Tripp gets the idea that Johnny was sleeping with Ava & punches him right in the nose. Sorry after he finds out they did not do the deed. Wendy talking to Gabi abt wanting a job which Gabi can't help with anymore.

EJ & Li & Stefan, where Li makes it known that the board doubts Stefan's mental competence over the 4 yr coma, etc.

Gwen dreams that Xander wants her back & wakes as Jack comes in her room. She's getting discharged & he's picking her up. Xander is wanting to move in at Victor's & hopes Jack will give him a job. ??!! Maggie seems surprised.

Wendy asks when the wedding will be & Gabi does not know.

Tripp goes to talk to EJ & hits him in the nose, too! He is protective of Ava!!

EJ is interested in hiring Wendy.

Stefan takes divorce papers to Gabi to sign & they bicker. ??

Johnny is looking for his dad's password & EJ walks in the office & finds him standing at his desk.

Then, the last word of the short/sweet recap is AVA!

They need to give Drake fun lite family material like on Beyond Salem 2. They need to stop with the dramatic stuff because it's embarrassing.

I would say that has always been the case with Drake.  Since the beginning he was just a likable, charming guy.  He feels like a genuine nice guy and someone you would want to have a beer with lol.  He's never been great although I did think he did really good work with Christie and kid actors in general.  He does well with the romance and family stuff and that's enough.

I think most of us agree that he really excels at the family stuff, so they ought to play that as often as possible.  And in the context of his whole body of work, I actually think RC has really highlighted that John and Steve are best friends, actually to the point where it seems a little overdone… because John has Abe and Steve has Jack (super surprised that relationship gets overlooked, considering it’s one of the show’s historically most significant).  Don’t get me wrong, I like them as friends and DDH & SN work very well together, but it feels like without Bo, they just defaulted to them as besties.

The real solution to giving him more to do is obviously Brady & Kristen, since RC is hell bent on continuing this utter nonsense.  J&M should be ALL up in this, but I think RC wants to put distance there because it really would destabilize the integrity of the story (kind of like Chad/Abby/Ben/Ciara).  The most interesting I’ve ever seen John (though it was dark and led to him & Marlena separating iirc) was when he was gonna agree to hate f**k Kristen if she’d leave Brady alone.  There is sooo much to play here, but they just don’t.  Instead they have Kristen terrorizing a girl Belle went to high school with instead of mixing it up with her 90’s contemporaries.  It’s such a bad, baffling turn for the character.  And obviously the baby Kristen should have should be Eric’s from the rape, not Brady’s from when she basically raped him, too.  Omg lol.

Agree with everything lol.  I don't mind Patch/John as BFF or even Kayla/Marlena, but according to history they just aren't.  It really is directly related to the absence of Bo though like you said.

Again, the elephant in the room with Brady/Kristen will always be John/Marlena.  It's the story they belong in, but you can't put them in it without bringing up the history.  And RC wants to play Brady/Kristen as some sort of sick romance, almost an endgame situation.  While Brady being in the story was interesting at first when ED played it, the person Kristen should always be set on is John.   With Marlena as her enemy.  At least John knew a better side of Kristen, has a long history, once loved her and were planning a future together. Brady and Kristen were completely toxic and wrong from day one.  I am not sure I would have ever given Kristen a child, tbh.  It feels slightly unnecessary with her current criminal mastermind behavior.

Tripp was throwing right hooks all over the place today. I don't blame him

I loved the smirk on Li's face after Tripp slugged EJ. And I also loved how Tripp immediately apologized to Johnny and asked if he was ok. He's such a good guy  Though I'd love for Tripp/Johnny to be bitter enemies, I did really like that bromantic moment between them

Still don't see how Xander and Sarah can't get their own apartment. I know they gave us some excuse about Sarah only being paid half her salary, but the woman's a doctor. Is Salem that expensive?

And, Idk why but I feel bad for Li every time he walks in on Gabi and Stefan. It's like she's trying to turn the poor guy into a cuck

And Steve looked right at him & said, "What is that in your hair?" And, with attitude he said, "GLITTER!" where it sounded like, ya gonna make something of it?!!

I totally loved Tripp today! He kept hauling off & hitting people & then looking chagrined that he'd done it!

Sarah would just get another job if this one was half-pay!

Li is being set up for a big fall I fear.

KILL ME NOW AND LIGHT ME ON FIRE.

Kristen as a CHARACTER just screams travesty these days. I want her gone, period. ED owns the role anyway, and the faux-power given to Kristen is just ludicrous.

As far as John goes, Drake is and will always be a terrible actor -- but he's one I'm more than OK with keeping. Call it history, call it tradition, call it whatever you want. Some bad actors like Drake can stay.

