Cody has so much potential. The actor is good too, nuanced in his performance and with good comedic timing. Gosh he was fun with Britt.

I could see him with Kristina or spoiler for Molly/TJ. Maybe he could get a desk job at the PCPD as slowly work past his unsavoury past?

What are folks thoughts on Dante/Sam? The actors have chemistry, moreso than their recent pairings. Gosh, I never realised how bad Dante/Lulu were together until now. Gosh those two actors were mismatched.

Cody had one of the most unpopular character introductions I've seen in a long time last year. People still call him "Truck Nuts" for reasons I don't understand but find hilarious. Given that, I don't think you need to do anything profound except tread lightly and let him be a classic soap staple: Local mischievous hunky stableboy, and maybe loves his dear old dad (Mac). He can be a fun fling for Elizabeth, he can be slotted in other places (or written out) but you can figure it out later.

Dante and Lulu never did it for me but they were, in their original incarnation with Julie Berman, a pretty popular couple. By contrast, Dante and Sam are a C-tier snooze button pairing designed to fill the actors' guarantees while the show clearly has little to no active interest in them. I thought pairing them was a nice idea on paper that didn't work, and I think Sam as a character is spent and should be written out. Dante I would move to Brook Lynn at least for awhile given their shared history and potential for fun mystery stories, and then I would reintroduce Lulu with Marci Miller or whoever. But I'd need to find a better version of the Lulu character to situate on the canvas - lean into the adventurous journalist thing that they briefly introduced before firing Rylan, maybe - and then you can see whether she and Dante work anymore, since I never loved their original story.

I would love to see Dante in BL’s orbit. Revisit their childhood friendship first and have BL use Dante as a confident. Play up their inside jokes. Let them accidentally fall in love, so that there is a tension and some stakes with Sam.

Sam is better as the spoiler in a relationship than as a romantic lead. She is meant to be rough around the edges.

Sam should have been written out years ago.  The Dante/Sam pairing is good idea in theory, but it's so boring.  I don't really know why DZ came back.  There is no interest in the character, but he was on everyday for 3 years so I guess that's what happens.

I really liked JMB's Lulu/Dante.  Mostly Dante, but I thought it made Lulu tolerable at the time.

Well, there goes my idea of having her and Drew co-host a daily chatfest called "Day by Day with Drew & Sam."

In theory you’re right, Sam is a shell of a character and writers have struggled to write a story for her. Heck, she even sucked opposite the return of Jason.

It’s clear that since DWTS, Kelly is one of ABC’s recognisable daytime stars. She will have to leave on her own accord. I can’t see it happening.

Someone should at least give her Som coffee so she is not so sleepy on set.

I have never been a Sam fan.  She's always been so lifeless and had the energy of someone that took about 5 xanax before filming.  But she used to get story and was popular.  Now she's practically a background character.  So she may not get fired or anything like that but she certainly doesn't have the story or importance she once did.  She could disappear for a full month and I wouldn't notice.  Perhaps if they developed Sam more as a character outside of Jason years ago she wouldn't be in this position, but it is what it is.

Okay, so my latest cats culling list:

Sasha, Willow, Drew, Diane, Chase, Finn, Gregory, Maxie, Spinelli, Sam

…and is it strange I would not miss a single one? Even Maxie, who was the child on GH we all grew up with and loved.

Have we gotten any payoff from Lucy’s return from the dead? For months, a whole town mourned her. Did we see her since her Nurses’ Ball return?

This has to be a mistake right?

    • Well, that is weird. I do not see him but I only have him on Ignore on 2 accounts.
    • In the preview for the show back in February on Entertainment Tonight, Jeresa the costume designer was specific about each character's economic background, personality, and the character's personal fashion preferences.  Very much about the characters and not the actors. She said Eva is a thrifter, so her normal daily wardrobe would be something from a thrift store, and if BTG buys it new, they intentionally make it look used. So what you said fits about the type of thing a lower income person would buy for a fancy event.
    • As hard as it is for me to imagine anyone but Don Stewart as Mike Bauer...I dunno...maybe someone like "Adam-12"'s Kent McCord?  Or Robert Hogan?
    • Yep I don't hate Javi and then he's macking on Leo and I'm done with him. Leo is a failure who needs to go away   I am bracing myself for Alex reading the manuscript and imagining him and Stephanie as the main characters, because this couple has literally nothing else to do until Joy comes back showing
    • Oh yes. The towel scene though
    • Interesting that Donald May has been mentioned twice. He's on my dreamcast list for Alan. He was somewhat older than Stewart and Bernau, but he could have played either role. An actor I thought about for Mike was Dan Hamilton. He played a role on GL during the 60s, but enough time had passed that it shouldn't have been a problem. He usually played smarmy characters but it would have been cool if they had gone against typecasting.
    • I like Jed Allan, it has to be someone who can play authority but "good" authority to oppose Alan's bad. As mentioned upthread, can you imagine how it would have been with Alan and Mike against each other, with Roger in the mix. But I would have had Roger, ever the opportunist to try to take advantage of their fighting to make his own headway.  Maybe that could have been the storyline, Mike involved with Alex, but the constant fighting with Alan causes a rift (she like Mike fighting Alan when it is to her advantage, but he can be a bit self righteous and I can see him demanding her to disavow Alan publicly..) so that is how Roger lands in her bed, much to the consternation of BOTH Alan and Mike. I would like to have a woman of a certain age being fought over by two men (really three if you count Alan.
    • Please let May have less garbage time. The Y&R threads have shrunken, whereas I can barely keep up with the Beyond the Gates threads.
    • The Liam cancer story was a failure from day one. It didn't start at point A but at a late point C. My aunt had brain cancer, and it isn't being told properly or correctly.
    • OMG, did Gio look good. Do not get me started on how good he looked. Lord. It's as if the writers realized Lulu had almost no scenes with her mother, so they wrote all this material for a 2-day Lulu/Laura therapy session. It was nice to see them connect, but I scratched my head yesterday when Lulu tried to connect her adoption story to Laura's life. That was a stretch to me, and I sign the writers were working overtime. Today, the script eventually got to the right place, but I thought it was overboard to see Lulu so worked up that she was near tears. That's investment in a story that's become an obsession.
