The actor who plays Bill is great! Bill's got charisma, looks, money, I can see why women would fall all over themselves to sleep with him

I wouldt recast anyone but honestly if a VO said the role of Derek Baldwin is now played by Evan Hoffer I wouldn't be upset

I'm glad you're watching.

I agree with you about Tamara, Daphnne, and Karla.

I'm still waiting for more episodes before I call the Bill casting a failure. The writing for him could be better. Right now, he's coming across as sympathetic.

I was just going to watch the first eppy and then decide, but I hit the record series on the DVR and then decided to binge them.

the one moment that Karla sold was when she was reflecting on her marriage with Tamara. The more over-the-top stuff felt forced.

The dialogue is the other thing that feels very stilted. It's been a lot of exposition, which is probably a PITA to write, and hopefully it will loosen up a bit as the scriptwriters get a feel for the characters.

The other actress I liked was Nicole's older assistant (?) but the moment she burst out with that glowing description of Nicole's life, I knew that was probably going to be the second thing blown up. lol

I think either Anita or Vernon have another child, maybe a son

It surprised me that they don't have a son TBH.

Clifton Davis is great too

He hasn't done daytime since 1971

A World Apart

I don't think I've seen him since Amen. 1971? The changes must have shocked him.

Another fabulous episode. Loved all the focus on Dani and her girls!

I am all game for Dani to have a little fun to help her get over Bill. While I don't find Andre all that attractive. He's okay.

Naomi had a great episode. She might be a smart heroine. I am still waiting on that one-on-one with Hayley, and to learn about their history.

Chelsea leaving with the guy from the bar. Hmmm.

Wildly excited to learn more about Jacob and his family. I come from a similar family only I didn't follow it LOL.

Kat is giving me Blair Waldorf.

This is like the strongest 1st week EVER of any show I've watched. I'm like wowed.

Yeah, I was saying that to myself while watching. It is usually a chore for me to get into soaps at the beginning.

Bill has such a strong presence. And charisma... Woof.

Agreed. I really like him.

I do not dislike any of the actors.  Some are very green but I am willing to give them 3 - 6 months to develop.  I am enjoying the show so much I am able to focus on what is working and not get distracted by minor issues.

I sorta agree. Waiting it out to notice each of the actor's strengths and hopefully the writer's focus on that too.

haven’t watched soaps for over 10 years, so i don’t know if this is the new standard. but, not loving these 5-minute scenes followed by 3-5 minutes of commercials and promos.

Same. I tune in for an actor I like and drop it within a month or two.

That's exactly who Martin should have been. It just makes more sense to me.

Maurice Kerry (Randy Parker) nicely commented on my latest insta post when I followed him from my alt-page. Thought that was cool of him.

I don't have a problem with Ashley and Ben like you all do. I did think the actress playing her mom was a wash though. I do sadly agree about some of the critiques about Brandon Claybon, but in his favour is how much he seems to resemble Clifton Davis. I hope with time his fine ass (both literally and figuratively) can find a more natural state.

I need to know how long Andre and Dani have been in each other's lives, because if I was the family, I'd be grossed out if I learned of their hook up.

I'm very intrigued by all the bubbling plot threads slowly beginning to sprout, hanging on to every word to see if something will blossom from it. I also will be interested to see how the in-laws are within the DuPree family and with each other. There are so many future interactions to look forward towards.

Finally got to See Episode 003 from 2/26:

Those confronational Scenes of Dani and Bill were so amazing and so well directed! I really believe that Bill loves Hayley.

But what really takes me out is Karla Mosley. She ain’t a bad actress but she is so hit or miss. Those scenes with Bill and getting into a heating argument and telling him how she feels about all of this Situation was perfectly done. But few seconds later her fake crying really takes me out and ruins it a bit. She really has to work on that tbh. No offense coz I do enjoy Most of her work so far.

The siblings Chelsea and Naomi had some great scenes. Naomi is growing on me.

Who also is growing on me is André

That Dupree Family Secret really gets me going and I’m so excited to See what This is all about.

I don’t really like the way Martin treats Smitty tbh. But I probably will get behind his reasons when I will know what the secret is.

AND what was up with that Cliffhanger ? That was random lol

Does anyone know why BTG has so many executive producers?  I noticed the list in today's opening scene -- wow!  I didn't count them, but there must be at least six EP's.  I don't recall a soap opera that ever had more than two, and nearly all soaps have had only one EP (one at a time, I mean).  What is the purpose of having so many people with the same title?  It certainly must be hard to make a decision, if all those people are expected to agree on things.

Is it possible that only one person is the "real" executive producer, and all the others are just figure heads with little to no influence?  I realize MVJ is referred to as the show-runner.  But in the credits, she is just listed along with all the other EPs. Having this many EPs is a real change for the genre, so there must be a reason for it.

I suspect CBS, P&G and NAACP all have their own representative Executive Producer.  I may be wrong.  Also, I would not be surprised if Julie Hanna Caruthers and Bob Guza are onboard to get the show up and running and to train a new generation of Atlanta based writers and procedures.  At some point I could see them handing the reins over and leaving.

All of the entities have representation -  CBS, P&G, and the NAACP. Because it’s a joint venture with all those properties, they each have executives with EP credits.

Sheila Ducksworth is in charge of the CBS/NAACP joint venture, so that’s her EP credit. Michele and Guza seem to have it written into their contracts, so they’re more on the creative side. Michele’s naturally makes sense since she’s the creator of the show and the HW. Julie Hanan Carruthers gets an EP credit because she’s the main producer in charge of the actual day to day production.

It’s not a typical model, but I think because so many parties came together to produce this show, the credits are atypical.

I could only watch part of today live so Imma save the rest for later on. Good start in the first 20 though.

I noticed how many way back & remarked on it then. It's clear to me what 3 of them do: MVJ, Sheila Ducksworth & Julie Hanan Carruthers but how would we know about the others? I imagine part of the reason is 3 gigantic production entities: CBS, NAACP and P&G Studios.

And Kudos to MVJ and her entire team because the female voice is loud and clear in the show. From the woman speaking about not being weak, that conversation with Naomi and Bill, to the way the love scene was filmed. The ladies are running the show right now.
