Pulling recasts already is not a good look nor a good sign. Speaking of which, oh they definitely read these boards. This is the very guy that I had a photo of on here a good while back proposing him to play a Dupree son.......but instead. Smh.

I saved this weeks episode and watched Monday and Tuesday last night with my mom and sister. For a mellow week, it was the perfect week to draw them in. They were completely confused about Dani and why she broke into Bill and Haley's house. Once I explained it to them they immediately went back to watch from the beginning. Her affair with Andre also helped seal the deal.

I just finished Wednesday's episode by myself and all in all I found it to be another strong week. I'm devasted by the fact that we only got 3 episodes but I'm enjoying the more calm pace the show has picked up. It doesn't feel slow but more relaxed to let you get a better feel for the characters. I find myself becoming invested in more characters as the weeks go by. 

Of course Eva/Kat is a rivalry that they could play for years and both actors are breakout stars. I'm fully invested in Martin and Smitty's household and the secrets both Martin and Tyrell hold. The scenes between Andre and Nicole this week went a long way to deepening his character beyond just his playboy ways. That actor is a great find for them. 

For their first full month they've done a good job of holding my interest the entire month. I can't recall the last time an American soap had me in a chokehold like this.

To say nothing of the soaps that dumped actors before they could even air onscreen. And then there's the Irna Phillips era where the actor would appear, Irna would watch the show live and then call in and have them fired the same day.

There's almost certainly gonna be a lot more cuts or recasts to come, that's the nature of any new soap. While I'll miss MJ the replacement seems like a good actor, and several other cast changes can't come soon enough for me.

      I really appreciated all the movement in today's episode.  It resonated with me that it felt like the sort of nervous energy that can surround a family after death. I want to point out the EJ scene.  I was riveted by his multi-layered performance. When he told Belle that he went to her because he loved her, and then saw that she was embarrassed by him, and rejected the part of her that was attracted to him.  It started to make even more sense why he would try to protect Johnny (who I still don't think shot him).  EJ feels like a pariah (although TBH, it wouldn't have hurt to bring Marlena some of that tea that everyone had been promising her all morning).  And he doesn't want to pass that along to his son by exposing him as the shooter.  It is interesting that we see none of those same concern between Kristen and lil'Rachel.

      -- What a stupid party. Devon and Abby leave while Victor goes upstairs to the GCAC bar and talks with Kyle. Then we see Jack giving Nikki ANOTHER birthday toast as if the party has just begun. Huh??? -- This party perfectly encapsulates sweeps month for this show: lame, deadly, boring af. -- Once again, Cole gets really sick and no one insists on an ambulance or the ER. They really want him dead, don't they? Instead we hear multiple characters say "Gee, I hope Victoria doesn't catch it." Cole will be dead before Dumas. -- Kyle is really offering to make a contract with Victor so he can continue to see Claire? Jesus Wept. -- And then the shoe ends with Victor praising Nikki for softening his heart over the years -- after we've seen him treat Kyle, Michael, and Jack like sh_it for days.

      I do think Zane could have been a decent long-term addition if they hadn't disposed of him - up to Lucas' arrival, at least.

      I would consider recasting Nikolas again just for the sake of those around him, but you may be right.
