Veteran soap actress Tamara Braun (“Days of our Lives,” “General Hospital”) is joining the cast of “The Young and the Restless” in the newly created role of Sienna Bacall, who has “personal connections to several characters” in Genoa City.
According to PEOPLE, which first reported the news, Braun, a two-time Emmy winner, will begin taping next week at the long-running drama’s Television City studio in Hollywood. She is set to make her first appearance on screen sometime later this fall.
Making her soap opera debut as a recast Carly Corinthos on “General Hospital” in 2001, Braun exited Port Charles in 2005, one year after receiving her first-ever Emmy nomination for Outstanding Lead Actress in a Drama Series for her portrayal. After several guest roles on shows like “House,” “Cold Case,” “Ghost Whisperer,” “Without a Trace” and “CSI: Crime Scene Investigation,” Braun returned to daytime in 2008 first on “Days of our Lives” playing Ava Vitali, a character that netted Braun her first-ever Emmy award win in 2009, this time for Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama Series, and later playing the newly created contract role of Reese Williams on “All My Children.”
After a short break from daytime, which saw her exiting Pine Valley in 2009, Braun returned to “Days of our Lives” in 2011, this time taking on the role of Taylor Walker, the younger sister of Nicole Walker. Braun left the soap the same year, only to return as Ava Vitali in 2015. By 2017, Braun had returned to “General Hospital,” this time playing Dr. Kim Nero, whose characteristics were completely different from her prior character, Carly Corinthos.
Braun won her second-ever Emmy award for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress in 2020 for her role as Kim on “General Hospital.” Also in 2020, Braun returned to “Days of our Lives” as Ava Vitali, a role she continued to play until earlier this year. She received two additional Emmy nominations for her portrayal, one in 2021 for Outstanding Supporting Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress and again in 2024 for Outstanding Lead Performance in a Daytime Drama Series: Actress.
