DAYS/Y&R: Casting Shocker!!

He is an attractive, good actor that is capable of being in lead stories. I have been impressed with him for a long time. One of the few men his age at this point in daytime that could play a decent guy and still hold my interest. He would have been a real get for them if he had been a recast Michael on GH. I think this is a big loss for DAYS.

I would say that's not a bad idea, but I think Kristina is just beyond repair and needs to go for a few years.

Yikes. The show already looks like Budget Cuts Central, and I can't imagine it getting any worse. DAYS is almost always in Peacock's Top 10 streaming shows for the day. If that's not enough to save it, I don't know what to say.

Honestly, I'd rather see it leave the air than to get any worse.

Peacock itself is a site that is straining to survive, so I'm not sure how much that matters.

I do hope DAYS can survive. It has survived so many death sentences. 

If they need budget cuts, I could give them about 5-10 names right off the bat. 

I also wouldn't be surprised if Steve and Kayla go again, as they always seem to do when the budget craters.

Billy Flynn is really good, and this is a major coup for Y&R -- as well as a big loss for DAYS. I'll miss his scenes with Susan Seaforth Hayes.

Billy on BTG as Derek (as some have suggested)? No. The character is minor, and I can't see Flynn taking that role.

I'm excited for Billy to join Y&R. I think he's very talented and would be more interesting to watch than others on that show for sure. I think he'd be too old to play Noah. What about Dylan? Nikki should have her son back and maybe have him be a rival for Adam. I think he and Courtney Hope could be a fun pairing. 

As far as Y&R and interesting new characters...I have enjoyed Holden and Damian so far. I'm more interested in watching them than more Sally/Billy, Chelsea/Adam, Jack and Diane talking about interior decorating, or Harrison's school projects!

It was unusual timing but for the last 3 years one of the best things of Y&R has been the trifecta of Susan Walters, Zulekya Silver and Alison Lanier carrying the show on their backs no matter what’s been thrown at them. 
 

And yeah Griffith’s 2nd run in 2012-13 was such a breath of fresh air coming off of what we experienced with MAB/Sheffer/Hamner etc. I’m so disappointed that JG abruptly back tracked what he was doing and had some type of mental breakdown….obviously Summer was going to be Jack’s daughter and then the allegedly purported idea that Hilary was to be the lost daughter of Gus & Dru (I do strongly add the disclaimer because I remember reading it but the source material is lost/can’t be validated from when I tried to look it back up for a fellow poster a few years back…it may have been true or just fan-fiction in disguise for all I know)

 

Out of all the long running soaps (not counting something like Sunset Beach) that I’ve send ended, when GL ended as much as it pained me to see the end, it did feel like the natural end to a long running soap. I can imagine Days is in the same boat right now. Not the first time Days has been in serious trouble but with all the losses and passings of major vets the past year, all of the BTS drama, and a major egomaniac HW finally all the way out after doing a grave disservice to the show one may really have to wonder just how much sand is left in that hourglass.

I think Billy Flynn will just be another Trevor St. John situation for Griffith. Heck, by the time he finally airs on DAYS, Griffith will probably have gotten bored of him.

Him moving to Y&R so swiftly feels like Sony knew they couldn’t afford to keep him at DOOL but didn’t want to lose him to the other shows and plopped him over.

Knowing JG I’m sure there is no real longterm planning here so I wish BF luck. He would have made a good Michael or Dillon recast at GH or Thomas at Bold

The show has been slipping, though. It used to be as high as #2 or #3, or at least in the top 5. Now it hovers at #8. Some viewers have tuned out due to Ron's lousy writing.

 

I forget his character is a DiMera. He's my favorite DiMera. The other DiMeras have run their course and should be written out.

I know Corday has mismanaged the show several times. But the very long one two punch of AA and Ron Carlivati has been devastating.

Days just finished taping Xmas week through 12/30/2025 episode. My gut tells me this show will be cancelled by Peacock for Sept 2026 final episode.

Indeed. And as we recently mentioned he ax Daniel Goddard, eliminate the Rosales clan, and has at least written consistently decent stories for the Abbott clan. In other words JG’s 3rd run good stuff is probably equivalent to how many times a year a broken clock is right LOL. 

 

The one downside of BTG is seeing Calivati’s name in the writing credits right after openly mocking Days fans about the backlash to his Body & Soul story. Even if he’s just a sub or script writer for BTG I think he deserves the unemployment line.
