JG might be as sweet as pie, but that has absolutely nothing to do with the abysmal way he's been writing this show.  Y&R is in a lot of trouble, and if he can't find a way to fix that, then he needs to go.  Period.

Lol. Look, assuming for a moment this hasn't been an elaborate troll along (which would take commitment rarely seen even here), it’s cool that you really don’t care what they put onscreen so long as Adam is frontburner, dude. There’s always fans who will watch anything so long as ‘their fave’ is on. That and general inertia is just about the only thing keeping Y&R alive. But if that’s your only criterion for quality (and it’s clear it is, since you don’t really know much about this show or any other soap you ask about) then please don’t get mad at other people for feeling differently from you because they remember when the show was a quality product and that makes you feel unhappy or out of place. If this place ain't for you, move on with your life.

Honestly, even if I was an Adam fan, I'd still be pissed over how the show is writing him these days.  The fact that he's on so often would make no difference to me.

I think Marlena must still be watching on the black and white portable she used to watch Love of Life in the 70's.

Beautifully produced ?- cramped, cheaply decorated sets, empty public spaces, basic staging, poor lighting, crappy music, ill fitting/gaudy costuming etc

Chelsea is way past use by. She's one of those characters that should be long gone to make space for newcomers or other ignored characters to get some airtime and energize the vet characters.

Mature? Billy is worse than a spoiled teen and Lily is an enabler.

Well, she got that bit right.

Yeah, I don't understand Marlena's love for Chelsea either.  You could literally stop featuring her tomorrow -- pretend she was just a figment of everyone's imagination -- and absolutely nothing on the show would be affected at all.

Well, Imani has been super busy with her new law firm- in fact, the girl has been making serious waves in the GC legal scene.

And of course, settling in to her fabulous new apartment-she still gets chills thinking how lucky she was to score such a terrific space.

As for dating- well, there have been a couple of guys she been seeing. One is a very successful real estate broker who was a client and the other is a tech wiz running an international business. Bit for now she's keeping it light.

As for Naya, she well on the way to recovery and reconnecting with her husband. They just went on aromatic cruise together.

All of this will be detailed on a Wed ep  when Amanda catches up with her sister for lunch at Society.

Nate will stop by and Imani will tell him he looks mighty fine in that color shirt.

To me, neither Chelsea NOR Sally belong on this show.  Especially if all they're gonna keep doing is fight over some doucheboat who won't give either of their panties a second sniff.

Where can I see this spinoff?  It sounds more exciting than Y&R!

As the old saying goes: Each to their own.

None of these stories interest me at all.

Who cares if Adam and Victoria our fighting over some media companies? Who do they think they're Kendall and Shiv Roy from Succession?

This Dominic custody storyline is dull.

Chloe, Chelsea, and Sally are all the same archetypes with lack of writing.

Josh might be a great guy, but he is a dull writer who needs to be replaced ASAP!

Nice guys get fired every day for being sh!tty at their jobs.

When they don’t get fired, time to look at the boss. Whatever JG’s doing is getting approved/supported on high or at least tolerated/ignored.

I’m trying to imagine what JG’s Y&R would look like paired with Michael Malone.

    • GET THAT HEFFA, NOSY NURSE!!!   I'm sorry to see Smitty and June coming to a middle ground. It seem like that tension would be between them for at least one more story arc. A writing change?   I'm sorry but I love the teen unit of Ty, Samantha, and Jessica (and Rocco, Danny, Charlotte over on GH which is what today is reminding me of). I'm a sucker for soap teens. lol.
    • I really hope Laura doesn’t get reelected. She doesn’t deserve it. Imagine her campaign staff, freaking out at the Metro Court as election results come in while she’s hanging out with Sonny.
    • Thanks for that. It was great to see her in an interview. She's very likable. Although it was somewhat confusing. What new soap is she talking about going on audition for in 1973. Was it The Young and the Restless? Is it just me or did they never even say the name of this soap opera? Days wasn't new in 1973 and there was no "Jack" with three daughters on The Young and the Restless. What soap are they talking about? The editing around that part was weird and choppy. I felt like there was a chunk missing or something. And I'm not sure why she was saying she got colorectal cancer from HPV and said it's because she never got the HPV vaccine but then said she's never had anal sex. I'm not a doctor but that didn't seem to make any medical sense. I don't know. Maybe I'm tired. It just seemed like some of this interview didn't make sense.
    • If it helps any, the last script cover from the Elman papers that I have is from episode #3,736 airdate November 15, 1977. Writers are the Hollands with Frank Salisbury.
    • B&B really does look incredible. The lighting and the polished sets have made a significant difference how visually appealing the show is now.
    • I found the problem with the Labine era was that the show lost some humour when the Labines came on and it could be dull. They also didn't seem to understand some of the characters. As others have said, it looks fantastic in comparison to the next regime but I just remember boredom being the primary response.
    • Something I didn't realize: Frank Ashmore, who played Monica's investigator Corrigan in 1981, was also Victor, the third guy in the cockpit, in Airplane!
    • Thanks, maybe I will skim through those episodes.  I have previously binged late 1985 through early 1987; April-June, August 1992 (I skipped Carlo Hesser murder trial), Jan-March 1995 and I began watching in 2006. I just struggle to stay consistent with routines especially binging routines haha
    • I could've sworn we went over the Bobbie thing a while ago, and saw her introduced to Rick and Lesley as "Nurse Barbara" in very late '77? Or was that early '78? I know the clip is online. Jackie always credited Marland with creating her IIRC.
    • Thanks.  Loon Lake - very on the nose. With that "dad" outfit Bo looks even more like Cassie's father...
