I'm about to watch Wednesday episode of this week.

Things that piqued my interest so far....

Doug of course. He is so yummy but Tate looked good too.

The new doctor and EJ, what are they up to?

Why was that mysterious photographer taking pictures of Doug and Holly?

Loving the new doctor, former Alan Michael on Guiding Light.

Co Sign!!!!

I have been watching the show regularly over the last few weeks and am pleasantly surprised by how much easier it is to watch each day. This definitely is confirmation for me that Paula and Jeanne wrote the stroke episodes, cause I felt the same way watching those. Could be more exciting for sure, but interactions now make more sense and everything seems to be a bit more character driven which is great. I will add though, there are still about 10 or so characters i'd love to see gone, and hope a few will exit in the future! Otherwise, happy with the changes so far.

Doug III’s first day of work. Hope he does a good job… or that Tate tries to sabotage him somehow

His scenes with Holly were nice though. They’re sweet together and I understand why some people think that they have more chemistry than Tate/Holly do. And I liked that Doug III opened up to her about his past. Maybe that could lead to something good happening in the future.

I also enjoyed Roman and Kate, and how they’re both being tied into EJ’s shooting. The mystery of it all is really compelling. I don’t think Roman is the shooter though either.

I didn’t have much sympathy for Kristen though. She has no one to blame for Rachel’s problems than herself. But at the same time, I’m really surprised that Days actually remembered the Alex/Kristen fling. I thought Ron had erased that from existence. I’m not shipping them at all, but I’m definitely shipping a permanent end to Brady/Kristen but after today, I’m not so sure about that either.

And, Johnny and Chanel were still great together

I think it's funny that Philip is walking around in today's episode thinking it is wrong that people are still mad at him for stealing half of Xander's inheritance.

While Alex struggles to finish reading a manuscript in under 118 hours, Philip was like, “hey, help me out with Xander, let's be cool, and forget that I basically blackmailed you and your girlfriend to lie that I was cucking you.”

This is truly a Monday miracle, because I enjoyed the Kristin and Brady scene.  It is completely un-Kristin-like to have any insight into her behavior, but I appreciated the attempt.   We're so far from Kristin-social-worker that we met back in the 90s, but it was a clever callback to show that she's still in there somewhere.  Kristin has become such a loon, it felt like she was being humanized.

Finally, I found solace in the fact that I've gone my entire life without having a job where my boss needs to tell me where they keep the gun, -- on the first day of training. (I guess Salem does have an unusually high murder rate for such a small population?)

A really good show to start the week.

Philip is really going to shoot himself in the foot, isn't he? He should just be grateful he still is co CEO on paper, but instead he is trying to insert himself into the Hospital takeover. I worry he is going to mess up the whole thing and Xander won't get it, and Bo won't get the cure. Eventually Xander will have to fire him. Alex and Brady were both great today shutting him down. Amused me that nobody has bothered to clue Brady in on the forged letter fiasco.

Kristen and Brady discussing their messed up child was very good. I liked that Kristen finally acknowledged her culpability in what Rachel has become. And her interactions with Alex were good too. Alex is strangly working for me these days. Apart from his obsession with Stephanie's soft core porn book of course.

I'm in love with Doug3 and Holly. That is all.

Glad that Johnny and Chanel have worked things out. They do communicate well. I think he will be the next arrest in the shooting though.

Kate and Roman's discussion would have been better if she had been honest about her recent involvement in corporate fraud, but glad he explained about the gun.

Why does Alex have a CEO plaque on his desk? That was SO last year

Was their living room set new? Poor Kate, is she going to live out her twilight years above a chowder factory?  Another prime example about soap-karmic justice.

And, how long has it been since we've seen the corridor with the other rooms/apartments above the pub?

Now that I'm thinking about it... Wouldn't it have made more sense for Kate and Roman to go anywhere else to discuss the gun?  Doug3 works (and lives) beside them.

I assume Holly is Nicole's kid, right?  If so, the casting on the actress was spot on since she totally had some of Nicole's mannerisms/aura.

Kristen is being shown as human again.. which we haven't seen from the character since Eileen's 1 year return back in the early 2010s.

Kate is now running the Brady Pub?

