According to court documents obtained by Soap Opera Network, former “General Hospital” star Ingo Rademacher is seeking to quash a subpoena from American Broadcasting Companies, Inc. (ABC) that was issued to the Protection of the Educational Rights of Kids (PERK) organization “on the grounds that the category of requested documents violate privacy rights and are irrelevant to this action.”

In a declaration submitted to the Los Angeles Superior Court on May 26, 2022, attorney Scott J. Street of JW/ Howard Attorneys, Ltd, the attorneys of record for plaintiff Rademacher, stated that on April 22, 2022, the law firm was served with a notice and copy of defendant ABC’s business records subpoena issued to the “non-party” organization.

“PERK, Ingo and myself have had discussions about this case – more specifically, in preparing for the litigation of this case. All discussions occurred with me or at my direction,” Street said in his declaration. “These discussions and documents provided to PERK, if any, were private and confidential and are protected from disclosure by the attorney-client privilege and work product doctrine. Our firm is serving ABC with written objections to the subpoena on that basis.”

In the request to quash it stated, “it is not hard to appreciate that ABC’s subpoena – seeking confidential communications and attorney work product between Ingo, Ingo’s counsel and a speculated litigation funder – does nothing to prove Ingo’s claims or ABC’s defenses. The subpoena is merely ABC’s campaign of intimidation to harass and pressure Ingo to drop the case against them. As an ill-fated means of garnering litigation leverage in this action, ABC has set about to intentionally harass every single person that Ingo may have spoken to in the last five years to destroy Ingo’s character and ascertain how someone could afford to bring such a case against ABC. Apparently, ABC hopes to resolve this action by intimidating Ingo and asserting its power as the ‘big-pocket’ litigator that can crush Ingo’s ability to litigate this case.”

The motion further states, “ABC refused to mediate this case – a fact which evidences the true nature of this subpoena. It cannot allege it is seeking financial information for purposes of settlement, in part because its wholly irrelevant, but also because that is a ruse evidenced by ABC’s own actions. ABC is not entitled to sensitive, private information that is irrelevant to Ingo’s allegations concerning privacy rights and unlawful discrimination, though a subpoena or otherwise. ABC is also not entitled to know whether any person or entity is financing this litigation, if at all. It is apparent that the information is designed solely to harass as it has no relevancy to this action. The subpoena should be quashed.”

A hearing is set for Thursday, September 8, 2022 at 9:00 a.m. or as soon thereafter.

According to a memorandum of points and authorities included in the motion regarding his reasoning behind his decision to sue ABC, “[Rademacher] filed this action alleging violations of his privacy rights, unlawful religious and medical condition discrimination, retaliation, and wrongful termination” following ABC’s decision in summer 2021 to order anybody working on a television show it produced to get a Covid-19 vaccination. “That meant, Ingo, as a cast member of the ABC-produced soap opera, ‘General Hospital,’ which he had been a cast member for 25 years, was required to receive a Covid-19 shot to continue working on the show or request a religious exemption,” the suit says. “Although ABC claimed to grant exemptions for sincerely held religious objections to the shot, it refused to accept Ingo’s request – without explanation. ABC then terminated Ingo’s contract to perform.”

In November 2021, it was announced that Rademacher would be exiting his role as Jasper “Jax” Jacks on the ABC drama after failing to comply with the company’s vaccine mandate for employees. He last appeared on the soap on Monday, November 22, 2021, when the character departed Port Charles for Australia on important business.

A jury trial is currently on the docket for Monday, February 27, 2023.

No one, and I mean NO ONE, has destroyed his so-called character more than his homophobic, transphobic, terroristic self. FACT. Stay gone. And, no offense, the "speculated litigation funder" is not speculated... since he's come right out in the past on his social media about who he has been working with in suing Disney-ABC. Psh. He need to get over the fact he fired himself for a job he was honestly no longer needed for.

    • But she's a DUPREE and that makes her immune to any and everything!
    • About the only thing that could really get me interested in this show right now would be a "Who Killed Victor?" storyline IF he stayed dead. The writing for him is atrocious! And the lineup of possible suspects would be most of the canvas. Months worth of great story if done well.....of course...not getting done with Griffith.
    • I really hope you’re wrong. Dani Desperate Dupree being right will make her even more insufferable than she’s already been.
    • I know this board has very strong opinions about Scheffer's reign which run the gamut from brilliant to the nadir of the series.  I'm one of the fans. 2001 - 2005 are, imo, the second best years for the series. The first being Marland.  As The World Turns won Daytime Emmy Awards for Best Drama Series in '87 and '91. However, it wasn't until Scheffer came along that it won again...in '01 and '03. Plus it won for Best Writing Team in '01, '02, '04, and '05, an award it had never managed to win before and didn't again. When Scheffer left and Passanante was the main head writer (along with various other co-head writers) the show began to seriously tank. However, it wasn't just the writing. The budget was gone. The sets were made to be smaller or destroyed. There was all that weird hand held camera directing for a while. Scenes that were obviously shot in the hallway where the series was filmed. I think '06 - '10 is a roller coaster. There are some storylines I really enjoyed and some that were eye-rolling. Looking in the rearview mirror though, I can see that the actors, writers, directors, and crew were working their best with what money they had.
    • They are idiots! It seems crazy that Leslie is inserting herself so much into this investigation but everybody is falling into her traps. I find it to be an interesting back and forth and I'm still not completely sure who will win. I have a theory but I'm going to wait for more to develop before I say more. I feel like Haley has been more on the sidelines so I'm enjoying this new desperate streak she appears to be developing. I'm curious how it'll manifest overtime. I also agree with Dani that I am not convinced she's pregnant. I think she's trying to get pregnant but really just see's herself fading into the background and wants attention and validation from Dani and her family.
    • Thanks for sharing; the set, wow. Ten times better than the "penthouse" she lives in now (is that a surprise, though?).
    • I'd be happy to!

I just read the intro and first chapter and I'm already hooked. I know she had a co-author, but I can tell Kim is a firecracker and I'd love to have wine with her and talk sh!t haha. It makes reading the book pretty easy and entertaining. Intro - I had no idea she got a DUI! She shared 3 bottles of wine with a friend at dinner one night in LA, got in her car, was pulled over and thrown in jail overnight.  She admitted it wasn't her first time drinking and driving, but learned a valuable lesson that night. Out of the gate, she's not holding back or hiding anything. Chapter 1 - the announcement that GL was being cancelled. She was driving to Peapack and got a call from Bradley Cole who told her the news. First, that's BS that as one of the faces of GL, you hear the big news from a fellow co-star on your way to work. Granted, the "suits" were traveling to Peapack that day to tell the cast and crew, but still, seems icky. Ironically the news came on April Fools Day. Apparently that was the last day the network could decide whether to cancel or renew, but to Kim's point, couldn't they just pick the day before to avoid the callousness of the 'holiday'. Obviously a sad day in GL history. I thought it was funny, she said the one thing she thought of is "what would Susan Lucci do" in this situation, post-cancellation. And of course she said she'd "find something to hawk on the Home Shopping Network"  You all would know better than me, but part of the title of her book is "seven husbands" and in her intro, she uses Reva's full name: Reva Shayne-Lewis-Lewis-Spaulding-Lewis-Winslow-Cooper-Lewis-Lewis-O'Neill.  However, in the first chapter, she said Bradley Cole was "her 8th (or was it 9th?) husband". Well, Kim, that already contradicts the title of your book and your character's name you touted.
