you've made absolutely fair points here. there is a great convenience in being able to move TV around with you no matter where you go, or what room you are in at your convenience. I love being able to pull up an episode of days from 1996 at will on YouTube! I just wish streaming and broadcast television coexisted rather than one being a result of the collapse of the other.

Just dawning on me that with DAYS gone, NBC Daytime has finally collapsed after years of faltering behind CBS and ABC in terms of soaps especially.

I know change happens and all that stuff but it kind of sucks. Never did I imagine about 12-13 years ago that broadcast television would cave like this. it's amazing how cable was the next big thing and just fell to streaming so quickly.

Personally, I feel the title for the poll is incorrect. You're not paying $4.99 to watch Days on Peacock. That's the price for Peacock itself. It should have been "Will you pay a monthly subscription for Peacock?"? Similarly, I think polls should be created for the other streamers as well just to see if people are willing to pay for any of them.

Currently, I pay for Netflix + DVD (it's a legacy account), Prime Video (via annual Prime plan), Hulu+Live TV, Paramount+ (student discount rate), Disney+ and HBO Max (free via legacy AT&T wireless service). I have a free Peacock account which I've been unwilling to upgrade. Yes, it's five bucks but until now I've yet to be given a reason to subscribe.

I wouldn't pay $4.99 for Peacock. I could possibly switch to Xfinity if I wanted to and get Peacock for free with ads. I own my own routers and cable modem, so I would need to see if the modems I have are "accepted" or "doable" by Xfinity. However, I'm fine with my internet company, and I'm in no dire need to switch over because of a television show. No.

No. No. No.

I'll download DAYS episodes if torrents are available and that's that.

Yes, I do pay for streaming services (Paramount +; Prime Video). Paramount + fits me better if that makes any sense as a viewer. As for Peacock, the premium stuff they offer for movies, I already have. Their shows, for the most part, don't seem as appealing as compared to the television shows that Paramount + offers. But, that's just me. Call it $5 a month or whatever, but Peacock needs a lot of help trying to gain subscribers.

If Peacock can offer what Disney+ can offer (which frankly, no one else can), then it will continue to be a challenge as it currently is for Netflix, HBO Max and Discovery+, etc.

In other words, every streaming service needs to find their own version of the MCU and they’ll be sitting pretty.

No way are they going to upload every episode they ever made. But if they were to put up just one complete year from the 60s, 70s, or 80s, I'd sign up. Maybe 1984, or 1976, or 1965/66?

Honestly, I don't know the DAYS viewer base to be honest. I keep thinkihng about the 18-34 year-old demographic as well as 35+. Does the baby boomer or traditionalist generation watch DAYS religiously? What about socioeconomic status? I can only imagine a traditionalist or a baby boomer who have watch DAYS for 25+ years to find out that "their show" is no longer on NBC. In order to watch it, they would have to pay for it by subscribing to Peacock for $4.99 plus tax a month. Sure, they don't fit the key demographic as 18-34 year-olds are considered to be especially valuable to advertisers, but I guess we'll have to wait and see how this turns out. However, if the majority of DAYS viewers pertain to a lower socioeconomic status, then I don't see a potential gain for Peacock

Or $19.99 for 12 months, which will cover DAYS *final* season (hopefully not).

Considering what other streaming services are charging, that's a great deal. 80% of homes subscribe to at least 1 streaming service. All these people complaining that they don't know how to use streaming - well, they sure know how to use the internet to post on boards. That's what makes the whole Doug & Julie showing how to stream a bit ridiculous. Millions of older Americans already use streaming regularly. And the ones that are 65+ have never mattered financially to the networks aka advertising so losing them is really losing nothing. However, gaining a few subscriptions from older folks is $$$.

Is this great? No. It's not much different than when the NCAA Football Championship is shown on ESPN.