I've been eagerly awaiting Kate's first episode under the new writers, and I wasn't disappointed. I started reminiscing about all of Kate's misdeeds when she said how good of a liar she was and how she saw right through Roman's lying. I really buy this matured, but still wise Kate in 2025, and the fact that you know under the right circumstances, the more ruthless side is always there, under the surface. Hopefully, with Roman about to confess, we get the full truth about just what the hell happened with Johnny the night EJ was shot, then all the major suspects will be eliminated, just for the writers to throw in that wrench that's waiting for it's time to shine.

Everytime Brady thaws even a little bit towards Kristen I immediately get concerned. I was entertained by their fight, and it was smart to mention Kirsten having no friends, let alone positive female relationships except for Lani in regards to why Rachel is such a loser. As a viewer, do you think Stacy Haiduk as Kristen was at all thinking about her former friendships with Jennifer and Billie in that moment? I wonder if she's even aware that they were, or who Billie even is. Anyway, I do wish Kristen could have also thrown in Brady's face that he's literally the biggest slut in Salem. Rachel seeing and possibly hearing about him going from woman to woman would also negatively affect Rachel's negative ideals about women, and possibly her own self-hatred.

I thought Doug's favourite class being English lit was a good through line from how impressed he was with grandpa Doug's poetry book to Julie. Hearing he dropped out because no one at home cared just made me yearn for more information about Charles LeClair as a father and person. Maybe it was this time that Robert LeClair was dying so Charles was distracted and it all fell apart after that?

Alex with Kristen today is the most interesting I've seen him written. He was smarmy and cold and for a quick second looked like he was enjoying playing with Kristen clearly throwing herself at him, but when she dropped her facade he became merciful, but still unwilling to budge. He would have fit in well in the more complex 70s era as a cad with a heart underneath his bravado. However, and I can't stress this enough, I absolutely despise whenever he calls Philip, 'Phil.' It just itches my brain in all the wrong ways.

    • I really hope the next steps with the show are building up/out family or story for both Mona and Shanice. Mona has always struck me as prime real estate for a proper family setup.
    • Mona's scenes with Leslie were golden! As well as with Eva.

    • I can't speak for all of Ryan's Hope, but I tried to watch it recently, and I found it difficult to get into. The overacting from some of the supporting/bit players was just too much. The show is not as fresh and vibrant as Edge of Night. I have Lisanti's book and wanted to watch some of the show before reading it, but the show is dated compared to other shows (Doctors and EON for ex.) that I found much more watchable and fresh. Perhaps, RH was more of its time than the other two. I don't know why I find RH so hard to watch.
    • From that time period, the one thing that was played for laughs, that stands out to me the most, was Cecile and Kathleen's pie fight, while that French can-can music played.
    • IKR! Tanya Turner, at one point, was EVERYTHING.
    • I can see both sides here. I don't believe that everything in that period was intended as comedy, but I think John Considine played the part in a very mustache-twirling way, as did Marcus Smythe as Peter until near the end, and that did come across as the material not being taken seriously. And I think the same is true of some of the treatment of other stories. The Sin Stalker, for instance, has that incredibly batshit material with Crystal Gayle being attacked. It's pure WTF, and something that, if done in more recent decades, would probably end up having the part played by a Drag Race queen or a Real Housewife.  The main takeaway I have from that period is how little those running the show cared. There's just a callousness. And that leads to a real cynicism onscreen.
    • I think too many of Mary's storylines were absolutely depressing. A lot of that  though was mitigated by her relationship with Scott, Cheryl, Ada and other characters though. I'm one of the few who preferred Mary with Reginald and wish that they had made Reginald less of a villain and made the Reginald/Mary/Vince triangle more of a battle and less a foregone conclusion. Mary choosing Reginald had much more storyline possibilities. What if what if what if...
    • Thank you for the info about SFT related to EON. I thought about adding SFT to my watch list, but I don't know if it's the kind of soap for me. I know very little about it except for a few of the actors and that it was on two different networks. I also know based on this board or somewhere else that the two Lizas both died young from cancer. Warms my heart to see so many EON people on SFT because they are such good performers and I wish they had been moved to other shows. Perhaps, they were and I'm just not aware of it.
