If I had a nickel for every time I said as much to Angel and Spike fans....

There was a time when Evan Hofer would have been FORCED to improve as an actor, because, let's be honest: as fantastic as Mark Teschner is, he didn't always hit a home-run casting-wise even BEFORE Frank Valentini entered the building.  But Hofer would have had people like Wendy Riche and Shelley Curtis - not to mention, GH's once-elite directing team - working with the s.o.b., getting him to a place where, if he wasn't as good as Jonathan Jackson, he was, at the very least, watchable.

But that was then, and this is now; and now we have an EP and directing bunch who simply can't be bothered to work with their [!@#$%^&*] actors, because the only thing that's on their minds is getting everything done and everyone out of the studio before they have to pay the Teamsters overtime.

Though horribly miscast, they and Tony Geary helped Jacob Young improve tremendously at GH. He was still miscast, but at least he didn’t just stare and pout anymore.

I was shocked to see he arrived in 2022. It felt like he was there for at least 5 years to me. Five long years.

I think Evan Hofer has some potential.  He just needs to be in the right situation, with the right people guiding him.  He didn't get that w/ Frank Valentini, but then again, neither do most these days at GH.  The only ones who seem to rise above the mismanagement and lack of guidance are those who've been there for many years, who know their characters well and who know how to work even with the worst producers and directors on the planet.

I think this aspect of GH mostly faded by the late '90s, as I don't remember Juan, Hannah, Chloe, etc. ever standing out (although Hannah and Chloe were OK, I guess, just, like Dex, fodder for the main characters), but I agree the show still cared a little more at the time.

Part of me thought this was gonna end up a sting operation, still kind of do tbh. If not EH is going about this exit the right way by not leaking stuff and rage baiting fans like others have. GH gets a lot of engagement clicks on these outlets too so EH is smart to book every interview he can to boost his profile. I could see him on Days or in the Lifetime/Hallmark movie circuit.

    • I pray⏤and I know it's a big prayer⏤that Noel Maxam is somehow able to figure things out budget-wise so we can stop re-dressing existing sets as "new" sets. I know in apartment buildings apartments can generally look the same, but I'm over it on this soap. The last time he was executive producer was in 2011 when the original Horton Town Square was introduced, and we had some other sets get introduced around this time (likely pre-commissioned prior to his election), but I'm trying to have some hope he can pull this off. Let's [finally] see it.
    • Definitely not the best of RC's breakdowns. I don't know what it says that I could pick up his trademarks yesterday 30 minutes in without even knowing that he did one. There was something more...quirky/boardstroked...about Dani. Though I love the Dani/Nicole scenes, she was just a little too hip?...which made me think back to the episode when she broke into Bill/Hayley's house. Then watching the episode later on, I saw Hayley was being used as a punchline to the more interesting and relevant Bill/Ted scenes (see you all were just talking about how you hoped they got scenes...one thing this show is great at...what people want on this board...they already have the foresight for it. The reason I feel the DNA test will get mentioned @Cheap21 in more detail). And then poor Anita reduced for the most part propping up an album.    Needless to say, not my favorite RC episode. And since we are in aftermath week, I just smh. And barely worth a rewatch. BUT...was there good for me?    Yes. Thankfully, we still got good aftermath beats regardless of the breakdown.   Like I said, I really like the Dani/Nicole scenes. But I love their dynamic. And I was looking forward to the shoe being on the other foot once the SilkPress storyline hit climax. Quirks aside, it did not disappoint. Dani came in, and she came in fierce for her sister. I loved her attacking Eva. And then her being surprisingly introspective about Nicole due to her own experience. No wonder Nicole reacted to her being self-aware. So did I.    Meanwhile Bill and Ted finally met up. I'm kinda sad that we did not get that sooner given the scenes that played out sidepiece in the background aside. It might have been interesting to see more of their status as non-Duprees coming into the family explored.    And of course I can't leave without mentioning Eva vs SilkPress Sheila which was the highlight. Both of them were giving. And SilkPress was just so cold with it. I did love that Eva finally stopped letting her gaslight her. Sad to see the duo break up. But I did love that she went to Ted. So...the next turn begins.   And speaking of turns...uh oh at Kat and Tomas. I'm sure he won't be staying away from her. So most definitely, Kat vs Eva ain't over. It will be interesting to see how it goes now that most people know that Kat was right all along.
    • Nah I enjoyed it much more last year because of the Harry plot that ended during that time. Nazar being introduced and them. But this time it is so lame and nothing I like forward to anymore and I’m one of them long time fans. Of course I would be upset if they would cancel it but maybe take a year off or two and return refreshed
    • came across this quote that provides some context: “It’s hard to escape the cultural reach of the Catholic Church when you live in the Western world. It is, for better or worse, one of the load-bearing walls of our civilization. Its influence wafts from the church into the streets of civic life, the courts, the schools, the arts.”
    • Yesterday's show:   Can they give Ambyr Michelle the Emmy for supporting actress already?   Truly enjoyed the episode from Leslie and Eva, Eva and Ted, Nicole and Dani to Anita and Nicole.

    • Yes, I noticed after discovering Chandler was in several episodes. It's a shame it was canceled. I'm glad I was able to watch Chandler's episodes.
    • I'm Catholic, and I care, as do many who aren't Catholic. No need to be so nasty about it.. The whole episode was on Paramount Plus. That is where I watched it..
