Tate, Tate, Tate, you’re just like your father. You’re hot, I like ya but you’re a total…

I wonder if anybody has ever called out someone else’s name during sex

I was glad to see Sophia standing up for herself today and challenging Tate about his feelings and then dumping his ass, even though I hope that this isn’t the end for Holly/Tate/Sophia. I’ve really been enjoying this triangle and I’d like to see it play out for a while. Just please, no baby; at least not yet. And they could slow down the pacing a little bit too.

Sophia confiding everything in Ava was really nice. I’m glad that they’re continuing to make Sophia a sympathetic character. Hopefully, she keeps her edge though.

But as hot as Tate/LH looked today, the acting wasn’t that good. He really needs to add a lot more emotion into scenes like this when he plays them. At some points, Tate almost sounded smug and that wasn’t what his dialogue was implying. Him immediately running to Holly wasn’t really the best choice either, because it kinda makes him look even more like an a*shole.

I liked the Brady/Ava scenes, even though I felt like their scenes, and the EJ/Kristen scenes too were mostly written to build sympathy for Kristen. But unfortunately, I don’t think that’s gonna work lol. At this point, Kristen’s been taken too far as a villain to build sympathy for her and she did kinda deserve to get played by Brady. Maybe seeing her go head to head with the Dimera board or seeing them question her about leadership or something like that could be a good way to build sympathy.

As for Xander/Sarah, the serum thing is still unnecessary. Couldn’t they have waited to see if she was able to start walking again on her own? Or was the paralysis permanent?

Kayla and Sarah both stated post accident that due to the stroke in her spine that the paralysis was likely permanent but steroids might restore some feeling in her legs. Walking seemed like it was off the table. So the serum is her only chance. And it can't make her less paralyzed so why not take it?

I expected Sophia and Tate to last at least a week...

Also, once again my favorite game, “What time of day is it in Salem?”  Tate and Sophia are in bed, then Sophia goes to The Bistro that is closed, which makes it seem like it is late at night.  But, Kayla is at the hospital administering shots to Sarah, which seems like it would be during the day.  Unless, B&S had taken over the hospital to such a degree that the real doctors can only work at night.

Ava was searching for Stefan earlier in the week to approve the payroll.  So, is it like her search for Melinda that she just gives up any time a man wants to talk to her?  Or, is she just hiring non-paid high schoolers like Sophia to work the gig?

Given the promo about the hospital closing, I wonder if Kayla will finally get in trouble for administering non-FDA approved medicines?  These orchids, memory-inducing drugs, and magical walking serums are a big liability issue.

It's Salem o'clock.

Semi-related: I wish we had more episodes clearly set at night. Nighttime and darkness are so dramatic. It's always high noon on Days in recent years.

I was thinking the same thing about this serum and that bit from the promo. That could actually be sort of interesting and reality-adjacent.

Yes, Sofia & Tate bit the dust in record time. What the heck? And, over someone saying someone else's name in the throes of passion. I mean, come on, that's just nothing. But, I guess these kids are so juvenile & have so little life experience. However, I expect more than what we got from the pairing. Maybe they will revisit later.

Also, and I know he's not my type but I didn't see Tate as hot. The only time I even thought about his body at all was when he jumped out from under the covers & I thought, "Hmm, black Calvins, I guess we're doing that again."

Yeah… we really should’ve gotten some follow up with Rafe/Jada, Tate/Holly and the rest of last week’s storylines. And we should have seen the Johnny/Chanel/Joy dinner and (I really don’t like saying this) Javi and Leo at Small Bar too. It almost felt like there was an episode missing. I’m glad the spoilers warned us about these next few episodes but still… ugghhhh

I think today was a Jamey episode. There was so much pointless filler and in jokes. Btw, wtf is it with this guy and vomiting? Hopefully, the breakdown writers on Beyond the Gates aren’t allowed to run wild like this.

And y’all have been warned about poor Javi, even though he did look hot today. The character was ruined right out of the gate. Plus, it seems like they’re gonna rush his storyline too.

I will say that the cupcakes looked delicious though, even though this’ll probably just end up being a typical Jamey lazy retread of Biscuit-gate. And despite what Abe and Kate and everybody said today, I imagine that if Body&Soul was real, SoapTwitter would be ripping it to pieces. On a soap, you don’t recast the long running lead if the actor becomes unavailable. Especially with some random people like Bonnie or Hattie.

Yeah, that wasn't a good episode.

It is odd that every now, and then they do these self-contained episodes that do nothing to move the plot forward.

I still can't believe that the woman who owns their universe's version of Walmart lives in a home that looks like it was decorated by Pic N' Save.  And, they never seem to mention how hard she must work being a CEO and a Mayor at the same time.

The cupcakes were obviously from Hattie, and they're laced with some noxious substance.  I wonder why Javi is already scheming against Leo, unless he's doing it to please Gabi.  Hey, I just realized it's Javi and Gabi!

    • The writers need to stop writing Nick/Sharon as forever young and beautiful star-crossed lovers and write them as the middle aged adults with grown children that they are.
    • Yes. He was asleep in the living room, over in the chair that is sideways to the room, but faces it & he had one of his bad dreams in the exact same way as always & as always it woke him up. Is that a thing? Are there bad dreams that for some reason always wake you?

    • Yeah, I was fickle. I abandoned baby watch & just tried to think of really well matched pairings. Yeah, they sent Carter & Thomasina away far too soon for my way of looking at things.  I REALLY liked them & they were rare being both young & African Americans.
    • My watching in that time period was sketchy.  After high school, I didn't have a TV.  I would watch in the dormitory common room  my first year away from home, but then after that I lived in a rental with housemates who didn't want TV.  I think I caught up on the soaps during school(univ) vacations, when visiting my sister's house.  And then many many years later on soapnet?  Not sure. I had no idea that Jeff ever tried suicide. Reading just now is the first I ever heard of that. Interesting. I will agree that Monica wanted Jeff out of the way so she could be with Rick, but she would have wanted him gone emotionally.  But I don't remember watching Jeff having any medical issues, so I don't know if she would have wanted him dead.
    • Didn't he have a nightmare last week?
    • Nothing about Joss ever works. I can't blame them for trying a completely fresh approach for her, but she needs to be written out.
    • Thanks @Paul Raven  Some of this sounds strong but it's all so heavy and some elements, like with Felicia and Charles, almost veer on parody. L&L seemed to always be a heavy show - did they ever even have comic relief moments? - but I do wonder if it all became too much for viewers.
