Exactly. No one is clamoring for Ron Carlivati to create and write a soap.

You could have stopped after the word Carlivati, as in, No one is clamoring for Ron Carlivati full stop, no more needs to be said. 🤣🤣🤣🤥😉🙃

🤣😂😂🤣 Look, I know the guy is low-hanging fruit, but he's the one who caused that by delivering such garbage for so long.

Has he done some things well in his writing days? Yes, but he's also done AWFUL work that is self-indulgent and meta in the most horrific ways. His failures at DAYS (including Leo and Body & Soul) are epic. I'm only sorry we have 4 more months of his shlt.

Giving credit where its due, begrudgingly, yes, he can write & he has written, but for so long what he has contributed has been lacking in the most elemental ways. I am never sure if he's lazy or some say he's burned out, whatever it is, his writing is not what it should be. Between the ludicrous latex masks & his favorites & his odd sense of humor, which he thinks is some kind of calling. All in all, he is a terrible disappointment.

I was a fan before his college full moon crack eclipse.😂 He has a hot chest too!

He's just a really good-looking straight boy who's gay friendly and on all the right sides of social issues. I also love his swag....that laid back and mellow confidence.

Agreed.

Every soap writer has their highs and lows, but Ron’s lows were pretty low. In some cases, he couldn’t get lower even if he tried.

The only thing I’ll give the Body&Soul storyline is that it’s not as awful as the Dimitri storyline. That was just disgusting.

The Horton Christmas was great. They should have gone all the way classic and had a breaking the fourth wall speech of thanks from Susan Seaforth Hayes, who was especially wonderful in this episode.

I found it curious that they showed Jessica's ball, but not Marie's. And Mike and Jeremy's, but not Lucas'. I despise having Ciara's kids called Bo and Addie. Making them middle names, of course, but they have already been stripped of having any sort of identity. If the show lasts long enough for them to be brought on as young adults, they would not go by those names anymore. Heck, make one of them trans and have the other change their name in solidarity or something.

If this show was written as well as it was in it's psycho-sexual and emotional height, Kristen could be such a fascinating character, and Stacy Haiduk certainly has the chops to sell strong material, but as soap has become whittled down and generic, she is so tiresome. The Lani scenes made her seem (a little) less of a cartoon. She should be devastated to love Brady, without him wanting her, tired and aware of the heartbreak it causes her to be rejected again and again, seeing how much the man she loves loathes her, knowing rationally that she should move on from him, not knowing how to do that, but suffering at the yearning of her daughter to have her parents reunited, the child she's always dreamed of having, the child she thought would solve all her problems of loneliness and feeling unloved and alone. There should start to be real emotional and physical associations with this tiredness to fight for something she doesn't believe in anymore because she feels like it's her job as a mother. Then a new man enters her life and Rachel schemes against them, like she's done with Brady and Ava, making Kristen confused and unsure whether this man has pure intentions or is somehow just using her for his own purposes. It could all be so fascinating and gripping and gut-wrenching if they wanted it to be.

I was personally startled to see "Addie II". For 2 reasons, the one you mention, that these kids of Ciara & Ben's shouldn't have these names & because on the recaps I go by in writing detailed summaries of the early shows, Addy is spelled Addy, not Addie. So, I am guessing that the recaps are wrong & I need to change the spelling I use. @JAS0N47do you think we should go with the spelling that was just shown by you in the official pictures of the Horton ornaments? Addie instead of Addy?

Well, now you have totally sold me on your take. It always annoys me when people say that Kristen is basically all used up because of course, she shouldn't be. And, Stacy is a very able body when it comes to playing Kristen and Susan Banks, both of them. (But not Sister Mary Moira) It's a crying shame that Kristen is not being written properly. Rachel, of course, is soap opera gold. That little one is as good as Carrie was & she arguably has a tougher job.

I think about the scenes that Eric and Stacy submitted last year for Emmy consideration & know that the show could be doing more, better.

I would have fired Janet Drucker for doing NOTHING to make the show look better.

Sorry, but I can't go along with some scenario that Ron C wanted out. He was fired.

I also highly doubt he's making more on the writing staff at BTG than he was as HW on Days.

Ron probably was fired. Hundreds of headwriters have been fired over the decades of soaps. It happens. He immediately got a job at Beyond The Gates because of his talent.

Days is dull these "days". The Christmas show was flat to me. The first year without Bill Hayes and it didn't capture the sadness of his passing.

She was Addy in the 1965-1966 era. It was spelled Addie by the time Pat Barry took over the role in the 1970's, and that's the spelling I've always used for the character in all of my lists.

I don't know that I would say that. I mean, it's two totally different situations. Dimitri & Leo were disgusting, yes, that is definitely true, but it's because Leo was supposedly Gwen's best friend & if you act like that to your best friend, then, who needs enemies, right?

Body & Soul is like a slap in the face not only of & to the show but of the genre itself.

Okay, thanks for the explanation for both spellings existing, at different times. I'll start using Addie now. As always really appreciate the info!!

We just had the sadness of Doug's funeral. We didn't need that same level of grief on Christmas. The show has problems, but the level of melancholy isn't one of them.

I agree. I didn't like the Dimitri story at all or the way the show dispensed ith Peter Porte, but that was high art compared to the trash we're getting with Body & Soul. This garbage has been running for MONTHS, and that is insane.

Honestly I try not to think about how very long it's been going on!!! I mean, what the hell are they thinking?!
