This threesome plot point is so tired. While it's a first for a daytime soap, it's not interesting. This grouping is a well worn straight male fantasy and I'm sure the white straight men who run streaming and Days (Ken) easily signed off. Let's see if Ron gets approval to have three men threesome or two bi men/one woman threesome.  My guess is it ain't going to happen for a long time.  This particular plot is also hamstrung by RSW playing Alex which is beyond dumb as reformed Ben was shoved down our throats for years and the minimal acting skills of both females in the plot.  Not to mention that Ally's character is so ill defined and uninteresting.

"Never Been Done Before" reeks of late 90's Guiding Light James Harmon Brown / Barbara Esensten era.

I don't mind the threesome, but it seemed misplaced and out of character for Ali. The only person it felt organic to was newbie horndog Alex.

I swear though, if they saddle one or both with a baby and then abort it, as some sort of liberal checklist to stir up the conservative crowd.... just no.

I see they pulled an Abby's different hairstyle (from Knots Landing) with Gabi's lipstick and expected us not to notice

I kind of liked EJ vs. Li today. It was pretty good, and I didn't expect Li to reveal to anyone so quickly that he'd be willing to drop Gabi in order to stay on at Dimera.

As for Johnny and Wendy, I'm not sure yet if there's chemistry. I need to see more scenes of them. Sometimes you can see chemistry right at the beginning, sometimes you can't.

And as for Alex, maybe it's already time for a recast. RSW does not have the acting capabilities to play a romantic lead/hero and all the prop writing in the world wouldn't be able to fix that. Just because it worked with Paul Telfer doesn't mean it's going to work here. How can you root for a character if they always come off as so unpleasant and scummy, even when they're trying to be good and decent?

Sounds like more biphobic writing from RC

The only part of it that made sense to me was Allie getting it in her head that her beloved Chanel was missing something, was doing without something & that she had the power to see that Chanel got that. If not that, then I just fall back on thinking that they are writing the both of them against type, out of character, and back to the first week of Alex when his entire introduction seemed to be blatant straight male fantasy. To me, these are the choices. What would have been great would've been for Allie to make the offer & Chanel to decline. If someone's gonna be pregnant it better be Alex, having an hysterical pregnancy! There's only so much they can put on the backs of these two girls!

So much of this is spot on. It IS a well-worn straight male fantasy, and as written it is NOT interesting, and it is NOT organic to these characters/plot.

It makes NO SENSE that a couple married 3 months ago ALREADY needs someone else to spice up their sex lives. It's just ridiculous. RSW was chosen because...well, you all know why. Still, I can't blame him for any of this. In my eyes, it's wrong to blame any one actor for plotting that's a disaster.

And no, it's not enough that this threesome is in some ways "groundbreaking." I care more about good soap that watching scenes that make me say "Never before in daytime!!!" And look at those morning-after scenes -- the dialogue among the three of them was just terrible and unrealistic.

You're right, too, about a threesome with 2 or 3 men, except I don't believe "it ain't going to happen for a long time." I don't think it's ever going to happen, period. It's more likely we'll get a farce with Sonny having sex with goofy and annoying as hell Leo.

Makes no sense & I do not think anyone made a case for it being what was going on. Nothing Allie said, nothing Chanel said, etc. smacked of that at all. I think that is strictly audience reading something in that's not there. And I said I wouldn't split hairs but isn't it 2 months? July 29th, at any rate.

Well, it came from Allie & it seemed to me to be nothing but insecurity & to come out of her head. Talking to herself she seemed to be getting preoccupied with the idea that Chanel was not satisfied & that she wasn't because she wasn't getting something that she was used to having. When she brought it up to Chanel she said, that no, she was quite happy, fulfilled, liking it being the two of them, enjoying being a couple & all that that meant. That's why I say this came out of the top of Allie's head! We've been told before that Allie is the one who is going to be insecure. But, Allie's also persistent & impulsive. After living with this idea for a [gasp] DAY, she broached the subject to Chanel as something she wanted them to do. If you ask me, Allie made her first adult mistake, but, maybe they will work it out & learn from it. Because Chanel was insisting, still that she wasn't lacking for anything. No other case for the "project" was floated.

