Let's give credit where credit is due. DAYS is finally re-learning how to braid plots across the boardroom, bedroom, and courtroom. I am currently enjoying DAYS taking three worn out soap topics (an unplanned pregnancy, and a corporate takeover, and a murder/shooting mystery) and interweaving them more than they had been in the past.  Those tropes may be familiar, but what’s new is how they’re being layered with each beat moving multiple stories instead of siloed arcs

I'm enjoying that too.

Characters, and their smaller storylines are being weaved in together over these overarching bigger storylines. People are interacting more, as opposed to being in their own bubbles. Javi, is another example of that too.

-- The best part of today's show was that Chad wore his tightest jeans. Billy Flynn still got Dat Ass!

-- The establishing shot of Rafe's house is as bad as the others. We go from what looks to be a nice-sized ranch home to the kichen that looks like it's 6'x8'. At best.

-- I understand plot, plot, plot, but wouldn't Xander hire a nanny to watch the kid during work hours?

Remind me again how One Stormy Night is better than Body & Soul? These new writers aren’t doing it for me. Yawn.

I don't like it, either, but it's not nearly as bad or as annoying as Body & Soul.

It warms my heart every day that the abomination that was Body & Soul has been erased from existence 😊😊😂😂😂

And yeah, I still think that the two guys who were responsible for it deserve to be run out of this business.

Finally, we got to see the next round of Tate vs. Doug III!

I'm glad that it happened, even though we didn't get the knockdown drag out brawl that I was hoping for. Their feud was one of the best dynamics of this whole storyline and both writing teams really needed to push it a lot more. Not only because it would have been fun to see, but because it also could have helped propel other parts of this storyline (Sophia and the baby, Holly/Ari, etc.) to reach their own turning points. And, Doug III did look hot in the beginning 😍😂😂

As for Tate's demand, I guess it means that the rumors were true.

Btw, Tate saving up money to buy a car instead of using it to help Sophia or something was a little stupid and selfish lol they really needed to push Tate's selfishness a lot more because it sometimes seems unintentional. Him (and Holly too) being selfish should be more a part of their characters.

I also enjoyed Holly and Ari's scenes in captivity. The actresses work well together and the fact that they're having disagreements about Doug III could lead to something interesting happening.

And we finally got to see the new courtroom set too. I don't mind it. And it's actually bigger than I thought it was going to be. But trying to make those scenes funny and humorous was the wrong choice. And there was wayyy too much Leo. He has no business being a juror in Johnny's trial. I'd much rather Amy had been selected as a juror, even though I don't like her either lol btw I wonder if her anti-EJ attitude was a sign of my earlier prediction about her.

There's that word "hot" again. I know what that means. 😂😍

I admit I haven't watched Days in some time now.

So the girls have been kidnapped?

That's an excellent prediction. I hadn't even considered it, but she fits the bill 100%: a good motive/low-stake character to toss in jail and leave Sofia further isolated, alone, and desperate. That would be a very good move.

Thanks!

I’ve had those suspicions from the very beginning. There were just some things that Amy said about EJ and the Dimeras that raised an eyebrow or two for me lol

Plus, we all know how Ron Carlivati feels about people of faith.

I was also wondering if Paula/Jeanne were gonna stick with Ron’s plan or change the identity of the shooter, whoever it may be

It’s been a while since I’ve said it, hasn’t it 😂😂😂

And yeah, Holly and Ari got kidnapped by Doug III’s loan shark.

Admittedly, I can agree that the momentum has dropped off a little since the last few months, but I’m still enjoying what I’m seeing.

And do I wish that Ron was back as head writer?

absolutely fucking not no way GIF
😂😂😂😂😂

With DAYS' zero dollar budget, I was quite happy with the (new?) decent court room set today. Much better than the broom closet they used for Philip's trial surrounding the letter.

I’m just happy Days at least tries. Most people  have homes, some of those homes even have bedrooms. There’s a police station. Only thing really missing still is a church set again.

Today was another mixed big. Not including Holly and Ari in the episode was a mistake.

There was a very strong emphasis on Sophia/Melinda, which wasn't necessarily bad but I just don't really have any interest in their association. I'd rather Sophia interact more with the younger crowd, even though I think Rachel Boyd has actually improved a little since Sophia gave birth and got involved with Melinda. But there were some things that I enjoyed about today. And it was good to finally see Shawn again.

And Tate actually did try to reach out to Sophia. Maybe he's not as selfish as I thought 😂😂

Unfortunately, Doug III looked pretty stupid today lol I don't think Paula/Jeanne have had much interest in the character, which is too bad because they made him a lot more complex than he already was. I just wish they had followed up with the already established character traits that he had when they first came on, particularly the feud with Tate. And if Doug III really is leaving Salem, hopefully he makes peace with Julie before he goes.

And, I appreciated the way that Xander's relationship with Victoria was written today. That's the father he's always been. And he did a very good job comforting Gabi too. I wouldn't mind something happening between them, and the effects that it could have on this messy Kiriakis family situation.

As for Cat... I've already said what I think of this ISA storyline 😂😂😂

It is an excellent idea for a character that suffered due to lackluster casting, a poorly established motive, and no established peer group (is he a teen?)😎.  We never knew Doug3's age.  We don't know why he doesn't speak French.  We don't know if he dropped out of High School in the US or France.  We don't know why his favorite authors are American, why he dressed like a nu-country singer, or how he knows so much about American popular culture.

So, I hold out hope that he's an imposter, and we'll meet the actual Douglas LeClair somewhere down the road.🇫🇷

Can we agree

  1. Cat's backstory still makes no sense, logically.
    1. If she was working for the ISA, and Clyde blew up the car with her Mom & Dad
      1. And if the ISA (aka Andrew) saved her and John from being Clyde's hostages
      2. Then why did they let her perpetrate a fraud against Chad, and ruin her brother's medical career by having him try to shoot Chad in Paris?
    2. If Shane said Cat was "one of the best analysts the ISA had", why is she suddenly talking about being a field agent?
  2. The idea that EJ has a secret sponsor contradicts the established story
    1. He made the offer for the hospital right after Titan purchased Dimera
    2. It was established that he used those funds from the purchase to buy the hospital
    3. There's been no prior mention or concern that Versavix would take years to turn a profit
    4. So, why all of a sudden did he need a backer, and why is leveraging a loan to buy a hospital a crime worthy of the FBI and the ISA

I am proud of all of us for staying away from the low-hanging fruit of Johnny's trial, and just appreciating the new set.😉👏🏼⚖️

  • The victim is defending the accused
  • The entire jury pool hates the defense attorney
  • The memory card's images would never be accepted into evidence because the timeline of how Belle got it would be questioned, and she never validated the video
    • They never tested if camera held the memory card
    • They don't know when the video was shot
    • They don't know who sent the evidence to Belle, and what was their motive
  • How does the defendant (Johnny) not know when juror selection begins?
  • Why would Jada would show the memory card video to the mayor, but not Chanel, when she was questioned

Because structurally, it seems like a semi-clever way to establish how Amy knows there's a recently abandoned baby in Salem.  And, Leo knows it is her grandchild.
