I agree. At this point, Drew is doing so much that surely Portia can trip him up. Better yet...bring Ava back into it. Ava will surely stay having Trina's mama's back.

I also hate her being powerless as well. It's a waste of BR's talents. It's part of the reason I noticed the aforementioned scenes cuz BR was playing something different rather than weak, but she was also adding layers to what Portia was doing that I actually had her side though she was making her issues with Curtis worse.

Yeah, I don't think Brook Kerr necessarily plays it weak, but more backed into a corner and a bit stupidly.  She needs to come up with a smarter plan instead of being so reactionary.  Go to Michael.  Go to Tracy.  Use your big brain!  And, frankly, give up on Curtis.  His judgey behavior isn't worth her time.

Agree. And those are definitely fresh options.

I never knew how they managed to stay together the last time a secret got between them since Curtis dropped Jordan at the drop of a hat.

I’m ready for people to start pulling out their guns and talking to themselves portion of the story when it comes to all Drew has done.

Portia doesn't have a lot of nuance to me. She's written so harshly. During the Heather stuff, she was portrayed as a shrew when she was merely defending her daughter. She's desperate when it comes to Curtis. This Drew situation also isn't helping.

I find Portia unlikable, and BK doesn't really do it for me. I just see Whitney Russell as a doctor. The writing and one-note acting need to change, IMO.

Someone like Maura West knows how to give a character layers when the writing fails. But GH is wasting her talents. She should be driving and not settling for random airtime.

Cynthia Watros is also being badly misused. She is a powerhouse, but her dialogue only consists of Drew and Willow.

I don't remember the last time Portia got something right. She makes more wrong decisions and more wrong moves than anyone on this show.

Can't believe I'm saying this, but that's exactly what she needs to do.

It's probably the way DT plays Curtis, but it almost feels like he enjoys holding this over Portia's head and now what he says goes.  Idk, I never liked the pairing so I could be skewed in the way I view it.

It's a great way to start a murder mystery.  Nina's secret just needs to come out so everything can start coming together.

Like I said, I really think Curtis likes holding another secret over her head.  The betrayal!  Just get out Portia!  Find a man you don't have to be perfect and lie to so you can be with him without worrying the other shoe is going to drop every minute.

The murder mystery lives on.

She doesn't. ;) However, I was pointing out specific scenes that I was watching recently where BK was giving more than she normally does though my opinion might vary because I do think BK is a good actress when she's given something to work with and sometimes in spite of the slanted writing she tends to get ie: the Heather storyline.

I think he does. Because that was part of the subtext I got from the scenes I watched where Portia was calling him out in. And for all her faults, Portia felt dead on to me. And I haven't cheered for her in a looong while.

I think they just don't seem to like Portia vs. the other (boring) characters, and consistently make her the heavy. Which is wild since she is easily the best actor in that little triangle by a hundred miles.

I think Brook Kerr is one of the show’s best actors, period. And, yes, she often outmatches her scene partners. I was half expecting for her to toss Kai out of her office like Uncle Phil used to do to Jazz on Fresh Prince of Bel Air.

And I’ll stick up for Portia’s misdeeds. The show is usually so tentative around its Black characters; it flattens them out with nobility. Portia, on the other hand, is as mercurial and messy as Carly, Alexis, or Nina.

She's also tough as nails and seems like the most capable person at GH next to Liz, when she's not being blackmailed or something. That's what caught my eye from the beginning: Her forcefulness. She's not a neutered character in the way, say, '90s Simone often was, or someone to be taken down a peg for being haughty, as Lainey Winters was treated in her terrible sexist pairing with Mfundo Morrison's Justus.

If it was me BK would be leading a lot more story there.

Fairman interviews Rory Gibson. He says he originally auditioned for Vaughn.  Rory has maintained his friendship with Joshua Morrow from Y&R and they socialize in person monthly along with Joshua's son Crew Morrow of B&B.

Rory gives a great interview about his approach to the character of Michael.  And working with Jane Elliot.

Perfectly stated.

Ever since Beyond the Gates began, what you said above has made its glaringly noticeable to me about GH's black characters.

It felt a bit eerie that Robert made a surprise return to GH today with the news about Tristan Rogers having cancer. I wish him the best.
