…and we actually had a talented and charismatic actor with Micah Alberti. He was very “Tad Junior” in his swagger. The actor was polished, but it took so long to figure out what to do with Jamie that Micah was already Primetime bound by the time they figured it out.

I love that Justin Bruening and Alexa Havins met on set, but in terms of acting chops the next Robert Redford he was not…

With Bianca Montgomery front and center for so many years on AMC, you have to wonder why the writers never gave her half-siblings Molly and Mathew a meaningful storyline. Both had so many roots on campus. They were clean slates that the writers could have taken anywhere. And because their parents were not related to everyone, they were ripe for romantic pairings across the canvas.

Molly’s cancer and Matt’s conception storyline was such a big storyline on the show. It would have been nice to see it come full circle by seeing what happens in a sibling relationship like that.

Guiding Light

Ben Reade undervalued

Shayne Lewis undervalued. Every time we got a recast it was like a different character compared to the last.

Samantha Marler undervalued/underdeveloped. Pretty crazy how we never heard from her again after her departure in the early 90s.

India took in a kid by the name of Dorie, and India returned three times after her departure in the 80s, and Dorie was never mentioned. Could've been India's Achilles heel of sorts when it came to India's involvement the Spaulding corporate drama over the years.

Matthew Evans was Amanda Spaulding's younger brother (his parents Jennifer and Mark Evans) and could have mixed it up with Michelle Bauer/Ben Reade/Billy Lewis.

Emily Norris was the daughter of Ken Norris and Janet Mason. Ken returned in the late 90s, but the show of course had no interest at the time in it's history. Emily would've added to the Holly/Blake/Roger/Ed dynamic.

William "Billy" Fletcher son of Peggy Scott; instead of introducing Hart Jessupt/Laura Jessup as part of Roger's history would've been quite nice to have Peggy's son return and increasingly become like a surrogate son to Roger with Blake growing jealous while on the outs with Roger.

Andy Norris was written off and sent to jail after blackmailing the residents of Springfield; but I think the show should've brought him back at some point down the road to continue being a headache for both the Spaulding and Lewis families(Andy's history with Trish/his history with Alan).

Yep to everyone who said Y&R. To their credit and detriment, they never abandoned veteran characters for younger ones. This also resulted in an underdeveloped new generation to take the manual, or be invested in. The younger charachters up until the Nick & Sharon era stuck. Everyone after that except maybe Billy fell off. Abby, Devon & Lilly aren't that interesting. Cassie and Colleen were killed off for no reason. Moses, Reed, Faith, etc are nowhere to be seen.

    • I do wonder if the show realized that fans would take to Silk Press and Eva as much as we have?    To me, I think the core four was mostly used to get eyes on the show since all four were familiar performers in both daytime and primetime.   Of the four, I think Nicole is used most effectively where it doesn't look as though she's hogging airtime.  She works as a lead and as a talk to. Anita has been the most under utilized of the four, but I do have a feeling that might be changing once the Ted/Nicole/Eva/Silk Press Story goes back to support status. Of the four, I think Dani has been over-used.. but I do still see potential for the character.  I know some people think she's the modern day Erica Kane, but I don't see that.  Erica was a Have Not that became a Have while Dani is a Have by birth and has done nothing to have earned being a Have. Good cliffhanger.
    • LOL now this sells it for me!  I can't wait to watch later tonight!
    • I think this is a great observation.  I do wonder if some of that was down to how Nixon had started writing story and plot outlines.  By this point (maybe even by the mid 70s) many have discussed how she *didn't* write detailed story outlines anymore--the focus more was on a mood or theme and ABC simply allowed that because they trusted her at this stage (in her "memoir" I think even Megan McTavish talks about Nixon's writing in this way in the 90s and she basically seems to admit that it worked for Nixon.  But if Nixon wasn't in charge of the daily execution of these ideas...)
    • Ooooooo that was a soap reveal!!!   And we even got a brief Kat vs Eva fight.   OOoooo cliffhanger!!! Oh, yeah, I remember they had a cover story, but I find it interesting that it was just mentioned again today. I wonder could it be foreshadowing another twist coming up.
    • Thank you @rsclassicfanforever for 2824 (and that incredible s11 and s12 upload)! The number of non-English speaking episodes left have been reduced to double digits.
    • Eva and Dana came up with a story to tell Fairmont residents that Dana's name is Leslie and that Leslie is Eva's surrogate/foster mom who took her in after Eva's real mom died. This is what they agreed to tell everyone. But Eva is really Dana's daughter, or at least as far as Eva knows and believes.  Eva believes Dana really is her mom.
    • Kat is so shady.   Oh, Eva's out!!
    • Dani...and Eva??? And now Ted and Nicole are setting her up for success. These scenes are sooooo giving old school soap when the schemer is being set up for a fall...loving it.    YASSSSSSSSSSSSS!!!! He showed up with his FOINE self!!   Oh my Goodness! Kat is really on it today. Wait! Eva is the daughter of one of Leslie's friends who passed away. OH, REALLY? So that cover story might not be just a cover story then...   These Eva vs Silk Press Sheila scenes!!!    Awww...I guess no Vanessa, but at least she was mentioned.
