Two vid clips inside this tweet. First clip is from the very first scene between Nicole and Jensen Ackles' Eric Brady. Second clip is from the new Days promo.

The promo did an homage to that Zucker/Ackles scene!

Wouldn't it have been easier just to have Tony and Anna, who've never had any children together, take in a homeless teen instead?  I mean, if you want to give them a story, why not something more meaningful than this Sarenee [!@#$%^&*]?

^ two clips, the original scene and the promo

The original Ericole scene was 27 February 1998.  In Salem time, it's now 2023, so 25 years later in Salem Time.  Anniversary of Arianne Zucker's first episode.

There is a likelihood that Ron C. planned that the Ericole scene from the promo .... would air on Monday 28 February for AZ's anniversary, and it was already filmed before NBC decided to preempt for the Olympics.  So that preemption of 11 episodes would push the AZ anniversary episode to some around 11th March or 14th March maybe?  Valentines Day was pushed by the Olympics to 1st March.  So it makes sense that the Ericole scene on AZ's anniversary would be moved also.

Which is long enough in Salem to come back from the dead at least three times and become a grandparent, too.

You know, it'd be nice if DAYS were to bring back a character viewers actually gave a damn about.

I know Ron (and to a lesser extend) Ryan Quan) are responsible for the stories, but the show has been so much worse (campier/nonsensical/embarrassingly immature) since Jamey Giddens joined the writing team. I have no proof of this: but the Renee Dumond thing feels like a Jamey thing to me.

You're correct.

JG admitted that he was the one who pitched the idea.
