Police are still searching for the shooter. The film's cast, including Maurice Benard, Tobias Truvillion and Ice-T share stories about the loss of their friend. Taheim Bryan was only 50 years old at the time of his death so it would have been impossible to write for the show you're referring to and his primary credit is his film mentioned in the article.
