You could point out the bright spot of me being mentioned though!

Hadn't known that was going to happen, so I was caught off guard when Whitley started mentioning Jason32 posting zoomed-in call sheets. That was a nice unexpected shoutout. Wish they had used Jason47 itself, but Jason32 will have to do!

If people are skipping watching today'e episode, hope you will at least watch my shout out scene at the 21:02 time mark!

That was truly bizarre.  It was as if someone in production said, “you've got three minutes to conclude the B&S storyline, and then we're moving onward.”  Why was the entire plot sewn up in a day?  And, why has the loss of one day of filming doomed the entire production?  Don't get me wrong, I want it to end, but this is too silly.

Tonally it makes no sense that last week Marlena and Julie were crediting therapy as an essential force in mental health.  And, this week a psychotic patient is treated as a joke in a sanitarium where they are testing toxic drugs?

Also, why is EJ never around when Johnny is in a crisis?  He's right upstairs bonking Belle, wouldn't Chanel go looking for him?  And has Chanel forgotten her anger at EJ trying to pay off Joy?

Sorry about that.

I was so annoyed with today, it must've just gone right over my head

Another thing that I hated.

The climax of that Lady Whistleblower garbage was dragged out for a week, but the story arc of multiple characters supposedly being near death was over and done with in one episode.

Ridiculous.

From the very beginning, today was a vast improvement over that pathetic excuse for an episode that we got yesterday. The script and breakdown were clearly in the hands of an actual writer.

There’s still some work to do lol but overall, I enjoyed today.

Despite there still being some Body&Soul, it was at a minimum and it was sidelined by actual storylines that could be really good if they’re written correctly, particularly this Xander/Sarah/Philip/Stephanie/Alex/Joy situation. And although I have mixed feelings about another possible Kiriakis/Dimera war, I would kinda like to see how it would play out, and how characters like Alex, who’s still being written incorrectly, would be handled under the new head writers. The character would work much better as a villain, not this hero/good guy/romantic lead that they keep trying to make him. He did look hot though. And Philip looked hot too… until he made another stupid face

And agreed, with whoever said that this all hopefully leads to Joy becoming a villain/vixen. It’s definitely something that the character needs, especially with the way that today ended.

The Cat/Felicity scenes were nice too. And we got an update about Mark. As for Cat/Chad, the way their storyline began was a big mistake but just like with the Kiriakises, I would kinda like to see what would happen for them under the new writers.

And again, Chad/Julie

They work so well together, like Bo and Alice just without all the adventure lol I really hope SSH submits some of these scenes for an Emmy.

Anything is better than having her just become Alex’s little woman, like Ciara became Ben’s.

It is so odd how they've underused their stunt casting 90210 “star”.  Even when she was the center of a plot, there was much more focus on Chad, JJ, and the others.  We've had less than five scenes with her family.  Her history in Salem is still unexplored.  And, her prior drug addiction seems swept under the rug.  So, we know less about Cat now that she's been revealed.

Her year contract is more than halfway through, and it feels like most of the time has been spent having people react to her, rather than her enacting any plot.

Wasn't she on her way to rehab with her parents when they got into the car accident?

Correction (another misremembered moment) - from her wiki

Cat was involved in an accident with their father and mother Catherina. Cat was badly hurt and barely survived. She was sent to a rehab clinic where she had extensive plastic surgery. At some point, she and Mark were contacted by Clyde Weston, who was holding their mother captive after they believed she had died in the crash alongside their father. Clyde forced both Cat and Mark to do his bidding threatening to kill Catherina if they didn't.

One piece of advice for Julie as a person who has had many family members die at home.  You have to buy a new mattress.  It's one thing to sleep in the same bed, but at least you can refresh the mattress that Doug, Tom, and Alice all died in.

I thought James Reynolds was clearly trying his best to ground the inane Whitley King scenes. That's about the only positive I can come up with for Wednesday's episode.

Thursday's was back to actually being entertaining. I've had my issues with Linsey Godfrey before, but I can admit she is a good actress when need be, unlike generic Abigail Klein, who is the white bread of all white bread actors. Of all the characters on the show, she needs to be recast the most. @AbcNbc247 you're right that Xander/Sarah/Philip/Stephanie/Alex/Joy could be really good though. I could even see a Philip/Sarah affair happen at some point. Xander goes too far with the DiMera takeover, Philip's mental health starts to decline again, and Sarah being a doctor would find herself being sympathetic to him... Meanwhile, I would love if somehow Joy starts to play with Alex and Stephanie and when Alex finds out Stephanie knows about the letter, Joy uses the betrayal to seduce him, only to turn around and humiliate both him and Stephanie for revenge. Stephanie's mental state would take a hit again too, leading her back to Philip ... who struggles not only with his own mental health, but his once confident feelings for Stephanie, his doubts that her feelings for him are genuine and the newfound relationship he's forming with Sarah.

