Continuity Errors in Soaps

Inspired by Liberty City's observation on the hairstyles of GH actors being different throughout an episode this week, I thought it would be fun to talk about our favorite glaring continuity errors in soap history. Amusing or infuriating.
Obviously we all know about the BIG ones - soaps forgetting a character has a kid off-screen, recasts, retconning history. Those happen so often it would be hard to keep count.
I am thinking more fun less important ones

I'll start with my two favorites:

- Knots Landing's Abby being kidnapped into a car with long hair at the end of Season 5 and arriving on the boat she is held hostage at the beginning of Season 6 with a freshly cut short bob.
- In 1999 B&B Brooke hearing Stephanie had some kind of stroke and rushing to the hospital with long hair... only to arrive with short hair. I guess she had time to stop at the salon first.

Any other kinds of amusing continuity errors ya'll can think of?

I almost said that.  Because she was all I cut my hair and then in the next episode was like "Psych, Sonny" just a wig and she wore those bad extensions forever even in their first love scene and it looks so, so bad.  I know the show was punishing her for cutting her gorgeous, gorgeous long hair, but girl could have pulled off the short look.

One of the biggest hair blunders occurred on Peyton Place in 1966. At the beginning of the episode Mia Farrow(Allison) had her long trademark hair with bangs. Later in the episode she has a short cropped haircut. In the middle of an episode, Mia became angry and asked for a pair of scissors in makeup. She began cutting off all her hair in a fit of anger. She was dating Frank Sinatra and he told her she could not come to his 50th birthday party because his ex wife would be there and it may come across disrespectful. Mia also wanted off the show and hoped this act would get her fired. The hair team had to fix her hair and a quick rewrite was done to write the new hair do into the storyline.

I believe the story is

1. she didn't get permission and her long hair was epic

2. It made her look too much like Rena Sofer

Vanessa Marcil's 90's hair still stands the test of time so I don't even understand, but I loved her long hair.  I always did think her mid 90's bob was pretty great though.

Those extensions or wigs or whatever literally take me out of most scenes.  They are so awkward and I hate that some of their best moments occur with her having awful hair.

    • I think the Ralph story was a one of those Kay redemption stories that came up every so often where she would vow to make better choices. I guess Ralph appeared at the mansion for work and was friendly towards Kay and Liz encouraged it.  There would have been a bit of comedy with haughty Kay attempting to relate to down to Earth Ralph. How it was resolved I don't know. Maybe as simple as Kay announcing she wasn't interested? Did Liz and Kay ever interact until Jill got pregnant/Phillip's death? I don't think so and at that point they would not have been friendly. Liz very much knew her place in dealing with the likes of Kay Chancellor.
    • i've never seen any videos of this ivan! if anyone finds any id love to see haha if anyone has any of the videos from the 1984 plots besides the couple clips on youtube i'd love to see those too !
    • @Maxim @draglover Character: Ivan Marais, assistant to Vivian Alamain. Actor: Ivan G'Vera from Prague. Jason47 has an old autograph here: https://jason47.com/days/autogvera.html
    • It is DAYS, Vivian Allamain's right hand man, Ivan (pronounced EE-Vahn) Same  guy is the red head fortune teller. (We are on a roll now with ID thee drag queen!) WOW, I do not have any memory of Evil Rex doing this. GOOD fory ou!!!
    • Okay, draglover, sorry I have now found a blonde in drag. Just didn't see them before. I had to watch it very slowly. Anyway, it's DAYS - Vivian - Ivan again, blonde this time, red head looking like a fortune teller in the other pic. Same actor/character/show.

Wull, hey, is we a team all of a sudden or whut?!!!
    • The blonde drag is also Ivan, I believe. The long straight black wig is Peter Barton when he was playing Eddie on Sunset Beach.
    • Sorry, I don't know the non-AW ones. In addition to the 2x Cass disguised himself as Krystle (1984 to hide from Tony Jones, 1994 investigating Felicia's disappearance), there was one occasion in October 1987 where Cass imposter Rex Allingham dressed as a woman and, claiming to be Nicole's Aunt Blanche, disrupted her date with another man. (At the time I don't think the audience yet knew that it wasn't Cass.)
    • THANK YOU SO MUCH. If there was any way we could sticky this post or make it so we don't forget where it is. I'm going to bookmark it for sure! AND WOW... Season 15 - nearly a whole month of skipped episodes. LOL.
    • JFP was only as strong as her writers, which is why her output got worse and worse when she decided she was the only writer anyone needed. They could have easily had a decent short-term story with Lando - maybe cast him as a terminal patient at Cedars, or a long-lost Bauer or Reardon who would leave town after his story is done and possibly return at a later date with a recast. He might become close to Ed and Michelle, similar to how Ed had taken Kelly under his wing years earlier. Maybe he could have been tied to Maureen's death, somehow - maybe we'd learn, after he ingratiated himself to everyone in Springfield, that he accidentally ran Maureen off the road during the storm. And when he realizes this he would, in shame, leave town, maybe leaving some Springfield lady devastated if they were about to get married (this could have worked with a better Mindy recast, or maybe a brand new character).
