Kind of cheesy but cute. They are putting Cricket's wedding dress up for a vote on instagram starting on September 19: https://www.usmagazine.com/entertainment/news/how-young-and-the-restless-fans-can-pick-crickets-wedding-dress/

This is all just so weird.  Cricket isn't even a contract character, and hasn't been for 20-ish years.  Same for Danny.  Why is their wedding even being written into the scripts?  They are the type of couple who should sail off to an island for their off-screen wedding. And return later -- or perhaps not return.

I LOVE soap opera nostalgia, and mining the past for storylines.  But Cricket and Danny's wedding will be nothing more than "filler" because Y&R currently has such weakly-written plots.   Why not write some romance for a few of the contract characters??

They don't want to write anything. It is much easier to rely on couples from back in the day so you can just refer to that history without showing anything (Victoria/Cole, Cricket/Danny) or have them sit around giving speeches about their great love (Victor/Nikki) or else just make up a backstory between characters and just talk about it (Audra/Holden).

Exactly right. I do not care about Cricket and Danny at this point, especially since Michael Damian is such an awful actor.

-- Speaking of soap opera nostalgia, Josh Griffith and the writers apparently think they were cool to have Phyllis snarkily tell Michael he's good at "breaking through walls."

That was clearly a reference to Michael's stalker days when he broke through walls to get at Christine. The rest of the show? Low energy scenes with one character talking to another -- all yawn-inducing.

I’m the exact fan Y&R is looking for. I would watch an episode of 80’s and 90’s flashbacks of Cricket and Danny when the show had a budget, over anything they’re airing today.

I agree that the Danny and Cricket wedding is random and out of left field. I would of preferred more build up and more screen time for both of these characters.

ALL that being said though, I will appreciate the change from having the same boring characters day in and day out (Cane, Phyllis, Sally, Billy, Claire, Kyle) to name a few has been exhausting to watch everyday. If JG invested a little more into Danny/Cricket and also gave us a funeral for Chance by bringing back Nina, Jill.. I would say the show is actually on the right track. Throw in the new storyline for Nick & Sharon involving Noah and I’d say hey, maybe we actually have a decent show on our hands again.

Nothing against the characters I mentioned earlier either, it just gets boring when it seems to be the only characters with a storyline being showcased. It’s boring.

I went on binge last night watching a bunch of old Jeanne Cooper interviews. God I miss that woman. She also just seemed so young and progressive for her age even though she had such a love for the soap genre and what soaps used to stand for. She was talking about how Y&R used to have a team of researchers who worked really hard to make sure the storytelling they did on the show was accurate and mirrored real life stories (cancer, serial killers, mental disorders, etc). She said that the show made a bet that if the story telling wasn’t accurate they had to give out a T-shirt any time a mistake was made & they only ever had to give out 2 T-shirts!

imagine how many T-shirts they would have to give out now. Sigh.

Cane is Billy's older brother.

Cane's twin's son is older than Billy.

Who is Cane's twin's son?  I don't recall.

Cane isn't actually Billy's older brother.
Years ago, Cane pretended to be Billy's older brother Phillip Chancellor III (Thom Bierdz' character).

But I don't think you were being literal?
I think you meant that Cane once impersonated Phillip III so Cane was supposed to be the same age as Phillip III.

I assume you were snarking about the Soras/DeSoras/recast birth order chaos?

Billy Abbott was overSORASed with the casting of Jason Thompson.
Cane Ashby was deSORASed with the casting of Billy Flynn.

Jill's sons:
Phillip Chancellor III born Born December 25, 1976
Billy Abbott born July 1993

Jill's grandson
Phillip Chancellor IV (aka "Chance") born 1988
(died 2025)

Cane and Lily's twins:
Charlie and Mattie Ashby born June 25, 2010

Chance was originally slightly older than his uncle Billy.
Billy and Chance both dated Chloe.

Billy was originally 11 years younger than Victoria.

There was no way any of that made sense.
And the SORAS of Charlie and Mattie made it all worse.