    • Maeve makes a few sporadic appearances, but returns full-time the next spring/summer. She's back in time to see Bill and Michelle graduate, although she skulks around town and wasn't going to tell anyone she was alive. She comes back wearing this HUGE hat---which was a throwback to the old Vanesaa. lol.
    • Aww, yeah it's very heartbreaking and I mostly enjoyed the Nola/Vanessa scenes because they finally let their walls down and came together in a beautiful moment. So Nola was at the hospital already and bumped into Vanessa, who had MRI papers that fell out of her hand and Nola went down to pick them up and asked her what was going on. Later, Vanessa confided in her about her disease. Then, Nola told Zachary on the beach (he prodded her and already alluded to knowing something was going on with Van), and then Vanessa found out she told him and got a little upset. Now, however, Nola is strangely absent while everyone is mourning her death. I'm curious if Nola will actually tell people about her MRI results. I would assume so. Only Nola, Rick, Roger and Zachary know anything, although there is the MRI results letter from the mail that everyone has missed seeing at home. I'm sure it'll all come out at some point. But... I just saw the next episode and the opening already cut Vanessa out and added Dahlia and Zachary. I guess Maeve is gone for a long time

That will break my heart seeing the town continue to mourn her and assume she's dead. I can't wait to see her return though, and I have to imagine feelings will be torn between loving that she's alive and being very angry she did all of this. While I hate what Vanessa is doing, I'm happy to hear it's not totally against her character. I think you're right, had Henry still been around, she wouldn't put him through this. I'm still surprised she is with Bill, though. I get her feelings on Matt, because she wants him to move on, but still very heartbreaking. I'm glad this was Maeve's choice to have a break vs. being fired.    Interesting, so I'm curious to see who they eventually pair Phillip with. They're flirting with a Phillip/Annie pairing, but I'm not sure if they'll go that route with the Jeva drama, her growing pill addiction, and Rick's past with her.  Ugh, yeah I'm so sad to see Bridget do a total 180 in the last couple weeks. She has always been a strong character from what I've seen, but now she's just bending over backwards to get Hart to love her and it reeks of desperation. Yeah, sure, this new Hart is eye candy, but I'm already tired of seeing Hart/Dinah have sex all over Springfield and the Cayman Islands haha.
    • Yes.  I remember them together during the early summer of 1986.  They didn't share scenes again for 30 years until 2017 because Carrie wasn't on the show when Anna returned during Sydney's kidnapping.
    • I can see Kim being that way. Well, Kyle didn't have to say yes. LOL. The suicide attempt feels plot-driven. I don't know if even Long could've made it work. She'd spent so much time trying to make Reva and Kyle into a couple, it feels odd to just have them give up. Not to mention how odd it is to have Maeve agree to marry him. Re Charita---surely they could've at least tried  finding clips with who was still there. Maybe they wouldn't have been "big" moments, but surely she'd interacted with Ross, Vanessa, and Henry. Vanessa had dated Ed, FCOL. But Mo and Rick were there---surely they could've bothered to find some clips of her with them (and they did interact a fair amount) and used them. And with Ed they could've found some shot of her talking to him and just not cut to whoever was playing Ed in the clip. That to me is what feels lazy---they had more than a year to figure it out, and they went with a bunch of photos. If you were sort of centering it on Rick anyway---then find clips with them and use 'em.
    • I definitely think it's time to write off Nina for good. I think her killing Drew might actually be a good idea. She could completely lose it after losing both Sasha and Willow and she ends up murdering Drew and eventually she gets caught and sent away to prison for a long time.
    • I hope it's okay to post this here(as in from DC)
    • Quick question - did Christie and Leann share any scenes together in the '80s before Leann left the show?
    • This is the perfect way to encapsulate the situation. So many morally-reprehensible stories were foisted on the show and its characters in ATWT's dwindling years. Rape should never be used as a cheap plot device or in a way that degrades the victim. Jack's sexual assault was another heinous example of how nasty the the show's tone had become. The fact that people like Hogan Sheffer, Ron Carlivati, Jean Passanante, Charles Pratt, Dena Higley, etc., somehow end up winning awards for their material, decimates the credibility and integrity of the awards, IMHO. Soaps used to have a solid moral core and did not originally wallow in the gutter, rolling around in filth and depravity just to be cool, hip, campy, or whatever else modern-day PTB aim for. Thank you. Cruelty, degradation and misogyny are not components which lend themselves to successful soaps, which have always been predicated on warmth, family bonds, and providing a comforting haven for their audience. The genre has been crippled because the cynical and ignorant executives in charge understand neither the shows nor what the audience wants to see.