But the guy who plays Li? My God -- he's awful. He's a handsome dude (and that is worth a lot hehe) but there's a lot of eye candy out there who can act.

    • A new day in Salem… and a new day for Days.  I like the way everybody found out and absorbed the news about John’s death, and how they all eventually found their way to Marlena’s to offer their condolences. I’m not particularly sure why they waited until the next day to tell everybody but I don’t really mind it.  We finally got Roman’s perspective! His scenes with Kayla were one of the best parts of today. I’m glad that Roman is thankful for everything that John did for his kids. I agree with posters who said that he should’ve had a scene like this with John, but I’m happy we got this at least.  Julie was used very well today too. She’s definitely the best person for Marlena to have scenes with at the moment. Hopefully, Julie continues to be there for her. And yes, I totally agree with Marlena and Belle sending EJ away when he came to the apartment. I’m curious to see what’s going to happen to his and Belle’s relationship in the aftermath of all this. And, while I enjoyed most of Brady and Kristen’s scenes, I still think the ship has sailed for them. Hopefully, the aftermath of John’s death causes Brady to finally end this thing with her once and for all.  And, I see a lot of people were wearing some kind of shade of purple today.

    • Wow, I love that current and former actors are participating in this. I barely recognize Staci Greason! She looks fine, just very different. But I will be happy to hear anecdotes from her. I shipped RoJohn and Isabella hard back in the day, and I sobbed buckets in my dorm room at college when Izzy B passed. Honestly, I'm interested in everyone's stories. Drake seemed like he was well loved among the cast.
    • When she first appeared, I was sure she was setting Tyrell up for a prank. She was too much of a manic pixie dream girl- I wasn't surprised Tyrell also became suspicious. Now I'm not so sure. If Jessica genuinely likes Tyrell, it seems like a missed opportunity to not have started her out as a bully, then we see her gradually catch feelings for Tyrell.  The McBrides are definitely the "C" family of BTG. They always get last priority. There have been a few times where the Doug/Vanessa/Joey characters reference off screen conversations which seem too important to not show us. Like when Doug thanked Joey for giving him extra time to pay off the loan. When did that happen? Or when we abruptly moved from Vanessa/Joey at Uptown to Vanessa/Doug in the hotel room. The McBrides don't even have their own set - even though Vanessa is a realtor. It's a shame because I am a fan of the characters and actors.

I am also adjusting to KR as Ted but I feel that AM and MJ had way more chemistry as father and daughter than AM and KR. We saw Eva dream of having a real relationship with MJ's version of Ted for months so it's a bit of a bummer not to have that payoff with the original actor except for those scenes in MJ's last episode.  Something I noticed about Eva today is how she takes genuine delight in being a schemer. As badly as she wants to be a Richardson, she still has so much of her mom in her. It was jarring seeing her earnestly promise to steer clear of Leslie in her scene with Ted, then immediately switch attitudes when her mom showed up.  I'm very surprised with how quickly the accident story has been moving along. I was sure that it would be months if not years before people figured out it was Leslie on the motorcycle, not to mention responsible for the potassium overdose. I'm looking forward to seeing how MVJ and Guza avoid writing Leslie into a corner.  Finally, I have been loving the Articulettes story. Bonita Brisker was just the right amount of OTT - remember Sharon is supposed to be even more angry than Tracy is. If Sharon didn't come in swinging, people would say she fell flat. The way Sharon and Tracy describe the breakup is so Supremes-meet-Original Recipe Destiny's Child. I get the sense that MVJ is re-writing the Return to Love Tour as a roman a clef, and I love it. I'm looking forward to finding out what the secret they share is. If Dante Green is as shady as Berry Gordy was, it's something dark. If/when they go through with the reunion, I expect Dante to show up and claim to own the Articulettes trademark in a Lou Pearlman-esque twist.
    • Other than hanging out with Liz, all of Lucky's stories have been stalled out or dropped; the relationship with his son; his wanderlust. He hasn't been involved in any of the action/adventure or con artist stuff. I don't think he's even had a scene with Sidwell since the latter came to town. He's a real after thought. I doubt he's long for the show.

    • I started a separate thread for the same tribute, but of course it can be discussed wherever. doesn't matter where. Fyi  Jason Cook, Staci Greason, and Eileen Davidson will be there as well as Reckell and some of the current cast Thread for Live tribute to Drake https://boards.soapoperanetwork.com/topic/68987-days-currentformer-actors-live-video-tribute-for-drake-hogestyn
    • Seeing Nicole and Martin together reminds me of watching Alice with Mickey Horton in the 90s and 00s. The seem more like peers than mother and son.  The younger half of the cast (35ish and below) is playing younger, and the older half (35+) is playing older.
