AMC’s JR and Jamie probably experimented as teens, to be honest. They were raised like siblings but really weren’t.

 

Also, AMC’s Peter Cortlandt as played by Mitch Federan was destined to grow up and sleep with his best friend Colby Chandler’s boyfriends. Whenever they were shown or said to be playing together as children, I always imagined them having tea parties and Petey being in charge

Kind of like the other topic on here - things you thought were true or things you find out were dumb or you didn't know but found out later -- I always assumed Danny Romalotti (Michael Damien) was gay.  I always thought wow he is a decent actor to pass off that he's straight.

Will and Ben (DAYS) - Prison can get very lonely at times.

Michael and Chase (GH) - I always felt that the chemistry was there, and it would have been quite a surprise twist if Michael had married him instead of Willow to get custody of Wiley.

Thought of another one....Y&R Andy and Paul.  I always thought Steven Ford was so cute.

GH- Michael and Chase for sure.  They have more chemistry together than I have ever seen from Chad in another pairing.

 

DAYS- Will and Chad (OG versions) were constantly flirting in scenes.

 

These shows need more bisexual characters- An easy and great way to add a new dynamics to triangle storytelling.

 

I think @Soapsuds mentioned ATWT’s Holden and Dusty.  That would have been hot.  And again, a great spin of classic soap storytelling if one of these shows did that now.  The rich son and the stable boy.

Oh god yes. Neither has *ever* had as much chemistry with a female love interest as they do with each other. In a more inclusive environment, TPTB would zero in on that and say, “There! That’s where the magic is. Let’s pursue that.” In the same way other savvy writers/execs have changed course when they realized two actors were sparking.

 

What’s sad is that, even as pop culture has grown more accepting of LGBT representation, the only place we often see stories like these told is... well... porn. And that’s sad. I’d love to see more imaginative queer storytelling in a mainstream context.

I've been hoping for a bisexual love triangle for years, not just some random short story arc where the guy or girl in the end realizes that they're gay. I think it would help soaps so much, and bring in new viewers.

It would have been great. Plus, if the story had gone in that direction it could have created some good conflict with Lucas and Brad too.

ATWT had all of the tools to head right into this direction when they introduced Noah. They did a great job of developing his relationship with Maddie Coleman and building some animosity towards him from Luke, who was annoyed at his friend Maddie for ditching him in favor of her latest fling. Since it was already well-known in the soap community that Noah was brought on for Luke, they really did nothing at all to write a real courtship/attraction between the two guys and just had Luke's feeling turn on a dime after Noah helped him pick up some VHS tapes or something. Then, next thing you know, he's "falling for a straight guy." Had they taken their time and gradually softened Luke towards Noah while also developing an actual personality for Noah, it would have been so much more believable that they would have been attracted to one another.

 

BUT, as we all know, World Turns was absolutely filled with wasted potential in its last years, and they blew through too much story in too short a time, severely damaging the stories in the process.

I actually was thinking of ATWT when I made the post. They pushed Maddie and Noah, but instead of trying to fight for him she just through up her hands in defeat and left town.

 

Then again, I don't think Jean would have been able to write a good enough triangle for them.

I remember thinking Kevin and that cop on Y&R should have been a couple too.  I mean if I have to watch Kevin, it might as well be doing something he was clearly in to.

 

So many times the heat is just ignored on these shows for the same bland stuff, or to prop up pets (Franco and Liz I am talking to you).

 

I think Paul being gay on DAYS was the last time my wish actually came true.

I don’t know if Ryan Carnes isn’t available to do more on GH, but if he is, what a fúcking waste of a beautiful and talented man. I come back to an idea posed by another poster: that after discovering Brad’s betrayal, Lucas would have had a wild drunken hookup with Brando.

 

To include the ladies: some of the Kendall/Greenlee frenemy stuff on AMC in the ‘00s definitely could have veered into the sexual territory without anyone batting an eye. 
 

Bianca/Babe was also a missed opportunity. I know that they pretended to be a couple at one point.

I heard, though it's not certain, that the show offered RC a contract but for some reason he turned it down. But yeah, he's great and I wish he was on contract. 

 

I think I might have been the one who suggested the drunken hookup with Brando lol which would have really good, especially since it would have kept Lucas and ultimately Brad on the canvas as well, rather than having them just disappear once the truth about Wiley came out. Before the shutdown, it looked like Dan and Chris were going to have Brando run through the Davis girls (except Kristina), hopefully they changed that.

 

I also suggested a Dev and Cameron pairing/experimentation too lol
