If Jill is spearheading this effort to get the company’s name changed, why Abbott, which Jill hasn’t been in such a long time? Is she doing it to solidify Billy’s tie to the company, as Billy has always been an Abbott?

Someone who watches the show these days will have to explain the reasoning behind this to me when they get the chance.

If someone were to ask the actors behind these companies on Y&R to describe in one sentence, what their companies do, I wonder how many of them could actually do this without faltering?

Last time I watched, even Jabot seemed to be involved in everything except making cosmetics.

I have no explanation for the stupid storyline.

However, that picture of Mishael is wonderful.  As always, she is a goddess!

And wow, they have her wearing the same blouse she wore on her last visit in March.
I mean she dazzles in it but still.

Killing off Hilary was such a boneheaded decision. She was the most electrifying characters the show had had in eons. I agree that Amanda never had a chance to really develop into anything. Does anyone remember Karen Spencer on B&B? Same story, same result. They had no idea what to do with Amanda and tried to make her "Hilary-lite" which just went nowhere. It would have been better for Hilary to come back from the dead in some sort of crazy, illogical plot twist.

Welp. I mean…they could just name it CWA and call it a day then. I don’t really see the big deal either, it’s not like it’s a law firm where a person has to undergo a process to become partner, more like an accounting firm like Price Waterhouse Cooper becoming PWC- one press release and it’s done, no biggie.

Josh is literally taking office kitchenette minutiae and trying to create storylines from it. It’s not even interesting enough to be nicknamed Watercooler Talk, lol.

And podcast became the most used word in every script. Weren't they the basis for CW success? And then they seemed to disappear. Doesn't seem good business practice to be chopping and changing your focus.

Was there anything less interesting than seeing Billy ramble on about the meaning of (his) life?

I love Mishael dearly but she is too good for this show now. Sorry, y'all. As many have pointed out, they stupidly should've never killed Hillary. Even then, they should've given her the writing necessary when she played Amanda.

C'mon, Shonda! C'mon Dick Wolf! Someone! I am shocked she has not been snagged on a primetime drama/procedural at this point. She has what it takes.

I agree. Maybe she really wants to do more independent films and this is her way to help finance these projects. I doubt the work challenges her but the security of the money and what she can use it for is probably the lure.
As for Hollywood, it is a very provincial town, even smaller for actresses of color. It seems as though we tend to see the same group of actresses, sorted according to age group and it’s a rotating assortment. I tell you what though…MM needs to get whoever represents Zendaya to be her agent too, Zendaya is always engaged in some project, whether it’s a success or flop, she’s soon onto another high profile job!

Yeah, ACW sounds like a bootleg root beer brand but if JG is really trying to build an entire storyline around a company name— uh, that’s not going to have the effect he thinks it will.

FWIW, most of the talent are too good for present day Y&R but I understand what you mean @NothinButAttitude due to MM young age and the possibilities that used to be open to Daytime Emmy winners, unfortunately daytime soaps don’t have the same caché they had at their heights.

    • I think Jason might've posted some numbers for the syndication a while ago and the numbers for Falcon Crest was horrible. Like 1.5 rating or something, which was terrible.    ETA: it was actually Paul Raven:   New to syndication 60 min Fall Guy 67 markets 3.1/8 Falcon Crest 110 markets 1.1/5 To get into the top 40, you needed a 4.6/9 rating for reference - and Falcon Crest managed to get into a lot of markets to begin with. In the fall of 1985 Dynasty, Dallas and Knots were syndicated (show / rating / share / coverage % / markets): Dallas 3.4 10 51.7 92 Dynasty 3.4 10 48.7 47  Knots Landing 3.3 10 12.5 20  So, Knots as an example trippled Falcon Crest's rating with 20 markets - I'm sure those were major ones but it just goes to show you how much Falcon Crest bombed in syndication.
    • It's not bad but the stories move too slow. It's the same problem when Dan O'Connor was CO-HW with Van Etten, they have a million stories and they all drag on endlessly with no resolution. I'd argue the majority of the stories airing now are good but you get sick of waiting months for something to happen.
    • Thanks. I must have missed that period entirely for Lifetime.
    • Thanks. I know Marland did that type of thing sometimes but it's less likely with these characters. I don't even remember Alex ever mentioning him.
    • French fan summary Rusty took over Simon's job at Lewis Trucking after Simon transferred to Lewis Oil's North Carolina office to live near Jessie and Calla. I doubt they would bother following up a story for offscreen characters eg marriage and a baby.
    • I suspected that the performance with the reveal was the reason why the Ted actor got the axe and it looks like I was right. He wasn't really good at conveying what needed to be conveyed in those scenes. Claybon is at least slowly improving (but I agree that he still needs to work on his line delivery), but I do wonder what will happen when his big reveal is coming up.
    • I've already asked this before, recently, but can anyone who watched those years more closely tell me if anything said about Jessie and Simon at the end of their profiles is accurate (about them marrying, naming a baby after Brandon/Lujack, etc.)?
    • Nicole is way too smart to not know she was carrying twins - she's a doctor! My guess is that Leslie did abort her baby out of fear, and as payback, stole Ted and Nicole's child (Eva), and stole Kat from another family to replace her in the hospital.
    • Those Soap Central profiles have a lot of incorrect info. According to SOD summaries and the Daytime Newsletter of the time,Tim left town for a new job and Pam reunited with the father of her baby and also departed Springfield. They did not marry.
    • Do we believe that Jabot is at the level of Estee Lauder?? I am on board with Jabot deciding to expand but the way it was handled was ridiculous. Jabot just decided and bingo, that was that. Not months of negotiations and decisions about how it would fit into the Jabot portfolio. And then no follow through. Josh thinks he's serving business stories by characters sitting around and discussing mergers, takeovers and job switching. Now we have Audra setting up her own company -Vibrator or something. Well, why not? You don't need staff, office space or even products.
