You don't often see someone on screen with acne scars - everyone has "perfect" skin.  I'm someone who's been cursed with bad skin and it's something that's never going to go away, unfortunately, so when I saw AnnaLynne on screen with those scars, it made me proud of her because I know how insecure one can get and how emotionally draining it can be at times.  Thank you, AnnaLynne, for showing your strength by not letting those negative thoughts and feelings get in the way of you pursuing your acting career.  Thank you for showing something real about you.  It means a lot.

Connie and Melinda, Skip

I’m glad that Jennifer was smart at the beginning and immediately suspected that something was up about “Abigail”. A mother always knows.

Too bad that Jack and Chad managed to change her mind. The writers should have had Jennifer keep having those doubts. Not only would it have been a good dynamic for this storyline but it would have kept Jack and Jennifer on the canvas and a part of it, which they really should be.

I will say that Jennifer’s meltdown seemed a little out of character though.

The Gabi/Stefan/Ava confrontation was good too. Cherie Jimenez conveyed the anger and the heartbreak pretty well, even though I wish there had been more heartbreak written into the script. I’m curious as to where they’re all gonna go from here, especially Ava, since she basically has no part anymore.

Back from vacation 4/10

Gotta love the classic trope of Connie confessing everything to her dying victim.  Going on about 'here's why I did it', and 'here's how I did it'.  As if explaining the motive and opportunity to the audience will help this ridiculous story make sense.  It still feels as if we are blowing through plotlines, but if Connie survives this twist, I am going to be very annoyed.

I'm also consistently amused that faux-Abby (Fabby?) was stuck in a rundown apartment, but she's got a heck of blow out hairdo, and some banging outfits.  Didn't anyone notice her using her Amazon-prime account to buy a Dyson Airwrap and some form-fitting dresses and robes?  Why doesn't anyone in the soap universe own a set of luggage?

I also thought nu-Gabi knocked it out of the park today.  To me, she is now officially just 'Gabi' and I am dropping the 'nu' from all further references.

The specificity of Boston feels so random.  We've re-established that they are close to Chicago when Johnny talked about jobs in entertainment.  Yet, there seems to be an hourly shuttle between Salem and Boston where Jack, Jennifer, Bo, Hope, Shawn, Belle, Ben, Ciara, and their two kids lives.  That's a lot of characters in one place off-screen.  Do Mike, Nancy, Joy, Chloe, and Parker live in New York or Massachusetts?

    • no argument here! and as she was singing, i kept wondering how many verses ‘amazing grace’ had. looked it up: 13 — 13! — and i think she must have sung  every one.
    • Yasss, ANITA!!! GET HER!!!   Awww at Smitty calming Martin down.   'Oh, you're the one leaving.' That face like stone. Go 'head, Nicole.    Eva vs Kat...the gift that keeps giving.
    • I have to admit I still have a nagging complaint about timelines - Why aren't we allowed to know how long Ted and Nicole have been married or how old Kat and Eva are? Or for that matter, when Anita last released an album? BTG is a new show with no SORAS or timewarping. MVJ and Guza are working from a fresh bible. There is no need to be so coy about ages and anniversaries, especially when most of the storylines are driven by past events.
    • It was an extremely rare interview even then - I was shocked when I read it (as mentioned I'd forgotten just how far in she went). You could see how hurt and annoyed she was. I'm surprised he thought she came up with the baby story herself. She and Charles Keating did a good job with the material but it was absolute hokum. Even if they loved Carl and Rachel (and clearly they did), I don't see them coming up with stuff that, frankly, read like Geocities fan fic. Malone was clearly hobbled by NBC and P&G, but re-using so many of his old stories and his soap bible instead of actually coming up with material suited to the characters or show did not help.
    • Seeing this trash get good ratings says nothing good about daytime audiences. It's embarrassing.
    • Cat does feel committed to being a goofball (the other term has been reconsidered in recent years).  I wonder, given her brother Aaron, if Cat was less attractive prior to the surgery?  Remember the 1973 movie The Girl Most Likely to?  My fanfic for the moment is Cat commenting on how people treat her differently now that she is gorgeous.  One assumes that pre-surgery, Cat never had two men fighting over her for a date.  So, it might be fun to see that side of the story.
    • It's probably one of the only conflicts the story will have, aside from Dante being upset with Lulu when the truth comes out. They really needed someone else who actually knows Gio is Dante and Brook Lyn's son and kept quiet.
    • So Cat wasn't a creation of Ron C.. but something that the strike writers generated? Perhaps the new writers will give her some layers and purpose on the show that doesn't revolve around Chad since isn't he on his way out next year?
    • Another good show today, but -- Why is super agent Joss holding that thumb drive in plain sight instead of stashing it in her denim shorts? Make it make sense. -- Dante going after Gio (in the previews) for Rocco's alcohol poisoning is lame and cliche, just a contrived way to drive a wedge between father and son.
    • Didn't he get all angry because the strike writers set her up to be Abigail? And he just went with the first thing that came to mind in order to prevent that?
