The Karlos Dillard controversy makes me wonder just how many times people will jump into the current climate for clout and profit before many sour on the movement. The statue removals that now give us images like Madison anarchists just pulling down any statue also makes me wonder how close we are to that tipping point.

I just hope the smarter activists in the movement can salvage things before we fully go haywire.

The Wisconsin melee last night apparently not only involved tearing down statues and smashing windows - a gay, progressive state senator was also assaulted. I'm aware many on the hard left would just say "he's white so he's no better" but the lt. governor, Mandela Barnes, spoke out.

There's more as well.

There are many who just want to break things and force a "revolution" that will never go the way they want. They're going to overshadow the years and decades of work many have put in on these topics. And it's hard to even know what to do about it.

Amid the reflection on America’s racist history sparked by the police murders of black citizens, a few country music artists have been taking controversial Southern cultural references out of their names. Lady Antebellum became “Lady A” and now this:

There was already a singer with the name "Lady A" so there was some type of dispute that was recently settled--I don't know what the resolution is though.

I've witnessed my share of disappointing decisions from NYC Mayor Bill DeBlasio but this is NOT one of them.

Sick people cheering the method of running down protesters. Why they would want this type of ugliness normalized when it can so easily be turned around on them, I don't know. They are as stupid as they are vile.

This is one of the reasons I really wish activists would do away with the tactic of blocking roads, even though in this case the police closed the road. I say this as someone who has done it. I took part in a roadblock over the killing of Tamir Rice. It's a bad tactic that puts people at needless risk. Not just the protesters but innocent others if an ambulance or fire truck can't get through. If that happens the whole cause loses moral authority.

    • I do think there's room for optimism, especially with Amazon making enough new episodes to last until December. There's still time for the various players to get their ducks in a row. Guess we'll know soon enough!
    • I do agree it's better to just have people pop back into town. I never understood why Roger needed a mask on an island, when neither Fletcher or Alex would've known who he was. And the vine...sigh. Couldn't he have just been sent crashing through a window or something?
    • When the announcement was first made, I did wonder if other plans were in the works. I guess we can always keep hoping, especially as the show has a small core cast.
    • @chrismlAbout Lisa, agree to disagree. Actually at the time she was the only thing my partner & I disagreed about. Naturally she was Team Vicky while I was steadfast as Team Lisa.  About John & twin paternity, I think that like the 3 pillows was a transitory idea someone had that no one else agreed with. More of the attempt to accommodate Philece. About MJ, co-sign, 100% agree, if there were more degrees I would claim them. About Wally & Felicia, always a fan. Mitch? Eh, take or leave. Although I do agree that WGE is a really striking man. Who have I left out? I don't know so that's all I got.

    • Dallas peaked early, IMO. Maybe not a fair statement as I’m still making my way through the first half of its run, but I think it’s hard to argue to point that S3 into S4 was its high point. Back to Knots. Wrapping up “And Never Brought to Mind.” Greg’s introduction kinda took me by surprise. I low-key dreaded his arrival bc I know he very quickly gets to the center of the show, but even though they wasted no time connecting him with Mac, Abby, Gary, and Karen, it still feels like a gradual intro. The juxtaposition of the ending of the Chip story with the heating up Abby’s plotting is quite symbolic of the changes the show was going through. I absolutely cannot imagine Kenny and Ginger having any part in any of this. Yall, the Gary/Val piano theme that they pull out from time to time is my FAVORITE. I find myself humming it constantly.
    • Bloodshed is inevitable now. It’s another reason I’m glad Black people aren’t getting involved in these protests. As awful as this is, I keep reminding myself that 54 percent of Latino men voted for Trump. These people were put in harm’s way by members of their own communities and sometimes even members of their own families. Too many people decided to touch the stove.
    • Maybe I'm still in denial, but nothing about Neighbours' ongoing social media output gives the vibe of a show that's ending. In today's 'Roundup' video, Alan Fletcher referenced that production finishes in five weeks, but in all the show's posts the cast are as jovial and lighthearted as ever. Remarkably so for people who are about to lose their jobs.    Perhaps they're just putting a brave face on things, and I know they approached the previous axing with a positive attitude. Maybe putting an upbeat face on things is a collective way of showing potential backers that there's still life in the show? Or is it possible that they already know the show has been saved, and we'll get an announcement next month when filming wraps and the show 'rests'?   Does any of that make sense?!
    • A very good week for male eye candy on GH. New Michael is beautiful, Curtis's arms looked great in that polo shirt, Cody looks even more handsome with his new haircut AND we got Marco in swim shorts rocking his lovely bod and chest fur.

    • Yeah when Jamey Giddens did breakdowns for DAYS, he would sometimes state in tweets that specific things were his idea that he had pitched to Ron.
