Well, maybe if somebody (I won’t say who) hadn’t completely rewritten the story, ALM would have been used more effectively

That all sounds pretty good

It could be a great, messy umbrella storyline that could play out for so long.

I sort of got the impression that they were hinting that something may happen between Xander and Stephanie, back when she was doing PR for Philip and when her and Sarah were suddenly such good friends. But now that’s she back with Alex, who knows? I’m worried that pairing is gonna ruin her even more.

I’d be down for a Philip/Sarah affair too.

But Alex definitely needs to be brought back into the Kiriakis family storylines. My hatred of B&S aside, it was a huge mistake to completely remove him from everything after he found out he wasn’t Victor’s son.

I accuse him

First, they de-SORAS you; then, they reveal you're Stefano DiMera's illegitimate child.  Like sands through the hourglass, folks!

This Fake Rafe/EJ’s revenge stuff is so clunky. And messy, but not in a good way. The only bright spot of all this is EJ and Belle’s relationship and the effect that this could have on it and everybody around them. I don’t think it makes all of this worth it though lol but I’m looking forward to seeing what’s going to happen for them.

Btw, am I the only one who thought that Belle was a bit of a dick today?

As for the Brady/Kristen/Ava/Aremid thing, I guess the cliffhanger was good but I’m just tired of this storyline and the historical rewrites, in general. Plus, it feels weird to have them delve into Kristen’s past and not have Eileen Davidson be playing her.

Kristen needs a reset, or just write her and her awful kid out. Now, is definitely a good time to do so, especially if they’re not gonna do anything different with her character. I also think now would be a good time to bring Tripp back too

Rafe and EJ sharing the same piece of bacon was disturbing. Also, and I realize this is extremely petty of me, but Kristen never having her nails done always bothers me. Though I would argue, small touches like that constantly being missed are a reasonable problem all their own.

I hate that the old white bitch is seemingly the real Rachel Blake.

EJ is a great bastard though and I genuinely love to hate him.

For whatever reason, I am more tolerant of the Aremid tale, because it feels like classic DAYS.  A mixture of fantasy and romance.  When I'm willing to ignore the fantastical plot holes, because the romance of Ava and Brady is at the center of the story (even though, they hardly progressed as a couple before facing immediate hardship).

Once again, does EJ know his son is in the hospital?  When Belle told Jada she was visiting Johnny, why doesn't she tell her that he's in the ER with Chanel?  I mean, Sami should be more angry about EJ ignoring their son that she should be about two adults being in an intimate relationship, years after she's left town.

And finally, why is Arnold Paulina's only choice for commissioner?  What about Shawn-D?  And why didn't we get any scenes of Shawn interrogating Jada?

UPDATE: I just got a chill thinking of this possibility

-- speculation only --
unproven random speculation that PERHAPS the show had intended to write a Chloe return for Brady, with a Broe romance.  And also Chloe returning with her little sister Joy.  But for whatever reason, PERHAPS they wanted Nadia and Nadia wasn't available? So then they had to reassign Nadia's stuff to whomever.  Chloe's romance was rewritten for Ava, and Chloe mentoring her little sister Joy was also rewritten. Just guessing.
/end speculation.

The evidence should also include the total lack of dialogue about Ava and Kristen's past together.  One would think that if this was a story meant for Ava, they would remind viewers of their past animosity.

Wow! I didn't watch all week. Hopefully next week will be better. I doubt it.

The show is back to #9 after starting at #7 for the wedding.

Thank goodness I only pay $1.99 for peacock. $7.99 a month isn't worth it.

    • For any other soap, I think I’d agree, but GH, I don’t know

    • Agreed, that there was some strange choices in the episode, especially at the end, but overall, that was some great drama that opens up the potential for so much future storyline. Kat vs. Eva having the most potential, especially over Tomas. I have mixed feelings about Martin/BC though. I thought he did pretty well in scenes with Smitty/MM, but the scenes of him confronting Leslie and of him throwing the books were bad lol she acted circles around him.  It’s similar to what Harding Lemay said about George Reinholt at AW; he could be brilliant in one scene, but then mediocre in the next.
    • I know some of y'all really like Brooke Kerr, and so I've tried to give her a shot, despite her frequent flat line readings and distracted "did I leave the front door unlocked?" facial expressions. But lord, she is so bad at playing a tough-talking badass that I was actually rooting for Brad today to spill the beans to Drew.
    • Googling does tend to ruin it.  For those of us who were teens in the late 1970s and early 1980s, you can't imagine how much fun it was to watch the show in the afternoons.  (It came on right after school.)  There weren't any "spoilers" at the time.  We would always try to anticipate how each crime and each mystery would be resolved, and we were ALWAYS wrong, because the stories are filled with so many weird twists and turns.   The head writer (Henry Slesar) and his dialogue writer (Steve Lehrman) invariably toss genuine clues directly into your face in the most unlikely ways, but then they provide a host of "red herrings" to completely confuse you and send you off on the wrong path.  Once the story reaches its conclusion, all you can think is Why didn't I figure that out weeks ago?  lol
    • Does the vault have the original scene and not the short flashback?
    • I appreciate that you are using AI with the knowledge of it's limitations. Some posters take everything it produces as fact.
    • And of course Mama Ru herself appeared on All My Children.
    • The Saturday 8pm slot usually had the lowest rating of the NBC 4 sitcom lineup for some reason. NBC let Saturday night fizzle, They used 9.30 pm to launch 227 and Amen, both of which moved to earlier in the evening but they  kept Empty Nest following GG for several seasons.  Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm with their strongest new sitcom at 9.30, anticipating that GG would eventually falter. Instead they left them there and stretching the sitcom pool too thinly on other nights. When Grand talk over at 9.30 Thurs maybe Night Court and Wings could have been used on Saturday.
    • @Maxim Great to see your mini-reviews again. There are a number of clips on Youtube of Janice's slow mental breakdown, especially as we go into January 1980. Christine Jones is just superb. She played the hell out of that role. Something which isn't referenced as much later on is how Mitch pushed Janice's doubts and mental instability for his own ends...until suddenly he didn't want to anymore (I guess he caught on with the audience and the show became wary). I don't want to post a bunch of clips, but this one has a very good confrontation between Rachel and Janice.

This has a good scene around 7 minutes in where you can see Janice struggling internally with her need to identify herself so much by the men around her, all of which helps lead to her crackup.
