His dialogue was great.

Very nice, caring and romantic. I really enjoyed those scenes between them. They also both looked really good in them.

I thought that today's scenes were a nice blend of tenderness and passion. It is romantic that Spencer wants to wait for Trina's sake. I'm glad that it looks like Sprina is out of the friend stage of their relationship. I was hoping they would move forward as a couple and it looks like they are on the path of doing that.

After watching today's scenes think they are going to be very close and act like a couple going forward. They both are smitten with each other and can't keep their hands off each other.  Trina definitely seems like she's falling more for him now. He's her guy now. I also thought it was amusing how Trina was trying to stay where he was staying lol.

Speaking of that, I do think she may end up staying with him at some point. Maybe sooner than later. Especially now that he knows that Ryan and Heather are at Wyndemere and are Esme's parents. I do think that Spencer might have Trina stay with him in an effort to protect her. Especially since I believe (unless something changed) he's still with Sonny now. Maybe he feels like Sonny could help give her extra protection. If she stays with him that could help them grow closer. I am interested in seeing how tomorrow's scenes play out and see where she ends up spending the night.

I also think that Spencer will be even more determined than ever to get custody of his baby sibling now that he knows who Esme's biological parents are. He will not want his baby sibling to possibly be around two serial killer grandparents. I think that Trina will play into things as well and she may encourage him to go after custody. Maybe this may also help lead to a marriage between them at some point.

It actually makes sense as an organic character beat that Stella's intense faith and busybody nature would drive her to drop a dime on Portia - I love it.

Why, if they want people to buy him as Drew, did they have TV host Cameron Mathison hosting the wedding just like he hosts way too much basic cable?? Laura was not feeling it when he took the mic.

That is well said. But, it is a bigger issue than just this storyline. Liz's story, they didn't know what they were doing upfront & then made decisions & then changed those decisions & made other decisions. Nina & missing daughter/daughters, same thing only played out over a longer period of time. Now, not deciding ahead of time who the serial killer is, making it up as you go along. This is the kind of mistake a young inexperienced HW or team would make. They should know better! It's incredibly stupid and there's no excuse for it.

Pretty bonkers that Portia's family leaves before the wedding reception is over. I assume that when more than 3 non-white folks are on for multiple consecutive episodes Frank worries someone in the audience will call 911.

The awkward reaction shots of everyone trying to react to Marshall's much-hyped, tinny-sounding barely-there flute playing like he's Will Ferrell in Anchorman made me wish it had turned out that he is in fact a terrible musician after the 40-year wait.

    • John loved Sami unconditionally and forever
    • On May 27, Johnny spoke to Sami on the phone, and learned that Sami and Sydney were trying to fly in from Sicily, but were stopped by a volcanic eruption because the ash had grounded all the planes. As discussed on the May thread, ash from Mt. Etna in Sicily caused planes to be grounded in summer 2024, so Cwikly/Ford would have known that.  (I just learned that Mt. Etna has been considered "active" with intermittent activity since 2022.) Friday May 30, Will said that Sami and Sydney found another flight and will be here soon. Well, Sami and Sydney got out just in time, because … There was (and still is ongoing) a huge eruption of Mt. Etna that began very early Monday morning June 2 Italy time (which would be Sunday night June 1st Chicago time) and a volcanic ash plume had reached an altitude of around 6,400 metres (around 3 or 4 miles high) https://www.independent.co.uk/news/world/europe/mount-etna-eruption-volcano-smoke-lava-live-updates-b2761911.html
    • Agree to disagree. Like first, love second. OH, agree, agree, agree! Legendary Featherstone, you're not dressing this one well at all. Petite woman with ample bosom, wrong clothes = awful  matronly looking ugh. I'm sorry but I felt hit over the head with everything each of them thought & felt for about 6 more days than I felt I had signed on for.  I don't know you well enough to know if you will know when I'm teasing, so I've just warned you that I am when I say, I hate for you that you haven't actually met Danielle before. LOL. To me it was just a natural take.  I have no problem going back & forth between those two focal sites. But, I am certainly aware that early on I had an expectation of being really into their having 27 sets & that has definitely not been the realization. And, yes, for now, Frank is still heads above any & all others with us & sets IMO.  Huh? Guza gone. I have it in my head that he was only willing to come out of retirement (and presumed mourning) for a "certain amount of time" to help get this new creature launched, but had no desire to stay & so was one of the "over-staffed intentionally" that we were told about. Of course there's been no official word on the circumstances of his leaving.  But, you might mean go with Guza as in a style, if so, ignore the last para.

    • I'm so pleased we have such fan engagement about Dani. Reminds me of some other soap characters. I think it's because they are "polarizers" which is a word I may have just made up. They are polarizing on their shows to other characters & to story & they are polarizing in the audience as fans seem to have extreme reactions to them, love & hate, not middling neutrality, ya know? Well, it's a theory.  To me the human being you seek has been amply shown especially to two people & both more or less recently. Her sister bond with Nicole, whoa, has knocked me back & blown me away. And, with Chelsea, over her budding sexual identity and awareness. She gathered instantly that something was up with that daughter & was laser focused on her for several scenes. Then, for a third, she & Pamela have finally, also recently, been so real & genuine & authentic.
    • Thanks, Paul, I did not know about his interest in the comedic elements or that he was one of our many people who came from the network! I have always liked Marlena de la Croix's writing, which is not to say I 100% agree with her. She's been a member of my FB soap group for a good long time & she actually posts, which I love. Recently I posted about an e-copy of Robert LaGuardia's SOAP WORLD that is free to borrow like a library e-book but on the Internet Archive site & I posted that at the time of their publications, all of his soap opera books were the gold standard.  She immediately posted about "Bob" who was her close friend & how much she still misses him to this day & that he loved to talk soaps & was also a nice guy, etc. which I was over the moon to have her share about the author & his time etc. like that!!!
    • Just more RTD ego trips, seemingly his main reason for coming back.
    • Thanks @Paul Raven  That's a lovely writeup. Do fans feel it was warranted?
    • So I was reminded that we're now meant to be celebrating PRIDE by this amazing post:

I really wonder why they chose to write this whole ‘John is getting better’ part of the storyline, especially since we all knew what was really going to happen. And I hope we find out the answer someday. But as tough and as tearjerking as today was, it was also really beautiful. And the acting, even though a lot of it if not all of it was real, was spectacular. The flashbacks were beautiful too. I honestly can’t even describe how much I enjoyed today.  Having so many of John and Marlena’s scenes be focused on the two of them and their love story was the right decision. It was a fitting end to John and Marlena. And I’m also glad that John and Steve got to have one last goodbye after everything that happened. As for Bo and Hope and their family, I did think that some parts were a little unnecessary but I really enjoyed Bo’s dream and his reunion with Zack. The acting playing Zack actually did a pretty good job too. Everybody encouraging Bo to fight was really the right decision in this storyline as well.  As for the final minutes of today, be prepared. I actually have tears running down my cheeks as I write this.
