They need to hurry up and reveal why Joey needs Doug so bad. This story is falling flat without us having a motive to justify his investment.

True, but people will complain if they don't see them in their offices enough.  I'm just not that excited by the modeling storyline; I was hoping for something that could make the show stand out from the other CBS soaps.

Tues. April 29, Wed. April 30, Tues. May 6, and Wed. May 7:
UEFA European Soccer Champions League
Semifinals will be broadcast live in the European evenings,
which is 3pm Eastern USA, plus a 2pm Eastern prematch show.
Total timeframe three hours 2-5pm Eastern on those four dates.
This preempts BTG in all timezones,
and will partially preempt Y&R and/or B&B in Mountain/Pacific/Alaska/Hawaii timezones.

https://www.cbssports.com/soccer/champions-league/schedule/20250430/

https://www.espn.com/soccer/schedule/_/date/20250429/league/uefa.champions

Pre-match analysis show 2:00-3:00 PM EDT
(in TV Listings as "UEFA Champions League Today")

Soccer match 3:00-5:00 PM EDT

Total of three hours of live programming
for pre-match and match

(2pm-5pm Eastern Daylight Time)
(1pm-4pm Central Daylight Time)
(Noon-3pm Mountain Daylight Time)
(11am-2pm Arizona Standard Time)
(11am-2pm Pacific Daylight Time)
(10am-1pm Alaska Daylight Time)
(8am-11am Hawaii Standard Time)

NOTE:  in 2022, 2023, and 2024, this happened:
Y&R and B&B were broadcast in fullness but only in Eastern and Central timezones -- and they were partially preempted in western timezones.  Thus it was considered to be an official airing and not a full preemption.  Individual CBS stations in western timezones provided alternate times of day night for broadcast of the CBS soaps, or airings on sister channels in nearby regions.  Anyone unable to watch at alternate time/station could watch B&B and Y&R on cbs.com and ParamountPlus.  Otherwise you'd miss the episodes.

In 2025, it's different because of BTG.  BTG will be preempted in all timezones.  Will the show "still go on" but only virtually via cbs.com and paramountplus -- or will it be a full official preemption?
Unknown at this time.

How would this affect Y&R and B&B? Will they still air in Eastern & Central timezones as in prior years? Apparently from TV Listings it will be same as prior years.  But I am uncertain.

date: Friday, April 18 | Ron Carlivati, Cheryl L. Davis | Phideaux Xavier

  • Well, here we go: the friendship between Nicole and Vanessa is fully being established at this point.
  • If I walked into a home and heard Tamara Tunie both singing and playing piano, I would be timelessly entranced.
  • Oh my, are we finally leveling Shanice out?! It's about damn time. But Douglas is betting on the job? Sir, fix yourself.
  • Joey means business. I kind of like it.
  • "Children fib. Men lie," ⏤ Nicole Dupree Richardson (April 18, 2025). No truer words spoken, Nicole! Cheryl L. Davis nailed that line of dialogue.
  • Loving Pamela's loose wave and the green; plus, a modeling agency? Oh, that's a great idea. Pamela and Dani could be worthwhile businesswomen.
  • Nicole is straight-out calling Vanessa out for having a crush on Joey Armstrong; she's intuitive. And she should be.
  • Joey has Randy by the balls, doesn't he? Scary, intimidating and a man of his own word.
  • I love the use of Tunie's own performance for the use of the Articulettes. You can sense she desires the return to the spotlight and to her former life. This feels like the connection between Anita and Dani.
  • I can guarantee this modeling agency will open, and they will use Cady McClain's recurring status as the reason why she's often not around: she's out scouting for models and working on managing the gigs they're booking.
  • Dani and Naomi practising to surprise Anita is super cute; here comes our performance at Uptown! This is what I was asking for!
  • Uh-oh, Douglas lost a patient. That's going to cause him to go running to Joey and Randy, isn't it?
  • Nicole is seemingly not passing judgment on Vanessa for seeking outside of her marriage; will those same views remain when she finds out that Teddy cheated on her?
  • Well, here comes Joey through the veil of green hospital curtains.

I completely agree; as natural as Dani and Vanessa felt in the first week of episodes, Nicole and Vanessa feel just as natural. I am liking their friendship; I just hope Vanessa's connection to Dani doesn't just vanish.

Either Wednesday or yesterday I had, for the first time, a mid-show break voiced by Clifton Davis saying, "Beyond the Gates will continue." Anybody else?

Eva and Bill are my top characters for this show. Without them this show wouldn't have a pulse.

