Yes. And he still seems to be doing OK. (he was more interesting in that web soap than he ever was on Y&R)

Did we not know that Griffith would ruin this actor's presence on the show by saddling him with this character.  OMG this is in the vein but worse than Billy Flynn as Cain. FIRE Steve Kent and Josh Griffith. My God, Brock. 

@YRfan23 Does this mean our Christmas classics this year will be of Matt raping Sharon in 1994 and then of Matt & Sharon at the cabin in 2001? Nothing like Josh Griffith giving us “Holiday cheer” 🤣

I'm not hating that lmao.

He must really need a check if he's willing to portray another rapist. That's one type of character that it would be ugly to be type cast as and there's no way the producers didn't take Todd Manning into account when asking Howarth to take this on.

Talk about pigeon-holing yourself in certain roles. You'd think after playing Todd, a role he didn't care for at times, he'd not want to play a r*pist again, but OK. 

Can we just talk about how lazy JG is? You literally brought Cameron back not too long ago. Then you had Sharon chained in sewer not too long ago. Can she get a subtle, moving story that does not involve her getting violated? 

The obvious story would've been to explore Sharon's father. I don't think it's ever been addressed, and that could lead to Sharon having new family, which is where Tamara and Roger could've been brought in. 

But whatever. I am just a poster on soap forum. What do I know...

Tamara and/or Roger playing Sharon's relatives (and still being potentially bad news) could've been legitimately interesting.

I will admit I am, again, amazed RH would take another role like this after he's been very candid about his struggles with Todd, even in recent years. I guess he could use the money.

The way JG writes is basically:

JG sees some old movie and decides he wants to do a story where Nikki is kidnapped. He asks the Y&R historian what villains would have a grudge against Nikki and is told Eve Howard. He's down for it until he's told Eve is dead... no problem, he'll give her a sister, how about Colleen Zenk? And then when he hears Victoria was married to Eve's son and they had a DEAD BABY, he's like, jackpot... 

A decision is made to hire Trevor St. John. He wants to make him some kind of sarcastic business tycoon with strong ties to the canvas, so they choose to make him Tucker McCall, despite the totally wrong age and vibe.

A decision is made to hire Billy Flynn. He decides he'll be a Gatsby type character with a great love and he's become a crypto bro to win her back and also something with AI would be good because business. So he asks around what male characters are there who used to be on the show whose love interest is still on canvas, and they decide it will be Cane trying to win Lily back, and then try to figure out a static set where everyone can convene (contract cast only with the recurring characters taking a late train in).

A decision is made to hire Roger Howarth and JG decides he will be part of a noir storyline (whatever that means). He has to be a villain and it has to be big. It would be great if it somehow involved rape. So someone reads wikipedia and explains to him there was this guy Matt Clark who raped Sharon, actually tried to rape her a bunch of times, and then died... ok, perfect! We'll bring Noah back and have this big splashy car accident but to make it more mysterious, we won't show it, and then we'll have him all bandaged, and Sharon can read him books and stuff (more literary references to show how smart he is), and we can have Claire randomly in LA to meet up with Nick and Sharon, and Holden will randomly know these people... we'll add another soap actress to show how big this is...

 

@BoldRestless When I read that it is just a heartbreaker. And this man is paid through the nose for material right through his ass.
