.

I must admit, I've never listened to their conversations. I always FF when it's just them.
