I remember back in the early days soaps used to give the reason for a recast as "to take the character in a new direction". I have a hunch that they want the character of Ted to give off the vibe of more meanness if not outright badness.

This is the BTG non-spoiler thread.

Can we please discuss the recast on one of the spoilers threads.
It's already being discussed on a thread of its own in the spoilers section.
and also on the March spoilers thread, and also on Errol's new thread.

I agree that a recast in itself is not a spoiler, as the character is remaining.
The discussions speculating about potential changes in character direction/writing could fall into spoilerish territory.  I just think it's less constraining to discuss it on a spoiler thread.

So do I.

Andre the hotness of the show (I know, he's too young for me to check for like that). Andre/Dani off the charts heat generating romantic chemistry. The love scenes set to R&B slow jams.

They are the soap couple I didn't know I needed.

Me, too. I wonder if there are a substantial number of us. Makes me also begin to think in the general direction of a portmanteau but thus far I am uninspired. The only thing with any panache at all is maybe Dandy from Dan+Andre but it may be too far to stretch it. But, there's no rush.

She's basically his aunt and were around when Nicole and Ted took him after his parents died. It's gross.

I want Nicole to tear into her when this gets out.

Karla Mosley in only about 7 years older than Sean Freeman, but the difference between them reads generational to me.

It's not a Mrs. Robinson situation, and I don't have a problem with May/December relationships on soaps, but this one feels off to me.

Just as I don't understand why we're supposed to see some possibility between Andre and Ashley, I don't understand the possibility of Andre and Dani, either.

You know how Andre had a heart-to-heart with Nicole about his romantic life? That's the same relationship I think he should have with Dani.

    • Yes, I am aware of the ballyhoo about Michigan. But, I still do not understand & I will  endeavor to explain why. Do some of us think it was a real place in Michigan, because not thing ever gave me such an idea. I thought we all knew it was a fictional location & I am positive that Irna meant it to be just that.
    • It has come up in this thread before that early on it was specified that Another World was set in Bay City, Michigan, but somewhere along the line the references shifted to Illinois-ish.    I have tried and failed to find any specific clear reference to Michigan, although there have been some circumstantial details that suggest Bay City is not in Illinois. i notice that the AW Bible begins by describing the location as simply "not far from Oakdale", but things do change (the bible calls Pat Cynthia) and we can't take that as pure canon.
    • At this point (and I've changed my tune several times), I'd fully rest the Cassadine family at this point.

    • The loooong pan around the room that ends in actual action with Maria and Edmund vs. just silently surveying the damage is very technically impressive. I don't think I've ever seen more than bits and pieces of this; my viewing was very spotty early on in '93/'94. I mostly remember the aftermath.
    • Disgusting how Gilly was written out. I'm glad I was not watching that travesty. Petronia Paley deserved better as well.   Interesting to me how so many viewers wanted Annie to succeed--the same way they were so invested in Marian/Brett.

Oh how I wish Angela Lansbury would have called out Les Moonves and put him on blast.
    • The first time I cried from a soap, Zane's death. I cried for 3 days.
    • Very happy to see GH hit #1 on Hulu! The show's been on fire and deserves the added eyeballs.
    • I really appreciated all the movement in today's episode.  It resonated with me that it felt like the sort of nervous energy that can surround a family after death. I want to point out the EJ scene.  I was riveted by his multi-layered performance. When he told Belle that he went to her because he loved her, and then saw that she was embarrassed by him, and rejected the part of her that was attracted to him.  It started to make even more sense why he would try to protect Johnny (who I still don't think shot him).  EJ feels like a pariah (although TBH, it wouldn't have hurt to bring Marlena some of that tea that everyone had been promising her all morning).  And he doesn't want to pass that along to his son by exposing him as the shooter.  It is interesting that we see none of those same concern between Kristen and lil'Rachel.
