I don’t know their ultimate intentions going forward but to me it feels entirely too soon for Dani to be this unhinged.

I enjoyed Anita shaming her, could’ve used a touch of that while she was holding the gun (someone will come for me and say that that’s not how you want to approach a person holding a pistol however I think there could have been a way to finesse it).

Dani’s family letting her run off after she just held someone at gunpoint and then going back home is insane. Based on everyone’s reactions this is very atypical behavior for her so they should be a lil more active in their concern!

And all of their phones should’ve been blowing up. A million people were watching that live stream!

The baby elevator stuff was embarrassingly paint by the numbers, no clue what the purpose is of Ashley or Ashley/Andre but right how it’s the weakest part of the show. And don’t get me started on cutting back to Ashley’s undead boyfriend 3 times.

Broader thoughts about the show: The first episode was just bad. I’m sorry but I didn’t enjoy any of it. Heavy handed dialogue, some shaky camera work, not great editing. Luckily the rest of the week was a major improvement. But I was really hoping that that first episode would grab me.

Every man on this show has the same haircut. Martin, Andre and Jacob all went into the barber with a picture of each other for reference (they all kinda favor each other too). Only the wedding photographer got to have hair that wasn’t the Professional Black Man Waves 3000.

I think most of the actors, a number of whom I’m told are new to acting, are doing a fine job. I like the kids and Haley a lot. Naomi…beautiful woman, unimpressive acting.

But you know I bow down to your knowledge on all things Erica so I should just shut up if I'm offending her memory. :)

But, we know KaMo herself said she is drawing from Erica & Reva. I think some people have Dani wrong. I don't see psychosis. Def don't see mental institution. Her level of functioning is too high. If you are so protective of Erica, look at Barbara Broderick. In this country we have a long tradition of tolerating certain things from scorned & wronged women. Add in that soaps use "heightened reality" to express the drama & what you have in 2025 is our girl Dani.

KaMo

We can nickname/abbreviate actors however we want, there's no rule.

I just find KaMo confusing because of all the years of viewers online referring to Kelly Monaco as KeMo.   So every time you type "KaMo", I read it as "KeMo", then have to take a second to mentally process and realize you said "KaMo" and that you meant Karla.  It's not wrong or right, you can type whatever you like.
I just have to laugh at myself and my own confusion at reading that.

I think it's quicker to type "Karla", but that's just me.

Heifer? Jezebel?

Hahaha, love it!

Not to mention jive turkey! They are giving us the eight-point words, which sets is so far apart from the other soaps. I love it.

I'm really enjoying reading everyone's take on the show.  Varied perspectives, but there's *interest* ... actual interest in a soap!  The enthusiasm (and critique) are fun to read.

With all this discussion on characters and stories I have to remind myself that we are only one week in.

There many days/weeks/months ahead for things to develop. Relationships to be explored and characters to have scenes together. eg seeing Smitty at the Dupree house -how does he interact with the family etc?

If that twin thing was mentioned, that was poor planning. How much better for the story to gather momentum and then drop a mention that Ted is a twin.

Agree about the men's haircuts and Bill/Vanessa's house -way too generic and cheap looking.

And the baby in the elevator-not the best choice to interest in a character many are already bored with. Maybe if we had seen that woman before interacting with Ashley  and she was given some sort of backstory there might be more of a care factor.

Delivering a baby in the elevator is a way of getting Ashley to bond with Andre in some sort of way. Assuming that they do end up together at some point that might put her on a collision course with Dani if Dani eventually wants more with Andre. That would be down the road but the writing do far is hinting at Ashley possibly messing up her relationship with Derek for Andre.

I completely understand that that was the intention but the execution was so lacking. It’s not as if they had them bond in a unique or memorable way, they were both sort of just…there, with Ashley doing all the work and Andre just holding the woman’s hand.

It was all terribly flat, which holds true for most of the material when there isn’t more than one Dupree in the scene.

That's exactly what I was getting at. At least if Ashley had had a previous convo with the woman and we found out this was the first pregnancy she'd taken to term or something...

Unless Andre is a total p***y hound can't understand what he would see in a dowdy nurse. Sorry Jen/Ashley!

Are they really taping 6 eps aweek? Guess the plan is to take a break every few months to make the budget work and give everyone a much needed rest.

Wonder if Danni will be on every day this week?

Not a fan of Cady's look, what's with the braid?