As much as my eyes glazed over every time those three paralegals were on-screen, those Naomi/Bill scenes were engrossing to me. I also hate every time they pronounce that one woman's name has Stef-an-knee-a. That is no one's name. Stef-ahn-ya is how it should be pronounced. Rage-bait!

I still find most of the material with Martin/Smitty absolutely boring as hell most of the time, especially seeing them as parents. Martin's best scene so far was when he was an [!@#$%^&*] to Anita and Vernon. That made him a bit messy and more interesting.

I find myself indifferent to too much of the show. Little things here and there pique my interest. I struggle with the character of Vanessa, too. I thought she would be more bad ass, but the actress comes off more mousy then I'd like. I anxiously await Joey making his first big villainous move. I want him to do something awful and exciting like kill Doug and frame Randy for it. He preys on Vanessa and marries her, and she finds out after the fact and feels trapped.

Episodes not ending dramatically really does the show a huge disservice. Whatever happened to wanting to make people "tune in tomorrow." They're dropping the ball there, hardcore.

I also don't understand the Pamela character at all. Vanessa should have just been friends to both Dani and Nicole. I don't understand why Pamela is even friends with Dani. Dani treats her like a henchwoman more than anything resembling a friend.

Finally made it home!!!

And episode is off to a good start. I love that we are seeing the friend combos this episode with Dani/Pamela and Nicole/Vanessa. Though I hope that doesn't mean we won't get anymore Dani/Vanessa scenes. And HELL YES to Dani starting a modeling agency like we all have been discussing. Perfect fit. Surpised by Kat (love what she has on)'s idea for Dani, too.

I like seeing Nosy Nurse, Ashley, and Doug joking around. It was giving shades of Grey's Anatomy.

Joey...what is your endgame...?

    • Hm. I just realized that Dani/Andre feel like the main B plot this week. And I'm not at all complaining about that. I just figured it would be Doug/Joey/Vanessa storyline, but there is one last week in this month so perhaps that is just going to be a C plot until next week.
    • Thanks for starting this thread!  I was hoping others were listening and would want to chat about it. I'm really enjoying Montecito!  The production and audio values are top notch. The storylines are interesting and keep me wanting more.  There is corporation succession, cheating, alcoholism, bisexual relationships, divorced parents, brother/sister drama, scorned mother, father/son relationship issues, etc. At first I couldn't stand Mena's (sp?) voice, but I've grown to enjoy her and I love to hate her as a villain. I keep hearing Smitty (BTG) in Mike Manning's voice, so it keeps throwing me haha. The only thing going against it is one episode per week, at only 18 minutes long, so we need more content. Anyone else listening and enjoying it?
    • This, plus they nixed their overnight set crew during the COVID era and never brought them back.

    • I did some research because I had a similar question. (also, I don't want to poop on your joke which was amusing, but it sent me down a rabbit hole) A Reddit user who works at TeleVision City (where Y&R is filmed) estimated it takes 45 minutes to set up or reconstruct an already built set.  However, according to union rules, it takes at least seven crew members (not counting lighting and sound installation).  As always, the real cost is the labor, not the task.   Y&R uses robotic cameras, so there is only a skeleton crew on set.  Most of their crew budget goes to production assistants, who cannot move sets.  So, they would need to hire a crew every time they wanted to put up or take down a set (for two days) as well as a lighting and sound design installation.  Which is obviously very different from how production worked when money was more freely spent (and good for the unions for keeping the workplace safe). So, filming a single day in Lauren and Michael's living room could cost as much as they spend on two actors salaries for an entire year.
    • I knew Giovanni Mazza was talented but damn that kid is a star in the making.
    • The Nurses' Ball has always been cringey, fast forward material for me, but especially during the Frank era. The musical numbers and audience reactions are unwatchable.  So many of the conflicts on this show feel phony and manufactured. Probably no better instance is the Gio - Dante crap. Gio's whole story is inorganic, plot driven, no stakes, fake conflict; giving people lame drama just to give them drama, a prime example of GH under Frank.
    • What is the reason why soaps can’t use whatever sets they want? How exactly does it cost money..? I’m sure they still have Michael and Lauren’s house, why can’t they just put it up and shoot it when needed lol
    • I'm binging last week and I still find it so odd how different the show feels. Before I felt like each episode felt so long but the show is gliding by now. I'm on Thursday and it's crazy how real the characters feel. It doesn't feel like Days of Our Lives because I'm so used to everything being slapstick. It's definitely nice seeing layers to the characters now. I'm beginning to feel really confident about the coming months when the new headwriters can introduce their own stories.