Of course, I also think it's a perfect time to have Stephanie be pregnant with Philip's baby and have that help make everything even messier.

I'm sure it's not the same mattress Tom and Alice died in. That's insane. No one, if they have the means, keeps the same mattress for decades. Most people know to get a new one at least every 10 years.

I do it every election year, but in their universe, maybe Julie thought Jennifer got a new mattress when she lived in the primary bedroom, and Jennifer thought Maggie ordered one, but Julie definitely needs a new one now.

Also, rather than another pregnancy, I'd like to see Stephanie's PR acumen come into play.  We've never really seen her successfully manipulate public opinion.  And in the age of influencers, it might be fun to see a woman explore that type of power.  Not based on material acquisition or professional knowledge, but just have her opinion matter to other younger female characters on-screen because of her influence.

On the other hand, I think Stephanie is best as a supporting character. She's a good friend to Jada.  She is a reasonable talk-to for Chanel.  I would be fine with her just being a b-character.

Speaking of interesting PR, did everyone see this on Instagram?

    • The Saturday 8pm slot usually had the lowest rating of the NBC 4 sitcom lineup for some reason. NBC let Saturday night fizzle, They used 9.30 pm to launch 227 and Amen, both of which moved to earlier in the evening but they  kept Empty Nest following GG for several seasons.  Empty Nest should have moved to 8pm with their strongest new sitcom at 9.30, anticipating that GG would eventually falter. Instead they left them there and stretching the sitcom pool too thinly on other nights. When Grand talk over at 9.30 Thurs maybe Night Court and Wings could have been used on Saturday.
    • @Maxim Great to see your mini-reviews again. There are a number of clips on Youtube of Janice's slow mental breakdown, especially as we go into January 1980. Christine Jones is just superb. She played the hell out of that role. Something which isn't referenced as much later on is how Mitch pushed Janice's doubts and mental instability for his own ends...until suddenly he didn't want to anymore (I guess he caught on with the audience and the show became wary). I don't want to post a bunch of clips, but this one has a very good confrontation between Rachel and Janice.

This has a good scene around 7 minutes in where you can see Janice struggling internally with her need to identify herself so much by the men around her, all of which helps lead to her crackup.
    • It really made Oscar the Doorman seem like an imbecile.   I think the show's unusual format & subject manner is what makes EON often seem less "dated" and "old-fashioned" than other shows from that time period.  It never attempted to be especially "trendy" or "modern" -- and its film noir style is pretty timeless.
    • Dallas, Dynasty, Knots and Falcon Crest all had good runs but by 85 they had seen better days. I think they were a victim of the format. After several seasons seeing the same characters front and center viewers were bored. What was once fascinating grew predictable. JR, Alexis etc had to be front and center and after a while their schemes and shtick grew repetitive. JR remarrying Sue Ellen, Alexis constantly trying to get he better of Blake etc Unlike daytime, there wasn't the flexibility to bring in other stories and characters and maybe let the likes JR go backburner. That same mentality also invaded daytime with characters like  Sonny and Victor still peddling the same stuff after decades. I guess the same could be said for MSW eg every week Jessica encounters a crime and solves it,but I think viewers come to that format with a different mindset.
    • Daphnee and Trisha did a live stream on Instagram and confirmed they find out if the show gets picked up in May. This pretty much confirms they're on the primetime schedule like the Bell soaps. Fingers crossed we get a multi-year renewal announcement soon!  https://www.instagram.com/reel/DJSsYb7PDv8/?utm_source=ig_web_copy_link&igsh=MzRlODBiNWFlZA==
    • I don't think Lois the character was there.  The Lois we knew from the 90s has pretty much died with this  Gio story crap.
    • Have to agree re MM. The goody two shoes character and writing doesn't help but maybe a more dynamic actor would help Brandon lift his game also. I found the song sequence a little OTT. First of all it should have been shorter and maybe the song fades out and just some music to accompany the montage. I think it would have worked better if Anita had have been alone after everyone left and started tinkling leading into the song, with Vernon coming in observing and then joining her for  a close moment. Everyone standing around felt a little too much. And that closing effect with the two blackscreens meeting was unnecessary. Just a fade out would have been enough.
