hmm... interesting. Not sure how I am feeling about this, now. Hmmmmm. I mean, if Michele Val Jean is trusting them, then I'll trust her.

And Atlanta?! Are they [possibly] using Tyler Perry's studio lot?!

Meh. I am not excited about Guza or Carruthers being involved. I love Patrick Mulcahey if he is the other writer.

I just feel like she needs to have many Black writers around her, as we know our own experience and quirks.

And I love that the show is being filmed here in GA. Those film tax credits are good here. I'll give the GOP that.

The source would appear to be the casting sides that are probably online somewhere. I imagine that's how most of the information will be revealled this stage of the game.

She needs to have YOUNG black writers that she and here team can train on the ins and outs of writing soaps. The unfortunate thing is she does not have an expansive pool of black soap writers who understand the nuts and bolts of the genre to tap into (this is where daytime failed) - but hoping she can use this opportunity as a chance to create opportunities and train up and coming black talent.

So the setting is DC, but no political vibes from the character bios, yet.

Yes, there was.

❝ Another character the show is looking for someone to play is Betty, a Black female in her late 60s to 70s. She is a family matriarch. (Betty surely will be joining the ranks of other soap opera beloved moms. Read about other matriarchs here.) A famous singer, Betty did not find success easily. She is proud to have raised two daughters with her iconic retired Senator husband. While she’s a doting mother, Betty is not someone who should be crossed. ❞

Victoria Rowell is 65. She'd fit fine into the role. 🤷🏻‍♂️

Oh, good catch!

I revised my picks for Betty on the count of the character being a singer.

Telma Hopkins, Valarie Pettiford, Tonya Pinkins and Tamara Tunie
