He wasn't the first or last soap scribe to do horror. Victor Miller from AMC created and wrote the original Friday the 13th, and is still locked in a dispute over the rights today (hence no new movies).

Mind blown!  I just read through his Wiki - had no idea!  I just watched the first Friday the 13th last weekend for the first time in my life LOL. I see he primarily wrote with McTavish, even in 1995-1996 at Guiding Light under her. Makes even more sense with the Brent Lawrence/Marian Crane storyline LOL.

'Excuse me. Can you find out what those two were having and make an order to go. For two.'

That was a great scene. I was surprised we heard some much sexier noise on a daytime soap!

I'm not sure if Miller was the male writer who went through hell with McTavish or not at AMC. @Khan might know. He pre-dates her considerably though, and IIRC per McTavish the Brent/Marion story at GL was mostly her own brainchild. I don't remember any indication that Miller drove a lot of horror story at AMC.

I'm honestly surprised Kat didn't moan his name. lol. But I totally agree. And just the twist/homage of the woman listening. I honestly thought she was going to tell on them. A nice (and funny) surprise.

I still suspect Izaiah is ultimately going to be a feint for Kat. The strife between Jacob and Naomi is not coincidental. I can see her clashing with the brother-in-law and them ending up in a tryst, which in turn leads Kat to Jacob finally.

I don't find either of the Hawthorne marrieds terribly interesting, but I do think Jacob and Kat have real chemistry. Still, I'm all for Izaiah mixing it up with Kat and Eva. Anything to get Tomas out.

My thinking is that Jacob's brother will want Kat while Eva will still want Tomas so the two will team up to break them up and probably fall for one another.  Still we'll have to see how the chemistry is between the actor that will play Jacob's brother and Kat/Eva.

@Rmodelboy@alwaysAMCHorror movies and soap operas have been linked quite a bit with performers doing both horror movies and soap operas.  The horror movie fan base can't be beat :)

The only other soap writer I know that did mystery thrillers as tv movies was Claire Labine (The Bride in Black starring Susan Lucci and She Woke up starring Lindsay wagner).

The original Friday the 13th is a soap opera with horror movie elements (the killer and their motives are what right out of a soap opera...imho).. and every female I show that movie to has said they understood completely the motive behind the killings.

So giving Carrie/Austin/Sami/Lucas circa late 90s DAYS...which I wouldn't mind at all. Though I would still want him with Kat and Tomas out. But I feel the writers really do want Eva/Tomas as the star-crossed lovers.

Speak on it!!! So very true. re: horror movies and soaps. Just look at all the discussion here. And we know I love my horrors. And soaps. :) I'm probably one of the few people that like that John Black recon with Tobin Bell as his father because I love me sum SAW.

Today's show annoyed me.

-- I like the candor when it comes to sex on this soap, but I don't like seeing characters behave without self-respect. Kat gave it up -- in a closet -- the day after her half-sister opened her thighs? Really?

-- And I don't like Eve chasing a guy who just screwed her, but is now apologizing and telling her he loves someone else.

-- Now Kat all of a sudden is in love with Tomas? In love with WHAT? We saw none of this before today.

-- I'd also love to know who thinks Alex Alegria deserves all this screen time. I mean, he's so damn bad, and they're giving him MORE to do.

-- Chelsea got on my nerves today. Her dialogue seemed weird, and I don't think people talk that way. All these family members being fine with seeing Kat and Tomas together make me sick.

-- In just a couple episodes, the Carlton character has lost his sexiness and swag. Why write him as someone who waited around for Nicole for DECADES? And he was very good friends with Ted? Awful writing.

-- Dani's talk about her marriage to Andre does nothing but put him down. There's nothing in it that leads us to believe she even cares about him long-term, let alone loves him. He sounds like a pit stop.

-- Alex Cheeks is doing a nice job as Donnell, but let's pump the brakes on "Give him an Emmy!" and "Lock him down before primetime and movies steal him!" I think that's a gross overreaction.

-- Lauren Bugoli as just been OK in these mourning scenes. I don't feel as if we're seeing a woman who's grieving. Part of it may because I think she's been such a slut since BTG premiered, but she's done nothing the past few episodes to make me feel her love for Doug was deep.

I see it more as she feels immense guilt over their last conversation and her blaming herself for his death....moreso then this deep romantic love for Doug

@TaoboiCharles Pratt Jr wrote a horror movie before writing soaps.  What's even odder was that not only did he write a horror movie, but also wrote an episode of Full House.  Talk about random writing gigs LOL

I can't say definitively, but I swear I remember Victor Miller surprisingly sticking up for Megan McTavish in some interview sometime after her last HW'ing stint.

Chuck Pratt wrote horror when he was writing soaps!

It was Wisner Washam who clashed with Megan McTavish

We Love Soaps: After some time away, you returned to ALL MY CHILDREN then left again for good. What led you to leaving?

Wisner Washam: Megan McTavish.

We Love Soaps: Interesting you say that. Among fans online, she is very unpopular writer in ALL MY CHILDREN history.

Wisner Washam: She wasn't a pleasant person to be with every day, I'll tell you that. She drove me away.

We Love Soaps: What was her role at that point on the staff?

Wisner Washam: She was one of the outline writers. But she has a big mouth. And a very domineering personality.

CBS in the afternoon, on Douglas Marland's network! What a time to be alive.

It's 2025, not 1985 🤣

They can't afford to give Alex Cheeks a contract; they tied up their payroll allocation on the award-winning Tomas.

Real Estate Barbie is mighty cute, and I always enjoy her scenes with Dani Dupree & Miss Nicole.  Real genuineness among them.

I'm glad Carlton finally got a thin shred of personality today.  It's sorta a shame that Dapnee Duplaix is wasted on a "relationship" with some recurring character who's barely even given a storyline crumb.
