Yeah, we're gonna need an exit interview from Mulcahey to explain why this did not work out.

idk, it's pretty obvious to me. But it would be great if he did one.

FV clearly never was behind this hire or losing his trained writers, which is why Van Etten is back. The show was much improved but also deeply schizophrenic and stuck in the mire. Now Frank gets to keep control and reset. Sad, predictable but I don't have to watch it.

I can't pretend I was watching regularly, but I did have more interest in the show again, after ignoring it (more out of apathy than any rage) for most of the last decade, but the analyses and interest from you and others in this thread did help capture my interest again. It could never last, but it was a nice dream.

To me... it is sad. Since I was just beginning to watch and... wanting to see how PM will do as HW... Now I will never know. And... I know lots of people were saying it's not better, but as a person who didn't have anything to compare it to... I liked it a lot.

But... if this is right for the show... I am not equipped to tell. I am just sad, don't know why.

I still say PM wasn't allowed to write for the characters/stories he wanted to. FV was still pulling the strings.

But to rehire a fired writer again?😂

To me this shows ABC gives no F*cks if the show lasts much longer.

While I thought the dialogue was better, the job change carousel was not riveting much watch TV. Faults and all, I wasn't bored with the previous writing regime as I am now.

It's shades of Corday's long codependent relationship with Dena Higley or Tomlin/Whitesell tbh. Any time something got too bold it was back to them as his security blanket despite Dena being nightmarish and panned for years. Or, I suppose in a different way, whatever the hell has gone on with Y&R/Sony and Josh Griffith for years.

FV has built and controlled the creatives at GH since RC got fired - D&C were his people and wrote largely what he wanted. PM was loud, had a proud reputation at GH predating all of them and was not a yes man. It doesn't take Encyclopedia Brown to crack this case. It's the same old lazy, safe stuff to keep control.

The moment it was confirmed that Van Etten pitched a story about Heather's hip, and that PM and others loved it(supposedly), I knew something was up

Yeah, for me, that was another, earlier sign (earlier than Van Etten's name showing up again) that something was amiss.  Since I don't have to be polite anymore about it, I'll just say that I thought that idea (the poisoned hip) was junk from the beginning and smacked of the kind of idiotic bullshit that Van Etten would come up with.

I knew PM was not a yes man... so this proves it in a way. I wish him well. He is sooo talented. Deserved a proper chance.

Supposedly the new team didn't gel well together. To me that means Korte wanted Frank's vision and PM did not lol

Anyone have any confirmation past Buzzworthy?

I guess they assumed they would get more of a boost from Jason's return than they did, and Mulcahey was the scapegoat.
<snip> Korte, who will still get to write whatever Carly and Joss centered material she wants.

All of this.

So glad I didn't bother to subscribe to Hulu.    I have zero interest in Korte's vision of GH.

I posted the breakdown writer news, to be clear. I have not updated it as yet until I have two sources requiring an update.
