I love how much of a hothead Martin is.  He is the first one ready to crash out and tussle.

Martin and Bill are my favorite male characters and I love that they have a story together.

Tyler Perry didnt invent daydreaming on a soap lmao

Bill enjoys messing with Martin and his relationship. The way he smirks when Martin loses it, lol.

  • Karla Mosley (Dani) is on point with her acting choices today; you can tell she's reveling in the material she is given.

BAHAHA  I needed that laugh today.

Talk about one note.  I would put Derek and Ashley a notch above Dani.

Dani's scenes are basically rinse, lather, and repeat for 60 episodes and counting.  It's as if she was transported from the soap opera Passions onto this soap.  MVJ should put aside her friendship/admiration for Karla and look at the fact that this character isn't wroking as written.

I really hope after the secret comes out their interactions don't stop

Is MVJ being forced to write for these wack ass characters and actors? Literally nothing is working here and it’s been that way since the first episode.

I don't think she is. I think she just created some really boring characters and for some reason doesn't know what to do with them.  But let's say that she is being force to write these characters that she doesn't like or want to write for.......that's a really bad sign that the creator of the show is being told what to do from the very beginning.  With so many EPs, I was worried there could be too many cooks in the kitchen, too many people giving notes - all those EPs are representing companies who have a stake in the show.

Canada continues to be one episode ahead. Thursday's US episode is another lacklustre episode, even with Leslie in it.  We'll see if Friday or Monday's episode in Canada will be a repeat.

Dani going to Bill's house is karma for how he messes with Martin. It is totally separate, but I can't feel sorry for Bill when he's constantly antagonizing a family he says he wants nothing to do with.

lol he sounds like he's speaking as Randy

Hello everyone. I'm new to this forum but I have been a soap opera fan for only a few years. I started watching General Hospital in the 2010s on tv due to boredom. It wasn't good but it was okay enough to get curious about the soap opera genre. When I eventually got internet I started researching 90s and 2000s General Hospital. I have started only recently researching 80s and 90s Days of Our Lives. I was shocked when I found out that a black soap opera is going to be made, especially because the genre as a whole was on a downward trajectory. Now here I am as a black woman seeing a soap opera from the start. I'm all for Beyond the Gates succeeding.

Interesting.  Does CHCH have this as an arrangement?  Or is CBS unaware that that CHCH didn't preempt for Memorial Day, and is still ahead?

Oh wow. Well, welcome the the board, and so happy you're able to see this soap from its beginning.

Don't know if CBS is aware of it or not but I'm positive Canada won't be one-day-ahead forever.  CBS/CHCH will probably in sync tomorrow, Friday or Monday. That's just my guess.

this has been clear from the very beginning.

and, boring as they are, it’s not just derek and ashley. fitting in so many characters and storylines means they are skipping over the emotional beats — chelsea’s coming out was far too fast, and why did they not show her telling her grandparents — so there’s A LOT of exposition.

given how long val jean and guza have written for soaps, this speeded up narrative and enormous cast have the suits’ fingerprints all over it.

whether it ultimately drives down ratings remains to be seen.

Yeah, not showing us Chelsea coming out to her grandparents was bad.  Hopefully things will get better in terms of structure and story telling.  We have to remember the show isn't even 6 months old yet.  There's still a lot to figure out.  They've made some changes to the writing staff, so maybe that will help?  I hope they figure out the editing issues and music issues as well.  We'll see.