    • One thing I thought about is if Hayley will have a reaction to Bill threatening to kidnap and sell a baby. That's another level of viciousness and with her just having thought she was pregnant it might make her feel some type of way.
    • You're welcome. Fall 1982-Spring 1985 was the peak of primetime soaps. What a time to have been alive.
    • 1990/91 Cheers, Roseanne, A Different World, The Cosby Show, Empty Nest, The Golden Girls were still Top 10 shows, and Murphy Brown and Designing Women became Top 10 shows. It was the following season that I think was the transition season for sitcoms.
    • @xtr I loved Martin in Thursday's episode, he was almost a different character. I thought he was flirty, funny, carefree, and giggly. Glad I have someone to share my top 2 women(Nicole and Eva) with, I agree Nicole is the heart of the Dupree family, and also the heart of the show IMO. We rode into the show on the passenger side of her car, lol. What I am enjoying the most about the show, is that they did such a great job character building, because all I care about is the CHARACTER journey. Nicole, Eva, Leslie, Dani, Chelsea, etc. very invested in what's coming next. I even feel that way about Mona, Shanice, and Doug.
    • I know we have discussed the fact that Another World seemed to be planning a location shoot in Finland that got cancelled. I came across this item from the syndicated Soapbox column published June 14, 1982. "Soap operas have been experimenting extensively with on-location shooting in recent years to enhance storylines and increase their viewing audience. A major drawback is the added production costs involved. Another World, for example, cancelled a special trip for Victoria Wyndham (Rachel Cory on the show), who was scheduled to shoot scenes in Finland. The producers felt that the high price tag, along with resentment of the cast members who also wanted to travel but were to be left behind. was enough to scrap the whole project."
    • A few more thoughts about these last two episodes. I thought it was interesting how much disdain both Dani/Anita have for Eva. I thought it was amusing how Dani was calling her lying/conniving and how Anita pointed as if to say, "that part". They definitely are not here for her, and I could see them having harsh confrontations with her in addition to Leslie. I'm curious to see Kat's interaction with Eva on Monday's episode. I think it might be interesting if Kat (along with possibly Naomi/Chelsea) come around to Eva before Dani/Anita do. Of course, Kat will be understandably angry at her. But maybe a tiny part of her might feel sorry for her if she really does believe that she's Ted's daughter as well and that Leslie lied to her. I could see Kat confronting Eva again and warning her not to harm her family anymore. But I could also possibly see Kat admitting that what Ted/Leslie did regarding her was messed up as well. And maybe that will pave the way down the line for them to get along better. I also agree with the comments/speculation made in the threat that Nicole will eventually accept/probably love her someday as well. I still wouldn't mind if somehow Nicole ended up being her biological mother. They have both been acting like they care for each other in this storyline. Nicole somehow ending up being her mother would be soapy and provide some more interesting layers in this story. And regarding Andre/Dani's romance it seems like they are genuinely developing feelings for each other. I have missed episodes, so maybe more of this has been elaborated on. But it seemed like there was genuine affection between both of them when they snuck a kiss publicly in the hotel. And also, them both talking about going publicly with their relationship. I wonder what everyone's reactions will be should they be caught by someone together. Of if they flat out tell everyone about their relationship.
    • I was wondering what week it was, and it explains the low rating for Knots Landing. I was also wondering what preempted Dallas and Falcon Crest.
    • Interesting take on Dallas. Frankly I think the plot of JR Returns should have been the way Dallas ended but for whatever reason they thought they had the chance to get renewed for another season lol. A week later Knots’ 2 hour season finale ranked at #10 against Cheers #3 and LA Law at #5. There’s only a handful of other shows running that long and still doing well enough the ratings/rankings i.e. Gunsmoke, Law & Order, NCIS, Grey’s Anatomy and more recently Blue Bloods.    Another point of interest is the unraveling of the 80’s sitcoms had already begun in the spring of ‘91. The first part of a Who’s The Boss? two part season finale we see here ranked at  #40 and second part ranked at #43 the following week. Growing Pains finale the previous week barely made it into the Top 30. The Wonder Years fared no better. Cosby losing ground, Night Court and Dear John just being there etc.
