I do get that sense.  It was a story they wanted to tell but didn't get the chance.  Which, again, doesn't negate the story currently playing.  It's just a lot of backtracking on what we previously knew about their relationship.

I assume you are talking about Theo/JJ, not Belle's asthma lol.

No, I am speaking on Belle's asthma. 🤣 So sorry! And we have seen worse retcons under the previous regimes, haha.

I am sure the untold story of Belle's asthma struggles is riveting though.  As riveting as anything else Belle does honestly.😂

Fair enough about previous retcons.

If it were Kirsten in the role, you would be loving it. 😘 (JK, jk).

If Kirsten was in the role Belle would be in an asthma related coma and gone indefinitely.

They acknowledged and explained Belle's sudden asthma attack as being brought on by a mix of EJ's cologne, her stress, and being trapped in close quarters with him. Obviously, her having it is new, but I bought that explanation just fine. It's really not that big of a deal in the grand scheme of things for me. Watch them ever mention it again though.

They have done more than enough to explain Theo's opposition to JJ for me as well. It makes total sense that once JJ became a cop again, Theo's dormant issues with him rose up again. Plus, we get to see two legacy characters, two who are played by good actors, have this natural conflict with each other. How wonderful that this was Cwikly/Ford's first major decision.

Anyway, I definitely don't think the Xander and Sarah drama is done. Them properly becoming closer should have been the prompt for Xander to admit the truth about beating up Philip . Sarah would have still have been pissed, but I think with the blackout they would have been forced to hash it out. As it stands, Xander has made Sarah look like a fool, and when the truth finally does come out, she's bound to blow up all over again ... and into the arms of Brady? We shall see.

One thing I found interesting, albeit unfortunate, about the Chad/Cat scenes, even the Sarah/Xander ones, is the fact that it seems proper love scenes are a thing of the past. Those kinds of scenes made a couple getting together feel so special and add to the emotional stakes of their bond, now it just seems like two people boned and that's that. Do other shows still do them? I know Beyond the Gates has dabbled.

Also, whatever the hell is wrong with Marlena is going in circles. The blackout should have been used to finally reveal it to us once and for all. And to make it worse, Susan still exists. True pain and torture.

Sue me, but I actually didn't mind Gwen beginning to thaw to Leo. But if he betrays her again regarding her involvement with EJ, I will accept nothing less than her shooting him dead. Q: Did she not debut on this show in a mental institution with Claire? Could we infer that could have added to her being so freaked out when she was trapped? Still, I wonder if she does thaw to Leo enough, if she'll use her money to help him and Javi adopt Tesoro.

In about eight or nine months. 🤣

Agreed.

I was recently watching Y&R from 1986, and they had a love scene go on for three separate segments.  The episode kept cutting back to the couple doing it on a bed.

These days, you hardly get a peck on the cheek.  Everyone wakes up naked in bed, under the strategic sheet that somehow covers her chest, and his waist.  But, there's no music laden humping.  If I wanted to see a couple talk in bed, I'd watch a coffee commercial.

Theo's return and in particular his reaction to JJ being back on the police force is exactly the type of writing I was hoping for from Jeanne and Paula.  Intelligent, emotional, topical and character driven. Hopefully Jeremy's return is just as impactful.

Well tbf, Sarah and Xander have had about 10 reunion love scenes already 😂😂😂

But I agree about Chad and Cat. I'm not a fan of them, but I do think they should've gotten more for their first time together.

-- I think rushed production schedules are the reason we don't get more love scenes on soaps these days. They time a lot of time to choreograph and direct and perform, and I have to believe that is one big reason we don't get many and why they're shorter in scene length.

-- I'm fine with the Theo PTSD, but I did not like the scene that started off today's run-in with JJ and Theo. Yes, there was a blackout, but JJ was MUCH too intense in yelling at someone out when he shouldn't have been.

He did sound as if the guy was committing burglary or an act of violence, and in my mind he  was every trait of a bad police officer in 2025. I cringed when JJ was yelling.

Yeah, JJ looked like a bad officer and was way too intense.  Odd way to develop JJ now.  It may have helped if the show used JJ for all the months Moss has been back.

Tuned in for a few episodes. The blackout did seem very lackluster. I'm not sure what the purpose was.

I'm finding I really like the new actor playing Theo. Maybe, now, they will FINALLY give the character some major story. I was pleased that they had Theo acknowledge the racial aspect. If I remember correctly from the original story, they danced around it, but they never actually went there.

I just can't watch Susan. That character needs a nice looooong rest.

I'll miss BF as Chad, but I can't get into the relationship with Cat, either.

Yet she fell asleep on his suit jacket, which I’m sure reeked of said cologne.

She also had her own perfectly good suit jacket she could have taken off and used.

The chaos that an overnight blackout had on the society of Salem seems overwrought. (looting, people afraid to leave their homes, people instantly kissing).

Especially when you take into account that the average citizens did nothing during multiple serial killers, demonic possessions, and submarines in the town's history.

I assume Gen Alpha is ruining the traditions of life in Salem. 😉
